Who knew shading curtains could be this easy!?! Obviously, I didn't until now. The effect is amazing once all the colors are added. I can apply this to clothing and blankets, etc. The lesson only took less than 15 minutes and the intimidation factor went from a five to a zero. Probably the most useful 15 minutes of my day :)
I am currently following your fantastic tutorial for the rich velvet drapes. I have half of them done and you are so right. It is very easy peasy. LOL With the help of Johanna's design and your talking me through the scary parts I am so pleased with my end result. Thank you Claire for your help. I am so appreciative of you giving so freely of your talent.
Hello Clair.....Cherry here from New Zealand... recently discovered you 😀I’m learning so much and loving your tutorials, you speak so well and it’s so calming, peaceful to listen to you. I have all Johannas books 💜💜💜. Thing is I’m ugh so nervous to start colouring a page, 😬I know I know just start 😬.!!! 2020 is my year to make some colouring time, I have set up my spare room, had fun buying pencils etc (love art shops). Thank you Clair for sharing. 😍😍😍. 🍒
Thank You so much Claire for doing this great tutorial, i really enjoy to watch and everythings is so clear with your great tips and technique, it's a real Joy to learn from you!
I really love how you colored the dragon on this page. He looks great. I absolutely love this book. I'm hoping I can order it this month. It will be a cherish book. I'm new to the coloring community so I'm always worried about ruining my books and your tutorials are always very helpful.

Didn't know how to use black. Thank you. But my hands are so cramped just looking at your tutorial. How do you keep pressure on your hands, arm and shoulder?
@@ClaireHoloway it's totally okay no biggie. Thank you for responding. I'll go check out that video. I thought I had watched all your videos. Oh and by the way I had to tell you my 10 month old son loves to hear you talk. He will get real quiet when I'm watching your videos and if I stop it he will start crying til I turn it back on lol
What type of pencil sharpener do you use? My Tuscan Red breaks ALL the time. I’ve even purchased another one and it also broke. Please share what pencil sharpener you use. Thank you so so much!! Love your tutorials :)
Kristie Hayes I have a professional Swordfish I bought from Amazon, but they’re not cheap. They run from £40-£90, but it is the best one I’ve ever had. If you’re buying open stock you might have an issue if the pencils aren’t well packaged enough in transit.
Claire Holoway Colouring I have 2 set of the 150 Prismacolor’s & a set of 72. All my Tuscan Reds have broken. I went to buy open stock locally but the ones they had were not in good shape either so I declined to purchase at the time. Would you mind giving a link to the type of sharpener you use? I would love to try it out. I’ve already purchased an X-acto wall mounted sharpener that just eats pencils, an actual Prismacolor sharpener that is awful. I purchased a Kum and it is great but not on certain Prismacolor’s bc they are so much softer than others in the same set. I’ve kept a list from all of my sets the order in which the cores break and on what date. This last set I meticulously inspected each pencil and made note of anything that was slightly off including oof the core was not centered. I have spent about more $ than I care to admit on art supplies and quite a bit on Prismacolor’s and they aren’t even my favorite. Currently the Polychromos are but it is difficult to find tutorials on those probably bc of cost. That is why I haven’t purchased their watercolor pencil set or tried other pricier pencils yet. I decided I would force myself to learn what I need with the Prismacolor’s first before purchasing anything else and if I cannot sharpen them then I cannot use them. I do like the Prismacolor’s but the cores break so easily. And while it is usually the packaging it is difficult to get a store to take a set back after you have used them. This second set of 150 I purchased locally to see the difference between it and the set from Amazon. My Amazon set has had over 30 pencil cores break. The new store bought set has only had 4 break. Pretty huge difference. Thank you for your help. Sorry for the lengthy reply but the Prismacolor’s have been my problem child. Thank you :)

Would you do this technique for a red dress?
It's so rich looking.🥀
Yes :) anything fabric. I’ve used it for red velvet bows xxx
Are you coming back soon?

Awesome! Thank you!
Didn't know how to use black. Thank you. But my hands are so cramped just looking at your tutorial. How do you keep pressure on your hands, arm and shoulder?
To be honest I can say it ever bothered me that way. I know people who do have physical issues and they tend to layer up rather than burnish :)
can you do one for yellow so we can see the contrast?
What colors did you use on the dragon and the background around the dragons tale in this picture?
Brittany Miller dragon colours in very latest tutorial. Honestly struggling to remember the back drop - sorry.

Absolutely! Or velvet green 🤩
