I bought my Revlon volumizer about 2 months ago after my hair stylist recommended it. She said you will look like you just had a blowout and she was right! I recommended it to many of my friends!!!! I’m addicted to it!!!

I tried the Revlon dryer once and was very awkward with it so I was going to give it away and purchase the dry bar version. I am so happy that I haven’t given the Revlon one away yet because I just watched your tutorial on it and you saved my life, my hair, And a shit ton of money! You’re the bomb girl. I think the Bristle Section of the dryer is meant to be used to grab the hair at the scalp and then as you turn and move the brush down the flat part straightens the hair. The fact that the revlon has more bristles probably means it grasps more hair and that’s why it smoother than the dry bar. Just a little FYI… I read an article probably two years ago from an ex dry bar employee and they said that their products are the exact same as some of the less expensive brands...You basically are paying $150 for The yellow color.

I own both. Yes drybar leaves my hair little frizzy than the revlon. Revlon gives a smoother result but it’s very damaging. I have seen less hair fall with Drybar . The revlon just pulls on the roots and gets very hot . So in the longer run I think Drybar . 💜💗

I’ve been using the Revlon one since very shortly after it came out. It gives me the best style I’ve ever had. People think I’m getting my hair cut differently, but I’m not. It saves so much time versus a round brush and regular dryer. I use it every day, so I probably need to use some heat protectant.... Thanks for the video!

I LOVE my Revlon dryer! I use it on high, until the last 90 seconds or so, then turn it down a notch. No damage to my hair whatsoever!
I'm 56, with mostly gray hair, and we all know that gray hair is frizzier. Other women with gray hair ask me how I get mine so smooth. I recommend this dryer every time.
I find a lot of women are afraid to use high heat, and that's part of why it works so well. I once asked my hairdresser why I can't achieve the same smooth results she does, and she mentioned that hairdressers usually use higher heat than people do at home, for one thing. She also mentioned that stylists generally use more quantity of product than people do at home.
Now, with my Revlon, I can just about match my hairstylist's results.

Because of your recommendation, I bought the Revlon brush styler. I have been using it for a few months. Like you, I love it! I have thick, wonky, coarse hair and this dryer makes my hair so much smoother and shinier. My hair is shorter than yours, but it works like magic on me too. I do switch from the high setting to the low setting when I find the high too hot. Thank you for the comparison demo. You always give us such good information. I appreciate your honesty.

I got the Revlon dryer after you showed it about a year ago. Ulta was having one of their 21 days of beauty and it was a hot buy and I think I got it for under $30!! I LOVE it. I have fine hair that also has gotten thinner with age and I use a styling product with it and use it on high and it works great! If I use the low setting it takes forever and ends up not coming out as smooth. So everybody has different hair and different things that work for them. You have to do what works best for YOUR needs and style. As long as your hair is and looks healthy , which it does, it is doing fine. I am happy with my Revlon and don't feel the need to spend $150 to buy a copy!

I use the Revlon regularly and use the ‘cool’ setting on my thick hair. It’s as powerful as the high and still warm, as I find the high setting too hot.
    I like it.

I’ve been using the revlon for over 2 years now and it’s my absolute favourite. The one I have now still works great, but the bristles are starting to fall out so I’m going to repurchase. Ok, ladies, please remember to use hearing protection when using blow dryers. Most blow dryers are between 80-95 decibels and permanent hearing damage occurs beginning at 85 decibels. Combine that with dryers being held very close to ears for extended periods of time, often daily, so hearing damage is pretty much assured.

I am in LOVE with my Revlon dryer!!! I watched both you and Lisa J do tutorials/demos on the Revlon and went out and got it and have never looked back. I have extremely thick course hair and a ton of it. I can get an all most salon looking blowout . My daughter got one and my granddaughter wants one. I don’ need to use my flat iron except a tiny bit on my bangs. I have raved about it to all of my friends and I honestly get a ton of common my hair since I started using it - not kidding. It’s a miracle worker. My hair is in the best shape ever - my hair stylist says the same about mine and it’s growing - my friends actually thought I had hair extensions in lol

I just bought myself a Revlon for home ( and they too are Ionic) because it’s easy. I’ve been a Hairdresser and Master Colorist for over 30+ years. Heat is how we restructure curl without chemicals. Other wise we would have cold flat irons 🤣. ( Which would be damaging too) anyway we like simple tools at home sometimes too even if we own Dyson Dryer’s. Convenience and economical items make the World go round. Just keep using those Thermal protection products and you will be good!💜💜💜💜

    • @RisaDoesMakeup

Hi Kim, I can completely understand that argument when it comes to the Dyson vs Revlon, but not when comparing these two. There is no known differences in the technology. If the Drybar had improved on the technology in some way, I would think they’d be pointing that out instead of ignoring questions from consumers asking how it’s different.

When your hair was just air dried and curly and you pulled the top section back, I thought wow she’s really pretty! Do what you think is best for you and never mind negative and bossy commenters. Remember Thumper’s father’s rule...iIf you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all... You’re showing people a product, then it’s on them to decide what is better for their very different hair. Thanks for the demo. I would buy the Revlon. They’ve been around for years and years and I’ve purchased many of their products and have never been disappointed and have spent much less money. From one naturally curly head to another...you go girl!

Revlon is the best thing ever! I have long thick curly hair and can’t believe how awesome it is. I am buying another in case it breaks on me. I’ve had it one year plus

Thank you so much for this video!!! Everyone's raving over the Dry Bar tool, and I just wasn't sure if it's worth it. And I have REALLY curly hair, so talking about heat and everything was helpful. Thank you!

Woah it's incredibly helpful to see this on someone with the exact same hair (well yours is cut and colored nicer than at the mo). Thanks!

I have been looking into buying one and I think you just saved me money big time! I really like the revlon one it looks way less frizzyer

  • @Truther567

It did appear that at first the Drybar made your hair frizzier or looked dried out, not healthy. I’m sold on Revlon, the look AND the price. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to illustrate. 👏

We are the same...I have the same texture! Although my hair is long right now....down to bra strap. I have fine hair and have found that keeping my hair on the longer side makes it seem thicker..if I cut it it looks thinner. This is a super interesting video!

I really love my Revlon One step. Really smooths out the hair shaft. But you MUST use a heat shield for protection.

I guess it just depends on your hair type! I tried both too and the revlon one works great for a bit but in the long run it made my hair so crunchy, frizzy, and dry😞 I love my Drybar one though, I practically got it for free since I used my Ulta points so the price didn’t bother me. I have hair down to my butt and it doesn’t make it all dry and frizzy! It’s great, but it doesn’t beat my T3 featherweight that I got at costco😊

I've been thinking about getting the drybar because of this. She did another video talking about how the revlon damaged her sister's hair and a lot of people commented the same thing because it gets super hot compared to the drybar one.

I would agree with the more damp hair coming out smoother than when it’s air dried first. At least in my experience. Also, I will never go back to a regular blow dryer.

I have the Revelon hair dryer and I do love it! I must say it gets so hot that when I am dry around my face so I have to turn it down to low, but it works great! Thanks 🙏

Loved your comparison of these dryers. I think you are right the dry bar side doesn’t look as smooth. It’s slight but it also took you a lot longer to achieve the look you wanted and for it not to be as good that would be a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the video!

THANK YOU for posting this! I have been waiting for someone to do this. I am one of the many commenters asking DryBar what the difference is and thought their silence was suspect. No shame in them getting into the one-step game but it was only a matter of time people would figure out it's the same product as the Revlon for $40. I'm sure they saw it coming and that's why they did online orders only at first.

    • @RisaDoesMakeup

I totally agree with you. They are a hair product company/blowdry bar so it’s completely understand-able that they would want to put out a tool like this. There are regular hair dryers of vastly different pice points of course, but those usually have obvious differences that the brands are proud to disclose.

    • @carriegesiorski8087

@@RisaDoesMakeup Yep. I was actually hoping they were going to fine tune it and make it better somehow. I am like you - I'll shell out an extra $100 or so if it's better. There seemed like a lot of easy ways to make this higher-end and worth the cost (better ceramic plating, more heat settings, better bristles, something!). I am so glad you made this video before I bought one just to try it. I think you're the first person to do the comparison from what I can tell.

A year ago, I got the Drybar blow dryer, on sale, with a ton of product and accessories. I was fully prepared to return it. Except that my hair has never looked better. My hair still looks amazing so I will repurchase when necessary.
I'd love to try this brush.

I’m giving this dryer another try- I had it and returned it - wasn’t sure it was better than my old school round brush / dryer method-
    Your always helping me ...

Oh bummer! I just purchased the Drybar one this week after contemplating. Usually, I am partial to higher end hair care products and appliances. Thus, I went with Drybar. Fingers crossed that its "all that" with my hair. TBD. Thank Gawd for returns 😉. Great video. TY for all of your videos, I'm lovin' em. I am a new subscriber and have already put some of your excellent advice into my beauty routine. Oh and some new fav products too.💋💗 💃🏻

I have the same hair texture that you have. In order to smooth out the waves and curls I have to use quite a bit of heat and also have to start styling my hair while its very damp. Thanks for the informative tips.

Risa, thank you for this video, not only for the comparison, but for the screenshots I took of your hair once dried. I've been wanting to get my hair cut shorter, and wanted a cut that was easy to style, yet still has enough length to put in up in a ponytail or messy bun. My hair stylist will be viewing the screenshots for my haircut. My hair texture is very fine, but I have a ton of it. Your style is perfect for my type of hair. Thank you, lovely lady, for providing your subscribers with honest and informative content. I will be saving enough money buying the Revlon dryer to pay for my haircut. Enjoy the holidays.

Great review comparison! I tried the Revlon brush and it was too damaging for my hair. It caused a bit of hair breakage and I stopped using it and got the Dyson AirWrap, which is far more gentle on my hair. In my hair, I found that the bristles snagged my hair a lot and it got SUPER hot! I have my Revlon brush to my best friend and she loves it and her hair looks amazing!!!
