Interesting projects, although I fear that the graphical style of Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a little too different from Sonic 1, unless all the graphical assets of the latter are redesigned to be more detailed and less jarring with the former's sprites and tiles.
We're aware and would love to address that, though I feel it's a bit out of scope -- the goal here is to provide an open source framework for Sonic hacks with the most polish and the best code quality possible above all, so we're spending the most amount of time there instead. :) ...and on our original projects as well, of course.
