Great video. Not sure how I stumbled across the first one, but I've seen every one since. Cant wait to see that baby in the water.... Next channel, djembe and guitar lessons!
Thanks man! i also can't wait to see it in the water! hopefully this month 😬, i may not have what it takes to teach music lessons 😆 im also still learning as i go. maybe one day tho!
In all fairness, not once have I ever gotten to the end of a video and said they didn't have a good outro now I just wasted the last 15 minutes. Your content is great and that is what is most important. I am going to be doing probably something quite similar to a 1990 Tri hull with a 90 horse Mercury engine on it so thank you for the inspiration
Keep ‘em coming! Nice job on the transom glass! I was told any gelcoat cracking needs to be sanded down and refilled with gelcoat for proper protection. Paint will definitely do a good job of protecting it but because I enjoy pain, I used gelcoat on my last project for those lines & it a canoe it’s really obvious that the little cracks expand with pressure
Thanks Robbie, i'm afraid of the cracks expanding as well. I did use a good thick layer of high build primer that seemed to fill in everything. now i guess i will see what happens in a year or so. this might be a good lesson i will learn. maybe on a future project i will try spraying on gelcoat. how did you end up applying your gelcoat on the canoe?
@@Project2Potential rolled it on & then used a paint brush tip to minimize the lines. I bought a specific HVLP spray gun to gelcoat spray my boat but I had compressor issues and ended up doing the ‘roll & tip’. On the next gelcoat job I’ll repeat roll & tip but try gelcoat from a gun on a small piece in the fall when it has a longer working time
That's a good point, i actually bought a gallon of high build primer that i sprayed on, i laid it down thick. i guess i will see what happens. but rolling does sound like it would do a good job of filling in those cracks... good thought. 😎
How well does the bondo area going? I need to fix some uneven area on my boat and wondered if I can just use bondo instead of the total boat fairing compound $$$$. Maybe I should use the fume cilica as my fairing putty 🤔
Awesome sauce. Thank you for the replies. BTW, whenever you want to upgrade that that windshield, I'll buy that one off ya. Washigton state near Seattle 😆
I tried filling mine with epoxy and used high build primer. The cracks came back after about a year. The boat guy says you have to grind them down to the fiberglass and fill them and thats the only way
@@Project2Potential I rolled and tipped using brushing thinner. 1st and second coat were great. 3rd coat I developed orange peel. Dont know why. Maybe not mixed as well as the bottom of the can. I may get some more and try spraying it on.

Still great video loving the progress excellent work can’t wait for the next update thank you
Thanks Tim, I appreciate that! 🙂
Do it like Rob Dahm. No outro. Just BOOM 💥 VIDEOS OVER! :)
Great content man. 👍👍👍 Binged the previous 18 videos HARD!!! :)
HAHA, not a bad idea. i saw some of his videos it seems to work with a sudden ending!
thanks for the comment and glad your enjoying the series 🙂

your welcome! i hope your boat wasn't as bad as mine. for a 1990 what's the first thing you need to do?
@@Project2Potential haven't even gotten I to it yet. But I have a strong feeling there will be some rot.
Lots of floor fiberglass work for sure.

i was also thinking about rolling it on. seems easier? maybe not tho
You can get a high fill primer that can be rolled on that might do an better job at filling .

Automotive bondo actually worked really well for me. It's holding up great so far.

oh shoot! what kind of paint did you end up using? i guess i will see what happens with mine as i have the primer and paint down already 😬

@@L2fish ok, I bought totalboat wet edge topside paint.

The cracks will show through if you don't get rid of them.
thats a bummer! 😞
