She told us she was going on the show, and when she came back she told us she couldn’t say anything until the episode aired! Ugh! She kept it secret for months! lol. When the show aired we couldn’t believe she won and managed to keep it under wraps! She’s an amazing woman and now she’s enjoying her retirement.

She did a far better job of keeping her composure than I would have done when the answers were revealed and she clearly knew she was about to hit paydirt. She knew she was waiting for Dentist as soon as the question was revealed - her excitement was palpable....love it!
She is. She's also still a big WWTBAM fan, she went out of her way to announce the death of Bob-o to WWTBAM fans and she talked about being at Ed Toutant's last big dinner with his friends and family before he passed from brain cancer. She and other WWTBAM winners became friends. He license plate is FNL ANSR and she took her time still working as a teacher before she retired.
At first I thought the high squealed screams were coming from the winner, but if you watch closely, they were coming from Merideth! LOL! She was really excited for her!
I really liked watching her whole run. She's had a rich and varied life, and the questions that came up fit hand in hand with everything she learned from those experiences. It's kind of like Slumdog come to life.
She seems like such a sweet person! That was the best thing ever watching her reaction to winning! When I was in second grade in my art class we learned about grant wood and about how his sister and dentist were in the picture. If only I got that question XD
Not counting the 'Tournament of Ten' winner in the Fall of 2009, it has been almost nine years since her bona fide million-dollar win. I auditioned for (Season 10) of Millionaire, on 7/13/2011 (in Charlotte), passed the test, and am waiting to see if I'm selected for their contestant pool. Ogi Ogas almost did it. Lyn Payne almost did it. After trying to get on this show for 12 years, I would love to 'run the table' for a million.
This is great! Normally I feel all glad for those that win the big prizes on shows like these...but this one, I just laugh. I think it's great that she worked that hard and finally got to a question that she just flat out knew.

It's one thing to not know the answer. It's one thing to take a lucky guess. It's another thing to make a wild wrong guess. This was about knowing the answer 110%. She had experience with the question and couldn't help but go for it. What a lovely personality and an epic win.

Back when million dollar questions were answerable! Josina Reeves' and Chip Esten's questions were way too tough. It took us until 2020 to get another legit millionaire on the show (no disrespect to Sam Murray).
Were the ratings good at this time for syndicated Millionaire? I know they were in the drain by the end of Harrison's hosting but during this early syndicated era, did it go toe to toe with Jeopardy at all?

The syndicated version had hundreds and hundreds of contestants. You need to factor in all the times there's no coincidences (this is just good advice in general. People don't naturally factor in how many times on a normal unsurprising day the odds against a coincidence "win" out.)
