If you can live in one for 12 years, and prove it, you should be able to keep it. Unless the law's changed, there is a sort of "finders keepers" law which allows people to take over abandoned properties.
Squatters law I believe.
And damn near all the ones I've seen that are over there are completely full furnished and hasn't been touched in decades..
it's absolutely crazy to think of all those valuables worth thousands just sitting deteriorating. 😢

The architecture of these buildings is impressive
I met his brother Roberto in Medellin. Also I live in Colombia as well. He used to have a helicopter just to pick up kids and fly over the pool so they could jump from it then go back and forth over and over haha.

Escobar was incredibly smart. He thought ahead well. For example he had escape passages built into everyplace he spent time at like the prison. He had it lead to a helipad on the other side of the mountain.

Was listed to a family trust. The Trustee was unable to keep up with the taxes etc and was seized by the state and in the process of auctioning it was found to have serious structural issues. In Virginia the buyer would be responsible for the back taxes ( or portion of) plus need to bulldoze the house and rebuild so nobody in their right mind wants it.
The rumor mill about that place over the years has been endless.

Destroying such beautiful houses is a real shame. They could be used for a tourist route. The ticket money could be used to compensate the families of the victims. Destroying is never a good solution

Did you guys know that Escobar's hippos are still in Colombia and have bred many descendants that have escaped into the wild there? From what I understand, the hippos have gone totally feral and are thriving there. They tear up the countryside and kill people there every year.

Time to play the “If I Had ♾ Money Game” I’d save enough to pay for college for all my career ambitions so I don’t have to choose between the three then get a home to live in then a car (something with good protection until I learn how to drive properly) then I’d get all these houses and clean them up and make cheap hotels from them.
