I love it! Funny story: I was I. HG's the other day and this lady in front of me online was purchasing this beautiful carved bowl. I told her she had a good find. And, we started talking and guess what? We both watch your videos. We both were going on and on about you and DIY with KB!
I think everybody has certain styles and techniques that gives them a certain amount of comfort. And the fact that we can watch this and laugh. Or grown. And then someone else says I'm not giving up my big brown ugly sofa. It's all good. I wish we could do that with people sometimes. You know the big fat ugly person in the corner that just doesn't make your life happy. Just turn them in for a better kinder person. Ha ha. But that's where my mind is tonight. So it's all kind of fun. You have to take The good with the not so good for yourself. I'm doing Swedish death cleaning right now which is an interesting style to get rid of stuff that I will never really need. But I've had some other people say how cute. So I'm going to gift it to them. What the heck. It's only rock 'n' roll. Or reggae. Or blues. Or whatever the hell you want. So you go gurl.. And we will go gurls and here we go gurls. Hee hee
Oh wow, I LOL'D at least 10 times during this video, and NOT because I disagree with you at all! You just have a gift with phrasing that makes everything fun and funny! ie: "you think you're designing, but you're just creating clutter!" That is a lesson that will stay with me! 🤭
Had a moment with a Arvin fan at my local Home Goods today. All over a Venezia Home throw pillows in gray. Rest assured the lady found her set. What a lovely moment to bond over home decor
Yep I am guilty of almost all of these mistakes at our current place 😂. We are moving next week and I am determined to make it a place I love. All of your videos have helped a lot!
I would LOVE if you could do a video on helping people fix their decor. For example, if you said “send me pictures of your fireplace mantel.” Then you chose a handful that represent common mistakes and tell us in a video how those people can make adjustments to be more balanced or stylish, based on actually people’s photos. Thanks for being so wonderful and informative!!
@@milletteregacho7158 everyone is different! If you get caught up "the right way wrong way" to do things your home can end up a mess!! Go with what makes you feel good in your home! Try to not have lots of items out at once as arvin says dont pack book cases! Do things in 3 or 5:) i love black & white with gold & chrome's! Hollywood regency to the max! A well designed home can be beautiful with bold colors! No decor is wrong but you have to do it right! I love arvin he is so cute!
This was my first time seeing someone present a more inviting take on glam. Really shows what curated pieces can do for a place while still emitting the same style. Love the channel!
I would love a “Favorite home decor stores and interior designers” video. We know and LOVE Home Goods ☺️ but I’d love to hear about your other favorites and why.
Nobody asked me.. But I have made every gosh darn decorating mistake you mentioned!! Thank God for learning something new everyday! Now back to the drawing board 😁
Thank You! I've been looking for the perfect set of affordable curtains to hang in front of my faux window wall in my finished basement. Your Ikea curtains look AMAZING!
Omg... I sooooo love you! I am a boring conservative 60 year old female engineer, and you have really awakened the style and creativity in me! You make so much sense and your designs are “the bomb”. (Can I say that?) lol. I actually took 2 hours at my Home Goods on Wednesday night looking at everything and saying “What would Arvin think about this?” (I know- should have gone on a Saturday morning- see? I listen!) Don’t know how I found you... but so glad I did!
My bedroom set MATCHES I bought it 30 years ago and I love it today as much as I did when I bought it REAL wood and it was not cheap! And I have red Persian rugs ( worth thousands and COLOR, not boring!) under it. Pottery that I made and other art works that are priceless and NOT anywhere else!!! Everyone is impressed! My house is COLOR not dull and bland...... I smile!!!
🙋🏻♀️ I’m guilty of the “pretending to decorate, but really it’s just clutter”! I’m extremely sentimental, so I can’t get rid of special items that hold memories! But I’ve recently found within me the strength to store them in a bin in the attic instead of on my book shelf! It has made a huge difference in my home!
This is genius! I always struggle to vision pieces in the actual space and resort to similar tones just to be safe. It’s comforting to know that mix and match (hues, textures, etc) is no longer frowned upon. I would love to see a video elaborating on furniture pieces that compliment each other and look cohesive over all. May be pick one statement piece for a space and explain your thought process in completing the space from start to finish? Lots of love!♥️
You're so right about the curtain length. I also like it though when it pools just a bit on the floor. With the right interior that can look luxe. Love your videos! Keep it up! You're fabulous!
love your ideas, disagree with 1 thing, I think you call definitely pull off deep rich colors if done right! I agree though people sometimes over do it
I totally get it about matchy matchy, this is why Rooms to Go is so successful. I have always thought that if you subscribe to that concept your taste is in your mouth. I enjoy the hunt of putting a space together because if you have good taste you can shop anywhere . You are the best at what you do, thanks for being here.
This channel gives you the two-in- one advise. The obvious one is interiors and the bonus is fashion. I live his clothes, jewellery and that lip colour is gorgeous!
Just started watching your channel. My husband was in the room and said, "wow, this guy is good!" We just bought a new house, and I'm learning so much from you! Could you do a video on your curtains? Can't wait to see you next video.
Many many oops moments in my house that you pointed out. So yes, I am guilty. But, were moving soon to our bigger new home and were so excited. We're also replacing all the carpet and I am stumped of what color to go with. I love your suggestions and I have been minimally shopping and picking up pieces since whatever I purchase I have to move! Thank you once again Arvin! You are magic and I love your ideas and presentation!
My biggest issue with my decor, is that I was in a cute lil vintage condo for almost a decade and everything I bought fit it flawlessly! But when I finally got my first “big girl house” a few years ago-almost everything I collected over the years is too shrimpy to properly fit the spaces in each room (like my rugs, coffee tables, couch, chairs, curtains, etc). 🤨 So I really appreciate your kind of content, because it helps me understand why my house still doesn’t quite feel like a warm and cozy HOME yet (like my condo did). So thank you for making these videos about home/room designs and alternative suggestions! Maybe I’ll be brave enough to submit my living room (the room I’m struggling with the MOST) to be roasted soon. 😁❤️
OMG. I think I've made all those mistakes. Another one I made was not knowing my style. Once I figured it out I could focus on buying only things that work with my style and leaving the rest at the store. I am loving your style and how much you are embracing it. It helps to have a partner who is willing to go with the flow. My husband is the same way!
Oh, Arvin!! I love your videos, but am so glad you can't see my home! I am vegan, so no wool rugs for me! And, I have four senior rescue dogs, so, I use indoor/outdoor rugs!!! Gads!! Lol!! But, loving my Floyd couch and raw wood coffee table, uncluttered shelves, and modern lighting. Everything is an apology for said rugs!!!??
How about when people hang their artwork too high, or they hang just one undersized, lonely picture on a wall just floating in space? Those are my pet peeves. Thank you for those suggestions! Love the video.
I'm tall enough that I definitely do this, but it's at the right height for me to enjoy it, so y'all can either deal with it or only visit short people homes.
Loveee your simple, elegant, affordable home decor tips... I would like to see you do actual interactive room re decor to any of your followers homes ❤️❤️
Well after I completed decoration education with Arvin I will be returning some curtains and two runners. Love the visual examples and I truly appreciate this video.Thanks...when I return and they ask me why I am going to say “ Arvin made me do it” I took up three pillows today but only got one because I watch your pillow buying video first, still trying to finish videos but I am learning.
Arvin, just watched this video and its just divine! Your talent is just pouring out so effortlessly. This kind of Teaching tutorial I think is a TOTAL WINNER and I think you should do this type of video regularly. You come across as quite the expert! I am watching your channel grow just in the few months I've been following. You must be thrilled! Just LOVE you and your channel. Wish you the biggest success! Elle
This was one of the most helpful explanations of the best way to decorate I've come across. I wish I could just see the world like that, but alas, I'm gonna have to learn from others and practice
Lol I am so guilty of the gray decor 😅 LOL know you have me going from room to room 🤣 looking to see what mistakes I have done that's why I love your videos your so inspiring can't wait for the next one love ya....🥰💕
If only I had asked!!!!!! I have been changing so much in my home since finding your channel. Thank you so much for breaking it down. Much appreciated. Blessings always 😍
With 822 comments so far, I'm pretty sure you won't get to this! All the same, thank you so much for your channel. Love it! I live in an almost impossibly tiny place and I'm proud to say I have good design instincts as reinforced by you. I'm forced to be a sally ann boho woman, and so my love of color and dimension saves me. I can't afford any space for the usual "decorative" space fillers like vases full of weird wicker balls or dried flowers. Ugh. I feel like every area of my place is like an alter. Each stone, painting or tchachka has meaning. With the lack of space my main challenge is creating a sense of said space! I'm pretty damn good at this. Your main advice that piqued my interest is your "rule of three". Thank you! Love you!
I would love any advice on how you get rid of some out dated decor and furniture. I know you switch up all the time and was curious on what you do with items that are not with your style anymore. Do you always reuse them? Offer up? Toss them? Love your vids!!
Omggg I agree with all of these 😉 I feel like I’ve watched enough HGTV and decor and design UA-cam videos that these are common sense but I’m SHOOK that so many people don’t know these tips and tricks. I love that you put this together, I’m sure it helps so many. I personally love all your content 💗💗
You are so right ! I like to decor with vintage furnitures mixed w modern. I like to feel like im home and not in the hospital. I also like to bring in some out door theme..dried florals and branches flowers trees. I hang my curtains way way high to give it demension.
Arvin, you are the absolute best. I hope you do a video on how to style with pets. We've got two large black shepherds, and nothing is sacred. They don't get on the furniture, but I'm pretty sure their fur makes up 20% of the air in our house. I'd love to hear your thoughts on creating/maintaining a luxurious space that can survive two major fluffies.
Where have you been? I am a mid Century modern lover, but the gray and farmhouse Decour hit the market it’s everywhere and I absolutely hate it. You have shown me that I can still have my warm tones my beautiful rich browns and blacks and bring it up to date. I just wish I could take a video of what I call mid century modern in my home send it to you so you could critique me.I would love to go shopping with you! My husband came into the room when I found you yesterday and now when I look up your channel he sits down and watch and he says man he’s got excellent taste!
Very informative and yet entertaining. Loved you showed examples! Side bar: The shirt you are wearing is gorgeous! I can tell it's expensive, from seeing the material and the construction of the shirt. You look fab-u-lous in the cream, silky garment!!😍
Mom and I just bought a rug that's way too small, we grossly underestimated the size of our living room and the size of the couch we got too (which is too big). We also happen to be moving into a bigger place in a week 🙂. So you know that's great.
Amazing tips - I truly admire your refined taste in home decor! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. May I ask for lighting advice in a future presentation? I think lighting can be critical to achieving the right mood in a space. You probably have many topics to cover, so I hope it is ok to “ask” for this one:) Again, many thanks for sharing your talent!
Yes i agree, i love the "instead" ideas. And the visual of what NOT to do! Im guilty of trying to match everything! Watching your videos has helped me alot! I also like when your going thru HG you give ideas. Thanks for another great educational video. Keep them coming baby! 💜
The curtain tip is a great one I use to do that too! Wayfair has some nice neutral and jute rugs for a budget. But honey that last one about clutter, I've been to soooo many beautiful homes where they could have removed half of that and looked amazing! Over decorating is real knowing when to stop just like an outfit is key!
I enjoy mixing and matching my furniture. Since we live in a log cabin, I stay away from modern pieces, just does not feel or look right to me. I like the warmth and character of wood. Not a huge dry floral person either, it's up there with faux plants. I am always moving my furniture around as well. Something else I avoid, area rugs over hardwood floors. We need to expose the beauty of the wood and the rug mask it. Instead, I prefer a bigger coffee table to tie the furniture together. I group my pieces in odd numbers with difference in height, love it! I enjoy your advice, thank you!
@@ArvinOlano Why do you pronounce curtains like that? The automatic captions keep thinking you're saying "croutons" loooool please reply in a new video some day I NEED to know.
Love your videos, thank you! If by chance you are ever interested in a home decor topic... I’d LOVE if you could do something on decorating & styling a teenage girl’s bedroom (around the 16-17 years old). I know teens like their room to include elements that represent their style, who they are, etc. But being clueless more often than not, it’s quite the challenge for “mom” to advise teen daughter on having a classy, trendy & personalized bedroom. I’m currently (and have been) in that situation where I’m trying to explain having core, classy, neutral foundation items, balancing the look f the room, adding one’s own style without compromising the core elements and the balance & luxurious look those somewhat timeless items provide in the room. For example, placement of bed, large rug in room to warm it up, keeping clutter off all surfaces, neutral colors that will work with any accent items, simple yet soft & easy to maintain bedding, how to display 1 trillion pics in a visually appealing manner, souvenirs/mementos can be stored in memory box, not all over, etc. Maybe my ideas above are not correct, but with virtual school being the norm at this point, I find the room so busy, off balance, oversized items (think of a queen size bed filled with pillows, a few gifted plush toys, an iron cast canopy bed frame, & famous oversized Egg Chair from Target which is more like a patio or indoor day room type chair), I can go on. The room has lots of potential and it’s actually a beautiful room that’s hiding underneath all the stuff. Anyways, if you ever want to explore this topic, I’d be thrilled. If not, no worries, it’s not easy & perhaps a rite of passage they all go through before getting it. THANK YOU ANYWAYS, LOVE YOUR STYLE, DECOR, OUTFITS, EVERYTHING!
I am so loving the White Dried Baby breath, Bleached real dried gypsophila, Dried baby breath bunch from your dried floral link. And, the Marble Face Decorative Object from the home decor link
Thank you for sharing your decorating knowledge..my husband and I are building our 2nd custom home..and I'm very excited I absolutely love thinking outside of the box and going to many different places for unique finds! We love our home to be our sanctuary, I love a clean, cozy timeless home...
The first 3 minutes of this video were directed at me 😂😂 all of my bedroom furniture is white, and it looks very flat and cold. I am trying to bring more warmth and depth. I came across your channel and I’m obsessed!!!!! Thank you ❤
I learned so much from this video tonight! Thank you so much. I also seriously laughed out loud when you talked about "ugly rugs." I bought two when I purchased my house a year ago. They are not large patterned rugs but they're hideous in that they are made of polypropylene i.e. plastic and can't be vacuumed!! Horrible!! I'm getting rid of them tomorrow! Seriously.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was very helpful and I have definitely made a few of those mistakes! I love the way you explained what could be done better. It was so helpful and empowering. Often times with home decorating, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and confused. Your approach is super accessible, fun and informative. Thank you!
Hi Arvin I love your channel. I’m so glad you share your tips with the world. Was wondering if you would do a video just on area rugs to explain the different techniques, materials, care, brands and where to shop for that perfect vintage distressed rug that will last forever. I definitely have learned so much from you.
I do not normally comment. I dont know where the hell you came from or who the hell you. BUT YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME. Informative! Entertaining! Engaging! I am binge watching your videos. I am binge watching YOU.
You are so right about the grey. I painted my room a whiteish grey, and when I made my bed with dark/ light grey Casaluna linens, it looked very cold and wrong. When I switched to cream for the bedding everything started working together. And I love my grey walls

OMG, Totally agree about the grays theme (and I love gray)....but there’s a UA-camr that does gray/mirror everything and I’m like....enough!
"Nobody asked", but I am 🙈Guilty of some of the point you made. Very informative content. Thank you for sharing. Nice video👌
Ahhh so true tho. And wow ty for this sweet comment
Susan Mulvey woman’s shirt as the buttons are on the left. I loved it too and looked carefully.
I think I have that blouse, lol. It’s from J.Crew.
You probably have many topics to cover, so I hope it is ok to “ask” for this one:)
Again, many thanks for sharing your talent!
Yes i agree, i love the "instead" ideas. And the visual of what NOT to do! Im guilty of trying to match everything! Watching your videos has helped me alot! I also like when your going thru HG you give ideas. Thanks for another great educational video. Keep them coming baby! 💜
I appreciate your candor. Admitting having made mistakes is reassuring.
I’m beginning to adore you. Please do a video about styling a bookcase ✨
Love love love you!! From your neighbor in Cali!! You are stunning darling!! Keep up your good work. I will eagerly await every video!! 😘❤️
I'm currently renovating a house I just bought (goals!) And I'm so glad I found your channel before getting started!😊
I only can say “ I love you” 😘 God bless you. You’re definitely help me a lot.
The thumbnail is literally what I have in my head when I’m at HG. Arvin telling me yassss girl or no you betta nottttt! 😂

@@ArvinOlano Why do you pronounce curtains like that? The automatic captions keep thinking you're saying "croutons" loooool please reply in a new video some day I NEED to know.
@@nyatella it's a southern thing.
He is really teaching me,love it!
Arvin just needs to come decorate my home! Period!
AHHHH, my favorite topics: hanging curtains all wrong and area rugs that are the wrong size!!! Enjoyed the WHOLE video!
Yay !!!!
Japanese Gardeners and Bosai enthusiast also use the rule of odd numbers, and creating triangle shapes to mimic nature.
Great content and advice
❤️ I learn something every time I watch you !👍🏽
I am so loving the White Dried Baby breath, Bleached real dried gypsophila, Dried baby breath bunch from your dried floral link.
Ahhhh yay !!! Love this
I'll admit I'm guilty of Grey's but I love your good tips on making our homes feel alot more luxurious ❤️
I love your smile during the whole video, thanks for sharing those good ideas
The first 3 minutes of this video were directed at me 😂😂 all of my bedroom furniture is white, and it looks very flat and cold. I am trying to bring more warmth and depth. I came across your channel and I’m obsessed!!!!! Thank you ❤
I live for your enthusiasm and design expertise ❤
I’m guilty of making several of those decorating mistakes too! But I’ve learned & wont do it again. I enjoy interior design a lot.
Once again your right on point. I would love for you to talk about mid century modern furniture and decor.
So many rules it's overwhelming. Ultimately home decor shd b enjoyable. Love your laugh sounds
I love you! You have so many good ideas. You are really helping me in my decorating experience. ❤️
You did a great job of giving solid very useful tips that any person can apply to their home at their own particular price point. Well done.
I got new house and try to make it stylish, but cozy like you said:) love your style♥️
I just love you, Arvin! You’re adorable! 😘💕💓
Awww ty
I love that you offer options. One cannot have too many options
Obsessed with your channel. I am redoing our decor and am so lucky to have come across your channel before making any purchases!
Arvin, you are such an upper to watch! Very helpful video today as I re-examine my own decor layouts. Bravo! 👏👏👏
Amazing
I am binge watching YOU.
wow TY SO MUCH THIS MEANS A LOT
You are so right about the grey. I painted my room a whiteish grey, and when I made my bed with dark/ light grey Casaluna linens, it looked very cold and wrong. When I switched to cream for the bedding everything started working together. And I love my grey walls
Your channel is my new obsession :). Love your personality and the practical tips you give. Way to go Arvin! :) Your channel is 'bout to blow up big time! :)
