By all accounts this is true. The French nurses reported that Charles sobs were uncontrollable and that nobody knew what to say or do but to hear him moan and sob. In the end no matter what I think Charles felt guilty and did have some love for Diana.

Really? I was wondering about that, since this scene shows people hearing him outside.
I also always thought Charles cared. There are many kinds of love but the romantic one. It's also possible to love someone while still being incompatible and unable to live with them.
He was probably also crying a little for his sons.

She was the mother of his children afterall. And I think he did have some affection for her, specially after the divorce when things cooled down between them and they were both out of that unhappy marriage. He simply never loved her as the woman of his life, that was always Camilla.

I feel very very sorry for those that think becuse they were divorced they hated each other and he couldn't experience grief or sadness at her passing.
Humans are complex. Relationships are complex. There are many layers to our lives and emotions.
You can be incompatible as a married couple but still love one another, wish the best for each other, and respect each other. This is especially true if you have children together. And quite frankly it SHOULD be this way and not a forever war.
If you think in black and white terms, absolutes, then there is an immaturity to your thinking.

Agreed. My wife and I have been together for 10 years and we're together only because it's economically advantageous for our kids. We work well together raising them, even if we aren't compatible as a couple. I would be devastated if something happened to her.

    • @Secretagent71114
      @Secretagent71114 5 місяців тому

@Vandil_the_Rogue I know many sets of people, especially among my parents' and grandparents' friends, that were a disaster as a married couple and got divorced. Once divorced, they were best friends. You see them more together post marriage than during their marriage, with and without shared children. Several even decided to live together again as roommates and have lived longer that way than as a married couple. The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York are a prime example of such a relationship, specifically to continue raising their kids together in a way best for their daughters, and I admire them for it.

Diana was picked for him based on her bloodline and family pedigree. He didn't choose her ... he was told to court her and marry her. The woman he wanted he was told he couldn't have. He married who they told him to based on duty, and Diana was a young girl who went into it believing it would be the real deal and a love match. Ultimately, they were virtual strangers matched only for one purpose - to combine two families, and then create heirs for the Crown. They realized the marriage wasn't working, that things wouldn't change, and that a divorce was best for their boys and their own happiness. And it worked -- they were pretty good at co-parenting afterward. We see that he really was sad after she died. He may not have been in love with her but he cared about her as the mother of his boys.

People may disagree with me on this, but it's inevitable a small part of Diana stuck unto Charles even after he married Camilla. Some examples could probably be her love for Will & Harry compared to him and his mother (yes I do know she is struggling as queen), her opennes to reach out to people and how royalty can adapt to change which resulted in her as The People's Princess.

According to people who were there, she hardly had any injuries besides a bruise or two. The damage was internal and she did have sutures where the emergency doctors opened her chest cavity to massage her heart but she was covered by a sheet until her butler, Paul Burrell arrived with a black dress that was lent by the Ambassador's wife. The nurses had dressed her and fixed her hair prior to Charles and Diana's sisters arrival. Paul Burrell said that she looked like she was asleep. There was nothing ghastly but it's a good thing that the producers decided not to show her body out of respect.

I asked my Mom(whom was married to my Dad til death parted them)if Charles mourned Diana. She answered that yes, he did. She gave him two sons. She was his first wife. They were together for 15 years, and some of those years were happy. And Diana was so very young when they were married. My Mom said Charles wept for all that was between them.

Not crocodile tears. If nothing else, tears of pent-up tension released, and tears of grief for the boys growing up without their beloved mother. We must remember also that some people would rather take a “just desserts” and “crocodile tears” approach to avoid having to feel rightly-due sympathy for someone they don’t like as a person (which is their prerogative), in a situation that is awful for anyone by all normal moral standards.

We all agree he treated her like shit messed with her mental health, and made her feel like an obstacle to his true love, but there were some moments when there was love and despite all that has happened divorced or not she was still his wife and mother of his children they were married for 15 years and had two sons you don't go married for that long and not have some feelings even if they are small and in this moment he is realizing how much he envyed her how she was everything his family told him he couldn't be and how poorly he treated her since she was the families choice not his all that regret along with some of the good times and there were good times it just ate at him destroying him as he sees her lifeless body.

One thing His Majesty did acknowledge and respected in regards to Diana. Her love for their children. And yes at some point he did love her. To some? It's just "petty show off love" to make Diana's adoring fans a bit calm. But to me, there is still a teeny tiny bit of love for her. No one, no sane human being (well I guess white Americans because they're known to crave violence) would ever wish death upon their ex. His Majesty was being human here.
And he has respect for Diana, for her passions, her beliefs and her love for Wills and Harry. Even Her Majesty Queen Camilla has immense respect for Diana.

  • @yesterdayitrained

I think PC loved Diana very much. She wasn’t the love of his life, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t love her. And although he had absolutely nothing to do with her death, I am sure he still felt somehow responsible. Horrified, devastated, bereaved, and thinking this was very much not how her life was supposed to end. And knowing the pain his children would go through, losing their beloved mother at such young ages.
I witnessed their marriage and saw everything that happened after- many people felt PC was the villain, but he wasn’t. It was a struggle for both of them, and as his former wife and mother of his 2 children, he only wished the best for her.

Sure, had it not for him she wouldn't have been in that special car at that specific moment, but that's true of everyone's partner.
