Most of my ancestors are from Ireland, County Cork and County Kerry. The earliest generation to be born in America were my grandparents. My great grandfather came as a child to visit America with his parents but my great, great grandfather died at sea so he and my great, great grandmother stayed in America with relatives and never went back to Ireland. I will be visiting Ireland soon, my lifelong dream.
I have walked barefoot in the waters of Ireland and Scotland , also Wales. My Celtic spirit loves all this.

My mom and her family came here to the U.S. when she was a child. I grew up hearing my Grandparents thick Irish brogue, and listening to the stories of where they came from which was Ennis, County Clare. I absolutely love my Irish background. I have always loved the Celtic music of Scotland and Ireland. I also have a great love for the landscapes of Scotland in particular the West Coast. This brings back memories of my last trip to Scotland in 2019 with my wife. We travelled up the West Coast staying at Plockton and Ullapool. It was our last holiday together as she passed away from this world in May 2021. This brings back all those memories.... and it brings the tears.

So sorry for you. I too have a sad loss, my son 2021. The family came over from Australia and we took his ashes to Isle of Mull, in September to scatter him to the winds there. Scotland is very beautiful indeed.

I am a descendant of Clan Baird. My family has roots in the Missouri, USA, Ozark region. This region was settled by people from the Appalachian mountians, which was settled by Scottish and Irish immigrants to the USA. The folk music of both regions is bluegrass, which has it origins in the music of Scotland. So I hear a lot of similarity in the music, and I really like the music of Scotland. I hope to get to see Scotland for myself some day.
