The game starts in 1848, which is exactly when the "Schleswig-Holstein Question" becomes a problem for Denmark. Effectively, between 1848 and 1920, Schleswig-Holstein was not Danish and was indeed a German state. A similar situation exists regarding the Alcasian/Elsassian area on this map, which is a part of modern France.
These RT3 LPs are great! You made me re-install the game, and I'm having just as much fun as I had the first couple of times I played it several years ago. If you're going to do more of these, would you do one of the Oriental Express scenario? I found that to be a tricky one, but really great fun. Thanks for doing these! Greetings, from Sweden.
Nice Video. I Really loved playing this game. Actually I thought about making a LP about it, but not quite sure. Historically also interesting, cause I'm from Germany. I like the discussion about historical facts in the comments. ;)
Like quill said, sand is for going up hills, but for other uses too. What locomotive sand really does is just give the wheels more traction, meaning sand could also be used on wet track and, if possible, track covered in ice! Now, this feature makes the game a noticeable unrealistic feature due to the fact the early steam locomotives like The Rocket didn't have a locomotive sand system and the system wasn't even made until as early as around the 1880's(from my resources).
This looks very possible for the automated cargo movement! I'm still wondering what they might use to spread the change of pricing. I know that Creeper World uses heat transfer simulations to handle the creep spread, and I could see demand/supply acting very much like heat/cold.
In the off chance you see this Quill I was curious if it'd be okay if I wrote a sort of fanfic for this one. I loved your Railroad Tycoon series when I was younger and I want to try to practice some writing since it's been a while
Any thoughts on doing a livestream / youtube uploaded play of Transport Giant Gold edition 2012? Do remember to create a folder named "save" or you'll loose all progress when pressing esc, though. :D
Quill, I am only familiar with the earlier versions of RRT, but how were you able to make so much money with so many bonds? Also, I wish you would do a video on one of the more economy based scenarios, where you have to be the only company and have the highest net worth etc.
About the pronounciation of the cities, for example: We pronounce the "v" usually as an "f", so it would be "BremerhaFen". The "z" is like a "ts" and the "t" is a real "t", not a "d" like in american english ;) So "SalTSgiTTer", not "Salsgidder". The "a" is more like an "ah" sound, not the short english "a". The "w" pronounces more like your "v" -> "Volfsburg". The "u" is more like a double "o" but still different. Generally the vowels are often(not always) spoken as if an "h" was at the end.:)
Thank you. Pretty fast solution, as i spend more time to develop my industry and connect my e.g. brewery with farms etc. Wolfsburg the town you started building your network was founded 1938 by Hitler LOL. ;) and yes every single country got its own currency till 1873 when the Mark replaced them. It was a lot of fun as RRT 3 is also my favorite game. Thanks again and i hope to watch more.
Quill why is one ear always louder than the other in all your videos? Maybe it's the one flaw that must happen, since it's a natural law that nothing is ever perfect.
Quill can you try and shorten the videos a bit, i want to watch this but i dont have time to watch an hour long video keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I remember from history lesson, the German revolution of 1848 was not as "successful" as it is stated in this game. It might be called successful, but if I'm not mistaken, the only real victory they could achieve was the right to smoke in public :D I might be completely wrong though :P
If when you set trains up, if they go 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,4,3,2,1 Quill made a half a million dolloar pointless track; if they go 1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6 it was a good investment
so, you build a line from Bob to Bob right through Bob with a double track to connect Bob and Bob by a speed line. And your mission is to connect Bob, Bob, Bob and Bob to each other and for silver also connect Bob to the other places earlier to connect. Then for the gold earn enough money in the province of Bob in the country Bob. Should be fun:D.
If they have lips and a vocal coord they can. Either way even if people pronounced it kobenhavn it would be closer than the bastardization that is Copenhagen...
That as it may be it is quite common to pornounce them as v's in english. You don't see us danes complaining over people calling our capital Copenhagen, instead of København do you? hehe :)
Normally I would cut this in half, but I'm still setting up my video editing software after the reformatting.

In my next video, all German city names will be pronounced "Bob".

First video I've been able to watch in over a month. I'm really glad it's this!
Maybe sounds fun, but I'm understanding and learning a lot of economics from these railroad tycoon let's play. Thanks Quill18!
i saw a lot of your RT3 and are awasome!! love to watch it.
thanks quill18
P.S. you could have a carrer in commentary XD

I was NEVER able to gain a gold medal in this scenario but after watching your walkthrough I did it.
You rock quill18!
This looks very possible for the automated cargo movement!

31:02 "Holy Cow" nice one Quill. Not sure if the pun was intentional or not.
I love this game! Probably one of if not my favorite tycoon.
In the off chance you see this Quill I was curious if it'd be okay if I wrote a sort of fanfic for this one.

It's used for traction to go up hills!

Do remember to create a folder named "save" or you'll loose all progress when pressing esc, though. :D
Thank you quill for uniting us :-D
And can someone please explain what the trains need the sand for? I'm puzzled.
The relationship between Railroad Tycoon 3 and Railroads! is like the relationship between Victoria and Victoria 2.
It's funny how you spell those city names :D
Quill I was wondering is there any way you can set you're own goals in this game? Or is it just automated and repeated?
Quill, I am only familiar with the earlier versions of RRT, but how were you able to make so much money with so many bonds?
Also, I wish you would do a video on one of the more economy based scenarios, where you have to be the only company and have the highest net worth etc.
Is this the same Railroad Tycoon 3 as the one you played Go West part or is it an expansion?

Dresden....Do the Dresden Files perhaps take place there?
15M for the Netherlands is a real steal! Think of all the weed you'll be able to transport :-)
Welcome back Quill! How was your holiday?
You certainly did your homework on this one! great show
I have a question: Do cities/towns grow?
Yes, depends also how you connect the citys.
Yes i love this game, and its just getting better when you are playing it :D
Yes. In fact, connecting your railroad can contribute to a town's growth
Quill why is one ear always louder than the other in all your videos? Maybe it's the one flaw that must happen, since it's a natural law that nothing is ever perfect.
this is by far my favorite scenario in the campaign :D
Quill can you try and shorten the videos a bit, i want to watch this but i dont have time to watch an hour long video keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've really struggled to get gold on this level. I end up always having one state left that I don't quite manage to save up for :(
Enjoyed this quite a lot, never seen it LPd before
Thank you for posting more of this game. I love it. :)
Not sure why but I could never get into RT3. It just looked wrong compared to RT2 when I tried it way back when :/
Really love the Railroad Tycoon 3.
Awsome video Quill hope you make more.
Interesting Wolfsburg and Bremerhaven don´t exist 1848 xD
zuckerschneuzchen Bremerhaven existed. In the Year 1827 it was founded and Named Bremerhaven.
Source : en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremerhaven
With Wolfsburg you are Right
so does this mean the capital of Germany is now going to be Hannover?
As I remember from history lesson, the German revolution of 1848 was not as "successful" as it is stated in this game. It might be called successful, but if I'm not mistaken, the only real victory they could achieve was the right to smoke in public :D
I might be completely wrong though :P
i have to say something about that there was a war in 1848 to 1850 about schleswig-holstein which denmark won but the lost the area again i 1864
My hometown is on the map at the beginning, even though it's way smaller than other cities in that area
I think Hanover was the Pound because it was a union with Britain until Victoria ascended the throne...
Do Japan Quakes please. The Shinkansen and the Japanese rail system is awesome.
If when you set trains up, if they go 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,4,3,2,1 Quill made a half a million dolloar pointless track; if they go 1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6 it was a good investment
I just realized your railroad tracks look like a swastika o.o
I think it foreshadows what is to come in Germany...
Love these! Thanks quill!
...pretty sure the currency was called Reichsmark, at that time.
Thanks! Wow, that's actually quite brilliant, yet so simple :-D
3 people only connected 6 german states
your pronounciation wasn't that bad :D i hope you'll do a 2nd Railroad Tycoon "episode"
Who else when they play this game connects the little towns just cuz you feel bad for them?
You Should Do More Railroad 3 Videos!
Thank you very much quill :D
This was on easy difficulty
Americans Pro-NOUN-see-a-shun. British Pro-nun-see-a-shun
hi. thanks for the info and sorry to bother you. I just browsed videos not reading the desc. sorry again and thanks!
This is a REAL game,
so, you build a line from Bob to Bob right through Bob with a double track to connect Bob and Bob by a speed line. And your mission is to connect Bob, Bob, Bob and Bob to each other and for silver also connect Bob to the other places earlier to connect. Then for the gold earn enough money in the province of Bob in the country Bob. Should be fun:D.
I didn't mean to offend you of course ;-) Just thought you might be interested in the language.
How about "Hans" or "Fritz"? :-P
u should do the New Beginnings scenario
If they have lips and a vocal coord they can. Either way even if people pronounced it kobenhavn it would be closer than the bastardization that is Copenhagen...
The first minute of this video...does NOT sound like a railroad tycoon game. xD I had to check the title like 3 times.
Smart guy see it as a joke, yet some who aren't took my question too seriously. :D
That as it may be it is quite common to pornounce them as v's in english.
You don't see us danes complaining over people calling our capital Copenhagen, instead of København do you? hehe :)
You are trolling us right? :D
But that is only with German accents, in American, the pronunciations sound very awkward.
Do more videos about this game.
I didn't complain ;-) Just wanted to share some, if unwanted, knowledge. :-P
Johann Gambolputty. :D
You're great in economics, but you should look for better layout and train routes and overall infrastructure.
Your sound wasn't so good back then, didn't botter me though.
Yes they do.
No need to be overtly rude about it, heh.
Yes, a sim!
It is in the title. Is it that hard to type. God damn i hope you have not gone past 6th grade yet other wise that is very sad.
what game is this? :D
Facepalm.....
You're*
i started this vid at 9:01 pm and at 10:00 i was only 45 minutes through. WTF!!!
I live in Bremen😂
i agree with soregone13
quill it pronenced hannofer because german v are spoken as f
Foreigners can't pronounce æøå...
moar
.......
Seriously? That is one dumb comment.
I play Call of Duty, and wtf is this shit?
