This song along with 6 more of Swarnavenkatesa Deekshitar Kritis has been immortalised by Sangeeta Kalanidhi late Palghat Shri K V Narayanaswamy in the 1990s. Ever since he started singing Swarnavenkatesa Deekshitar Kritis sometime in the late 80s, he had made it a point to include at least one of these songs in every concert of his. Sri Swarna Vaishnavi Trust has brought out two CDs containing 7 Swarnavenkatesa Deekshitar Kritis by Shri KVN - Immortal Songs in an Immortal Voice. Shri KVN brought in stalwarts from different music dtsciplines to accompany him - Dr N Ramani on the flute and Shri Karaikudi Subrananiam on the veena with Srivatsan and J Vaidyanathan on the violin and mrudangam, respectively.

Keeravani evokes pathos and brings tears to the listener. Such a powerful raga among all melakarta.
Keeravani is a mistic raga which makes our mind to relax both bodily and mentally. This Raga will set very well in Western classical also.

I learnt to them in Concert in San Diego (IFAASD), and am going to hear to them one more time. They resemble to me BV Raman and BV Lakshmanan and the BHAKTHI bhavam is blessed with them with their Father Sri. Mohan brought them very carefully. Excellent Nurture, Thanks to GURUVAYUR APPAN.

I felt really glad listening to this composition after several years. This composition was popularised by the legend Sri KV Narayanaswamy and remember listening to him rendering this with moving accompaniment of Sri Umyalpuram Sivaraman. Thanks for giving me a nostalgic moment in my life bros
I am amazed that brought up in a house where mum and dad were enthusiastic listeners of carnatic music I have never heard this song before. M.S. and Santhanam used to be favourite singers. Now I can't wait to listen to Trichur Brothers every day. They are vibrant and exhilarating to listen to. I just wished I lived in India to attend to their concerts in person. I have nave never enjoyed such a heavenly Keeravani in my Lifetime. Excellent rendition with musings of Trichur brothers, M.A. Sundaram as well. Hats off to all the accompanists ........Marvellous and tranquil Job indeed!
Heavenly! That was the only word i had written seven months back, because this song had me in a spell. As i recover from that hypnotic spell, i will still call this heavenly -- one of the most brilliantly rendered Kiravani -- and orchestration at its best! Brilliant Vocalist, Brilliant Violin and equally Brilliant Percussion support!

Wonderful keeravaani for sure...but I feel they have much to explore especially in aarohanam....Dr. Balamurali sir's keeravani was bench mark and brothers are the only musicians who can dream of touching those depths and sancharams

I have never bothered to comment on the 'dislike' on a video as people are free to like or dislike, However, the superb rendition of the lovely composition on Mahaperiyava along with the excellent violin and mridangam is a treat to the ears and soul and I am at a loss to understand the 'dislike'. Kudos to the brothers, Trichur Mohan and MAS!!

I felt the presence of MAHAPERIVA
Upon listening to this rendition, Keeravani raga sounds akin to rag Bhairavi (Or Bhairav) in North Indian music. Will someone knowledgeable confirm this or correct me?
+Gururaj BN As far as the notes go, I believe HIndustani Bhairavi mostly uses the (Hindustani) Komal Re, and Keeravani uses the Chatusruthi Ri (Shudda Re in Hindustani). I don't think it sounds like Bhairavi, because of the Ri. I am not familiar with Bhairav.
+vallathn - I am grateful for the reply. Any Bhairav is ruled out, as it is same as Mayamalava Goula in Carnatic Music. Thanks again.
