    The tutorial is very good. If you use more wide board and use green or blue instead of pink marker that would be better, I think.

    the explanation for zero dipole moment of CCl4 is technically incorrect. (it is tetrahedral, so you have to add up the vectors to cancel them out)

    How can dipole moment in CCL4 be zero since the chlorine atoms do not lie on a straight line, so how can the vectors cancel each other out?

      If they go in different ways they’ll basically cancel each other which makes it non polar :) so there will be no dipole moment or force

      V- shape is more correct as the angle between xe and f is less than 180 degree due to lone pair - lone pair repulsion

    Hello....can you please explain the dipole moment of benzene.....Please....

    • @milabedford9232
      @milabedford9232  8 років тому

      Hey! Benzene (C6H6) is a non-polar molecule due to its structural symmetry. If you check out a structural diagram of the molecule, we see that the dipoles formed by the C-H bonds are symmetric and therefore "cancel out" and result in a net dipole of 0. Equal and opposite vectors result in a net dipole of zero. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps!
