That's me on bass. I know my own bass lines. This is from the six song demo we recorded at Randy's Magnum Opus rehearsal studio. If you listen carefully, you'll hear walking bass line influences of Muscle of Love and Love Gun. Blackie kept saying 'play simpler, play simpler.' I said 'it's only 3 chords, how much simpler do you want it?"

what is more interesting is that Randy's vocal style is very similar to Blackie's. i guess that's why their harmonies sounded so great. also, that moving bluesy bass is awesome
Yes, interesting version, it's very pity, that Randy not everything worked out... His 1988 3-song demo (Animal band) is simply masterpiece for W.A.S.P. fans..

They had voice synergy. When Randy left the band, WASP lost melodic vocal part.

Randy can really sing. he was great as back up to Blackie and he does this just as good as him. I have seen Randy Pipers Band live and his voice is very close to Blackies and when he plays the W.A.S.P. song he played on he does a great lead.
Yes, Randy is guy with big potential and in late 80s was chance to release wonderful album, but alas and ah.. Only masterpiece 3-song demo...
How cool would it be if Randy Piper and Chris Holmes regroup the original guitar dual attack of wasp recruit Tony Richards back on drums and no other than Johnny Rod himself on bass. That would be an interesting metal experimentation. Pipers inside the Homes of the Widowmaker!

I actually think they tried a few years ago and called it Where Angels Suffer
tbf Tony Richards and Chris Holmes have been in Randy's band, Animal. Don't think it was the same time. Chris and Randy also had a band called Where Angels Suffer, that released the album Purgatory.... but that's just tracks from previous Animal releases

Never heard this before Randy can sing ok . I've seen a video of blackie and Randy playing accustic guitar together and singing . I think it was in 1979 maybe around circus circus. Thanks for sharing 🤘

@@tonemarieantonsen1597 Good question... He decided to be guitarist in his own band and take 'Rich Lewis' on vocal, which sounded almost like Blackie on this demo! For me, this is the most similar vocals to Blackie, that I've ever heard from everyone, but only this demos. I grew up with W.A.S.P. because I'm a child of the 80's but hearing Randy Piper's voice for the first time... Just Awesome!

WOW. This is an awesome version. If there was no mentioned this was Randy I would have assumed it was Blackie trying out alternate vocals. I presume Blackie was lead guitar here.
Randy can sing! Blackie should have let him sing lead on this track on the studio version.

It's a beginning of the band, the sound is rustic but energic and Randy is also a good singer.

Randy could easy sing lead 👍 blackies biggest mistake was to let Randy go(so he could play guitar himself)...The awsom twin guitars of Piper/Holmes.... and the harmonies..I do really hope he(blackie) understand,what a HUGE FUCKIN' mistake he made. (I think he does). With "The last command lineup" i'vd easy travel from Norway 🇳🇴 to the states for a concert. Last time blackie & co were here i didn't bother travel 4 miles to hear'em. I stick to the two first albums & Live at the lyceum London ,and live of the GOOOOD memories, of a the best band in the world at the time🤘🤘

Randy sounds like Blackie and Dee Snider had a baby trained to sing by Gene Simmons.
This was when they wanted to do something like KISS did, were all band members were singing some songs. Would have worked i think.
The solo sounds infinitely better on the demo. Is that Randy on guitar? Chris hadn't joined yet right?
What ever was the last straw rod randy leaving wasp! Blackie made a big mistake in letting it get to that point where randy left! I can just image the music they could of made going on into the future!!!! Space ace Ron⚡️⚡️⚡️
He said in the interview on Eddie trunk That after the Last Command Tour he was flat broke and in debt. And i guess he didn't get along great with blackie either so Blackei bought him out of the band when offered, and so Blackie could go back on Guitar
Wasn't Don Costa in the band during this time or was he already with Ozzy?
I love to hear anything from this period, the debut lineup made an album that has a special place with me, for me it is all killer and no filler.....I never get sick of this stuff

Hold on....isn't this a version of The Runaways' 'School Days' released in 1976? Same title with spelling modification, with 'School Days' been called out in the chorus even.
Nope. Song is credited to Blackie Lawless.
They dont even sound similar.
Offcourse BLACKIE better but...I guess its so nice.
