I had overheating issues day 1. Bought an override fan switch on ebay .Now it runs at 180 f but I run the fan all the time. It was an easy fix connects right to fan harness. 1 wire to ignition on power.
I have one on both my Maverick and Renegade, they work great. I also have a fan over-ride switch on the Maverick so I can force the fan on when needed.
Well I don't know what to do. I hadn't ever cleaned my spark arrestor and I've never had overheating issues... So I did an oil change with 5w-50 Amsoil full synthetic, cleaned the spark arrestor, the spark plug and the air filter. The next day I did some hauling of wood and within an hour my King Quad 700 began showing overheat symbol... First time in 4 years I even saw that symbol... Go figure...
Take note that the stock Commander Muffler has a catalytic convertor built into it so for those of you saying it gets Cherry Red, you may have a bad muffler. Cats on cars get red hot when they fail and there's a lot of power loss. Just a side note.
Our Can Am Commander is a 2012 800 , we have noticed that it goes in to limp mode when we are working it (uphill) and says BRAKE ! BRAKE !.....????????
Have a 2013 can am that had a head gasket blown that has been repaired but still running hot. The top of the radiator is running hot but the bottom of the radiator is running cool. What could that be
Andrew Heier , I have the same problem . I don't think it's the bolts that are striped but what they bolted into have broken. What did you end up doing ?
Last time I rode mine it went into limp mode and by the time I got it back home my exhaust was cherry red and glowing. Any ideas on this? I took my spark arrestor out and checked my exhaust it was good. Now I just changed plugs in it. Just wondering if anyone else ever had this happen?
Get a pump sprayer and some purple power, or simple green degreaser.. Dilute the degreaser 1-1, or straight up… spray the ‘heck’ into your radiator. Let it sit about 15-20 mins.. hose it out.. do not use a pressure washer.. Just regular water hose pressure. Maybe do this 1-3 times… you’ll be suppressed at what comes out of there.. then give it another try… hope that helps,,, helped me and my bud on his 1000 Limited
Royal Purple’s “Purple Ice” additive has done wonders for my 1000r in Texas.
New subscriber and Commander 800 owner here, and I really appreciate your maintenance videos.

Sounds like it could possibly be airlocked somewhere in the cooling system.
TRY PULL THE THERMOSTAT...
So it seems that my allen head screws are stripped. Used commander I bought. What do you recommend to get those out?
Drill and tap new holes
