What are your thoughts on A6400 in 2024? 🤔
Worth it
Worth it, i use it for social media videos
just a question that there are some rumors of A6400 successor or we can say A7000 so what to do
and one more question I am thing to buy this but getting A6000 + 16-50mm + 55-210mm and accessories under 360 $ with less than 6K shutter count in very good or we can say new condition, What to do ?
@@thetechheart The 16-50mm and the 55-210mm are very old lenses at this point and may be replaced with a version 2 soon.
I got mine with the 18-135mm kit lens which is pretty versatile and would be a great choice for when you want to bring one lens on a trip or something. The aperture isn't the best, though, and I struggle to get nice background separation unless I'm zoomed in all the way. However, I honestly don't find myself needing to reach out all the way to 135mm for most photos, and when I do need that kind of range I wish I had more.
If I could go back in time I would've bought it with the 16-50mm kit lens and start saving for better lenses, or just the body so I could pair it with the Tamron 17-70mm which would complement the Sony 70-350mm.
Still using it!!!! But I’d just love if it had ibissss
I've had the camera for a couple of years and haven't regretted it one bit! Recently completed my first short film shoot with it and the result is impeccable!
How do you get the most out of the autofocus/ How do you focus your shots on the fly? I'm a storm chaser and I'm trying to figure out a good option to focus my video fast and reliably.
Mind you give a link to watch
I have been taking pictures since my grandfather bought me a camera on my 14th birthday. In 2018 I have decided to upgrade it and the guy in the shop I was at told me to go with the a6400. It was so natural for me to get to know the camera and it's such a lightweight and yet takes absolutely awesome pictures. I love it still. ❤
Made my living with this camera for three years until upgrading to the FX30. Excellent camera and great value for the money! I still use it as a B-cam.
Got mine November 2022 and it was the first camera I ever bought myself. I borrowed my cousin's Canon EOS Rebel T3i for a while but I found it to be really cumbersome to bring with me on trips, so I never used it much. I remember going to a Best Buy and comparing the size of my Canon to the a6400 (the Canon body was literally like twice the size). Now I bring my a6400 with me on every trip I go to.
Basically the same story as me! My dad got me started on his old astro-modded Canon T1i. Unfortunately, the astro-mod got in the way of my photos a lot, and so I decided I wanted an upgrade. Saved up and got my a6400 in November as well! Only complaints are the colors are a bit wonky, video has rolling shutter, and the lenses are more expensive!
Lol same story to the T. I'm still learning how to use it but I definitely enjoy film quality and the pictures come out dope imo
I just purchased this camera with a kit lens a few months back, and I couldn’t be happier. I watched a lot of your videos while you were using this camera and can’t thank you enough for your insight Curtis.
I am just new to sony a6400. Can you please tell me why I am getting too much noise on my Sony a6400 using 16-50 kit lens.
@@suoli6421 Your ISO is probably too high. To minimize noise, open up your aperture as much as possible and bring your ISO as low as possible.
By default the a6400 has the maximum ISO set to like a hundred thousand or something crazy like that. Try limiting the ISO in the settings to 12800.
Ayyy thanks awesome to hear! Stocked for you! Glad my content has been helpful and insightful always appreciat hearing that! 🤙
Please what lenses do you use for video, vlogging?
I just bought my A6400 yesterday. I was inspired by your content.
That's awesome dude! Enjoy your new Camera! 🤙
Thanks mang, Im starting an architecture degree this fall and have been confused on what camera would work best for me. Your vid was a huge help - thank you for showing work done of the camera from various sources!!
A6400 owner here and still in love with it. Such a strong little camera in so many ways. Cheers from Canada 🍁 Brett
I just brought this camera, Im new in the photography/videography world, would you say this is good for videography
@@ashleybaker2776yes because that’s what it’s made for
Ive owned this camera for about 6 months with the plan to go full frame eventually. I have a few lenses and i don't regret my purchase of this camera. I love the thing. I bring it every where and the photos it can take are fantastic.
I'm not a camera expert at all, but am looking for a new camera. And I wondered how much putting on a different lens can change this particular camera...apparently the A6400 is a crop frame, but can a different lens make it a full frame? Also in regards to stabilization, certain lenses can change this. I was going to get the Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Vlogger Camera with 18-135mm OSS Lens Kit, and apparently the 18-135mm lens has some stabilization, while the smaller lens, the 16-50mm does not. Can getting a different lens (bigger and more expensive) change either the stabilization, and/or the crop frame (making it full frame)?
@@pickacardreading you cannot make a camera full frame just by changeing a lens, a cameras sensor is either ff or aspc no in between. What you can do is get a speed booster which will eliminate most of the crop you get from a aspc sensor.
is the display low quality?
its not a great display but it works perfectly fine for the price if you try to look close enough you can see the jagged pixels@@Invintius
This was my first camera and I love it still. I recently bought a used A7R ii and I like it as well. My Voigtlander lenses work well on both with different results but the a6400 is a better quick travel choice. I use the EVF 100% of the time and the 6400 is easy to learn to make all adjustments in M mode while looking through the EVF. And it is a great camera with manual lenses. The focus and 2x zoom work great by programming a button.
How is the a6400 evf to the a7r?
@@Nine.siixxx The evf on the a7r Ii is better but I find the evf on the 6400 fine to use. I use it all the time.
Yes! A tutorial setup for stills on the A6400. Your quick setup buttons and how you use them would be so sweet!
Still a great camera! Between the a6400 and the zve10, you still get a great photography/videography camera at a good price point with lots of less expensive lens choices!
Couldn't agree more with you mate! Your NYC POV with the Sony ZVe10 top tier! 🤙
I'm still using A6000 since 2018 i think or 2017. Still got it. With the 18-105 f4 on it. Honestly I love it.
I've always wanted to give an A6000 a spin, cause those camera are great! 📸
just bought this camera in the end of November 2022, with which I traveled to Namibia, Indonesia and Timor-Leste. I had a6000 which I purchased while I was in college but already sold, so it's a nice upgrade. The lens I have are 18-105mm, 11mm, and 35mm.
We use this camera with a 50mm prime as a second angle for corporate interviews. The image is amazing. The only caveat is that face priority AF does not work in 4K.
I just got an a6100 as a gift. It’s still a great camera.
Thanks for the feature man!
As for the camera, I'm a Canon user but I pretty much steer any newcomers to this camera, great specs for a beginner and the lens ecosystem is the big reason I tell noobs to steer away from Canon if they still want to be able to afford dinner lol
Haha biggest question for you man, when you gonna take your own advice and switch to Sony 😉 jks
@@CurtisPadley 🤣 I'm too deep into Canon, otherwise I would switch haha
Is Canon a lot like Apple( in an exclusivity kinda thing)? I’m new to the camera scene in case you didn’t know
@@malikgraham1824 yep, this is literally what I tell newcomers!
Great video, Curtis. Also, finally someone who pronounces NIKON as it has to be.
Haha thanks dude! NIKON! 😂🤙
Excellent tutorial. Keep up the good work.
I still have and use my first A6400 since 2020. I went out and bought a second one for back up. Although I also own a A7ii & A7iii but prefer my A6400s for travel cause of its compact size and variety of good quality APS-C G lens. I also have full frame lenses, but carrying them on trips are pretty cumbersome. Being from Hawaii I need to travel as light as possible. I also use them (A6400) in the surf as I also purchased a water housing from Salty Surf Housings in Australia. The A6400 is well worth it.. I guess I will start hash tagging you... LOL. Thanks
That b-roll was magnificent!
Of course it's worth it. I just got a Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 lens and it's just a killer combo, along with my Sigma 1.4 trinity.
Just make sure you get enough batteries. The Duracell NP-FW50 is 50% cheaper but is just as good as the original Sony battery.
you are absolutly Right My Friend This Litle one is my favorite even tho i just got the a7iv
I just bought one for $600 on eBay. It's in really good shape with a rig cage and screen protector. It has 16K on the shutter but I'm not concerned about that because it's rated for 200K. I'm planning to use it as mainly a photography camera but also for video. I currently have a Sony NEX-EA50 professional video camera which can do up to 1080p60, but it's large and I want something small I can use with a cheap overhead camera mount. Thankfully, it uses the same APS-C E-mount lenses so I can use the 18-200mm zoom lens on my new a6400, since I bought only the camera body. I had an a6000 but I sold it because it had no 3.5mm input.
great video, straight information no chaser. keep up the amazing work
Next please do a video about different lens choices for the 6400 PLEAAAAASE
I love sigma 18-50 and 36 as my kit. Serves as a 24-70 and 50 full frame equivalent. I don’t use a wider one much but you can def replace the 36 for the 16
These lens are all you need for the a6400 and keep in mind I'm oss is your friend.
Sony 50mm f/1.8 oss
Sony 35mm f/1.8 oss
Sony 90mm f/2.8 oss
Sony 55-210mm f/4.5
Upgrade would be for this would be Sony 70-350mm f/4.5
Tamron 17-70 f/2.8
With these lens in your kit, you would be set. Now yes there are other lenses and she can get but only if you live on a tripod if you're mostly handheld delorenzo's will get you far and even do professional work.
They helped me get gig work with this same body so I highly recommend
@@HagaishiSamawhat about Sony 18 - 135mm or 18 - 200mm LE lens for Sony a6400 camera ??
@roshanbayyana9180 Not a fan of the 18-135 or the 18- 200. I would pick the 55-210 or 70-350 any day over them. Just better glass and much softer then the later.
I get it some people like to find an all-purpose Zoom so have to worry about multiple lenses but if you're looking for something on the wide part they just get the Tamron 17-70 f2.8. Way way sharper and it has OSS. If you want something on the telephoto end then get the 55-210 f/4.5. It's shaper then the 18-135 or 18-200. Or the 70-350 which is the sharpest out of all of the affordable telephoto lens for apsc.
You could get a 70-200 f/2.8 GM Il but that's really pricey. But if you're still on the fence look up somebody's lenses versus the others on UA-cam there are plenty of people who've made videos comparing different lenses that I just recommend it for you
@@HagaishiSama 18 - 135 lens have 3.5 to 5.6 aperture but 55 - 210 have f/4.5 how it will get sharper photos than 18-135mm. If i took tamron 17-70mm ill miss all the extra mm 18 - 135 lens is offering rigjt. Suggest a single lens for a6400 without swapping two lenses for two different purposes.
thinking of getting a6400 or the canon r50, what do you recommend?
i just started pushing myself into getting serious with Photography and videophraphy . the sony a6400 is somthing i was recommended. would love to see you do a tutorial on what you use and how you use your editing programs as i feel thats my biggest love hate relationship atm. woukd much appreciate it!
I love my a 6100 and it’s just like the 6400 the 4k is downscaled from 6k it’s amazing camera and it’s worth it!! Autofocus is amazing everything is amazing
I used the A6400 for 2 years, upgrading from A6000 for new exciting 4k capabilities.. that are not really there. Rolling shutter makes 4k almost unusable, so all the video profiles, etc.. are not very used in my case. Image Quality is the same of A6000, the main differences I feel are: metal case, inclinometer, microphone input and connectivity. I like the extra Bluetooth connectivity because enable mobile apps to do remote control and focus bracketing without the crappy WiFi.
I sold my a6500 & got a grey import a6400 for less than I sold my 6500 , Ive used it ever since as my b-camera to my a7riii .... Its been a great camera & I still love it in 2024
I think I'll get it as a second small & lightweight camera. And it seems so fun to use
Of course it’s still worth it! It’s an amazing camera esp for on the go! I use my a7iii and my a6400 to shoot photo and video!
Chicago is like the homiest city ever, to me. Definitely make the trip!
Perfect timing. I've been considering this for my first camera and up you pop with this video 😁 nice one!
i just got it bro, pair it with a sigma lense it’s so fire
Canon latest is r50 but rf lenses are limited and expensive and sony a6400 is old but has lens options
I am so confused between 2 in 2023
I'm so much pumped up to buy this camera after watching your videos about A6400❤️
Bought mine a few months ago at Best Buy for 750. I love it, don’t regret at all!
Just placed an order today - to pair with my zv-e1
Thank you so much for this video mate!
this video is helpful thank you!
Cameras never go out of date.
You commented that on my ZV-E10 video. You gonna spam this on all my videos dude! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love how the Tamron label falls off to reveal SIGMA! Your videos are too awesome
The library is in Seoul. Such a gorgeous place
i just got this camera as my last camera was Canon in 2013. Getting back to photography.
Finally got mine!! 😍😍 A6400
I got mine since june 2022 it’s still my main camera for photography 🙏🏿🙏🏿 need lens updates tho
Wicked camera init! Have a look at a prime lens, like a 50 F1.8 🤙
got this camera paired with two sigma lenses. great travel camera. so compact.
Can one use this as professional camera in wedding..n other
I freakin love this camera.. I have mine for about 4 months now. But I will sell this close to the end of this year, I'll be making the switch to Full Frame to the Sony A7sIII.
Biggest thing to me is the Video Dynamic Range, 4k60 4k120 & 16 bit with the Ninja Atomos V..
This is why I always recommend sony, cause the transition from cropped sensor to Fullframe is so easy! Enjoy the upgrade when you get it! 👌
@@CurtisPadley Thanks man! I'm waiting for the A7S IV.. depends if how different it is to the A7S III I'll pull the trigger. 😁
Rumors are that it's gonna release close to the end of this year 😃
Yay I made it to the feature list! Great video thanks for the review. Definitely think its still worth it
I love my a6400, it's took lot of great photos to me
Have it for 1 year now, and i love it!
trust me that’s the beast ✅🔥
Thank you so much for this video!
Great vid! Thanks very informative. Planning to get this with the new Viltrox 75mm 1.2
Still a solid camera! Hopefully though, sony will release some new asp-c camera's.
I would have liked this camera to have ibis and 4k 60fps and maybe a bit more mp.
Sony fx30!
Yes
Man, I’m so stoked for this camera. I’m currently on the m43 setup with a Lumix G85, but I’m looking to jump up one format and the a6400 has had my eye for a few months now. Hoping to pull the trigger on it soon and start creating on this beauty!
A6400 would be a great upgrade dude! 🤙
Did u end up doing it? I'm in similar situation. I have gx85 and thinking of going a6400 but wasn't sure how much I would really gain
Great video :Thanks! Still considering/steuggling to decide between a6400, a6600 or a7c..
Especially cause they anounced / rumored a7000 and a7cii..
For me this is the best Camera, but i struggle so hard between the ZVE10 vs the A6400.. because of the flip and tilt screen xD but the 6400 is Weather sealed.. hum.. idk which to get /:
I think Weather Sealed is more importend then the flip screen, or ?
The library is in Seoul Korea.
Beautiful shots! Thank you for the video. I own an a7riii and fuji x100V. I'm considering the combination of the a6400 and sigma 18-50mm f2.8
Sony a6400 or Sony a73??
A7m3 released in 2018 & a6400 released in 2019??
Which is best camera??
Or any better alternatives??
i just bought one yesterday and got the 18mm lens. 👌
Getting mine next week.. 😍😍
Did you recommend this for beginner dog photography??
I just bought mine last month. Deals here with used earlier models sucks
A6100 vs a6400? for picture only… 😊
You can do more with this camera then a Leica q q2 q3 and yet have the ability to use multiple lenses where as leica thinks you have to use a 28mm and punch in cropping down to garbage sizes. Plus it is lighter then the Leica as well.
Great video I’m going to get one soon thank you 🎉
For entry level is one of the best choices? Do you recommend this camera for someone that focus in videos ?
I still own mine and use when can’t run around with the bmpcc 4k. Paired with the Anton Bauer battery it last all day.
Nice info bruh ! Even my first camera is Nikon D5200 and I have used it for 6 years😁 3:08
Can u please suggest me which camera I can upgrade to for photography?
Hello! What do you call the thing you used to adjust the place of the mic? Can’t seem to find it on the links at your description. Thank you 😊 Great and informative video btw!🙌🏼💯
What lens do you use for you street photography?
im thinking of getting this camera but im conflicted in getting it with the kit 16 - 50mm or 18 - 135mm. Im also into street photography and I'd like a small and lightweight camera for travels. I already have a DJI pocket 2 for vlogging 😄
Sony 18-135mm is a far better choice. It is small, light with a great range, has stabilization and a much better image than the 16-50mm.
Dude i might still buy it now as my first cam
Sony a6400 vs canon r50 or nikon z30 which is better for photography??
My first cam as a Nikon D40 6mp
When you don't have the financial resources of others, any camera at a good price is worth buying.
I currently shoot video and take photos on my phone (iPhone 13 Pro), do you think an A6400 will be worth getting as my first real camera? I was debating between this one, or breaking the bank and going for either an a7iii or an a7iv.
My ideas were either A6400 and Sony FE 16-35 F2.8 or either one of the A7s with a Sigma 24-70 F2.8.
Just an opinion, you might want to try to get a used A6400 to see if you like having a camera to shoot your videos and photos with. You might also want to get used APSC lenses to start with. You can sell them later if you decide not to have a camera or even upgrading to a newer model or to a full frame camera. Best to do after you get a camera is to use it everyday. Have fun!
Best budget camera imo
I love my a6400, I shoot in almost complete darkness sometimes at an improv dance class I teach and the low to no light handles on this camera are insane. Great great camera!
Which lense do you use?
@@violettamae9388 sigma56
Yes it is, next question.
that sigma looked beautiful on the a6400 but it’s a full frame right?
I just got this Sony A6400. Any tips on getting the files from the camera? Via iPhone/Windows PC? Is there any programs/apps?
which cold shoe mount is that corner bracket?
Is it good for begginer or those person who use occasionally.? Plz suggest
Great video!
I live my a6400 I use it as a b cam I didn't realize how important stabilization would be I never wanted to do video but I have a7iv now for photography and try to use it with my feiyutech g6max but it's not as stable as I want I also take it to family trips it's amazing also my hands are huge I cannot use it without the small rig
how much would you pay for used one?
I'm now in my 5th year using my a6000. It starting to have small issues and I always loved the feel of the better body of the a6300/6400.
Used ones go for 700 bucks here which is almost the same price as new back then lol.
Mine is still working a like a champ 😊
I am looking to purchase my first photography camera. It seems like mirrorless is the way to go from what I’ve read. This camera looks absolutely perfect, what are your thoughts on a $500 used A6300?
I don't recommend to buy your first as a used, because you will always feel like there is something missing, just try to save more and buy any budget new camera, this is my total personal opinion, maybe it's not applicable to you.
@@ahmedalihendy I actually ended up buying a new Nikon Z50 with kit lenses!
Was there ever a follow up with lenses to start with?
It better be worth it, I just bought one a few months ago :V
I would say it's still worth it.
You just need a good lens and creativity 👌
Well, for some reason my camera doesn't track focus on 4k? The option gets automatically disabled?
Hey! I am confused between a6400 or canon R50 / Canon M50 Mk II as sony doesn't have in buit flash..
Im one step away of getting the A6400, but this week I heard some rumors about sony refreshing the A6XXX series with new cameras, so I think I will wait at least til Q2 2023, great video!
