- Digging deep into the archives this week and a bit of a different video. We take a look at our old 3085 that was on the farm from 2007 - 2015. Looking at why it came, what it did and most importantly why it had to go.!!
Good honest video. I'm in a similar suitation myself. Bought a tractor and have spent more on it than it's worth just to keep it going. Totally fed up with it now.
Thanks 👍 Its hard to know where the line is with these old classics.
Love the history. It’s great to how other farmers and families made decisions and to get the full picture.
Thanks John 👍
Really interesting video on the trials and tribulations of the 3085 👍 never drove one but had a go on a 3070 for a few days and it was a good performer 💪
Thanks Bob, I liked the 3085 but do love the old 3075, great bus.😎
Good video it reminded me of the one and only John Deere we had a 3050 completely gutless awkward brute it broke down regularly and the parts were more expensive than the ford or Massey's thankfully it's long gone
Thanks Paul, I think every brand has a weakness or a poor unit at some stage in production, I guess the 3050 was it for JD. Saying that I like the shape of the 3050, but staying with the reds for now.😎
Good man
Cheers Gerry👍
Noce bit of history there Cathal. Was great to see the pictures along with hearing the stories. You're obviously into videoing for a long time.
Thanks Eamon, I used to photograph and video action on the farm just for recording what was going on, before the days of UA-cam.
Great history video Cathal. Some machines just go like that. Fair play to you for getting a video out while you are away, it's more than I managed 😂
Thanks Alan, but you are on you holidays, so you have a good excuse.
interesting thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Bob👍
we have a 3095 datatronic with 2500 hours, never had a problem with it.
best tractor i have ever driven
3000 Series great machines in my book Marius, I have a 3075 and love it. Not really sure what the issue with our 3085 was. We got it checked out and there was no issues recorded by the dealer. Alot of people commenting, like you that their 3085 or 95 was a good pulling machine.🤷♂️
@@FlyingFergyMan My old boy worked to a contractor for years and they bought a Ford 8210 series 3 and had nothing but problems with oil leaks, his boss sold it on after getting annoyed the next boy hadnt a single problem with it and got a great tractor at the finish haha, Always find you can get a good tractor or a bad one of the same model, 2 8240 newhollands and the white roof had a better lift than the blue roof strange how they all have there wee niggles
@@zzirSnipzz1yes they all have their little quirks. 3085 was a good old bus, just a bit dead and clumsy.
Enjoyed the video
thanks Emmet.
Good video Cathal you got a great replacment with the 6290 great tractor
Thanks Philip, I am a big 3000 series fan but the 6290 is a great tractor and does our job very well. 😎
Another great video
Great bit off information when she came and the ups and downs off her.
You do tend to get a feeling about these things. And especially when you’re da starts to take a dislike to a piece off machinery, not slow the older generation.
Pity though because you had her looking fantastic.
Keep them coming
Love watching them, real time videos and the truth all the way through.
👍👍
Thanks Philip. It was a pity she had to go, especially after putting the work into it. 🙄.
Looking a bit warm there for u 😂👍
38 Deg today.
Good vid today. She was a good looking Massey
Thanks Barry, yes took a bit of effort but a real clean tractor before it was sold.
Good video Cathal. Neighbour had 3085 back I no the day and had a 3075. Said the 3075 had far more grunt. That’s the way they were just a bit dead but u had the dynashift to flick down the gears.
Thanks Carlos. before we bought it the mechanic said that, "its a bot dead but you have the 34 gears of the dynashift". It done our job to be honest.
Nice video Cathal, there is always one that don't work out
Thanks Gearoid, yes I dont know why the 3085 was the way it was, as a number of people have commented that theirs is more than capable. As you say some things just dont work out.
We had a new 3080 datatronic but had endless problems with electrics shame apart from that it was a good tractor
Tin rot and electrics were defo an issue. For us our 3085 never gave any electrical issues.👍
Replaced by a ford tw35 nightmare to drive crash box Iam a Massey man I may be biased!😂😂
A friend of mine has a 3085 and it pulls like a train. It's a dynashift, pulls a 14 tonne kane easily.
Thanks Frank, ours was dynashift also, done the job but just seemed a bit dead.🤷♂️
A wee touch fairly brings them to life.
Currently slowly restoring a 3125 in kildare
Painted the bonet and panels black im not so sure now maybe i should put it back red
I admire your bravery in going black over red, I thought about it with my 1200 and chickened out. I think that will look fantastic black and silver and something different.
@@FlyingFergyMan thanks 👍 I just think they look bigger in red for some reason
The 3125 is same size as 3600 series 3 step etc
Used to drive a 3070 years ago
Good machine or Bad?
@@FlyingFergyMan was ok , besides the usual electrical issues etc 🤦♂️😂
We had a 3095. It was a bit dead as well but reliability let it down. Left with nearly 10,000 hours on it but it was like triggers broom. Most parts had been replaced on it! Changed it for a JD6610 and never looked back!
Thanks Roger I was beginning to think it was just me that thought the 3085 was dead. Once we got he brakes, handbrake and pump issues sorted ours gave no bother in fairness.
You would wonder why a 3085 is so dull a 3095 was always a good pulling tractor
I think it was just ours, as allot of feedback is that they were a good pulling old bus.
Something badly wrong if the 590 could pass you. But the brakes failing on the tractor going down hill wouldn’t have been the tractor’s fault no brakes on the trailer will have over heated the tractor brakes that’s why they failed. We have a 3085 Dynashift never had a days problem with it only thing that let’s it down like all 3000 series tractors is the cab and doors ours needs a little attention on one door.
Ours went the same with the cab and doors, they all like that as u say. In fairness to the 590, it does have a fantastic engine in it, but u right it should not be able to out run the 3085.🤷♂️
🇮🇪🇮🇪👏👏👍👍🙏🙏
Thanks Greg.
I love all 3000 series 😊, shame about your 3085 ☹️, can't say or think of a good thing about the Bambi especially their outrageous prices for parts and labour, if I was forced to say a good thing about it, it would be the brown interior the amount of time's it nearly couped over, especially what just about came out of my @ss, it didn't hide the smel unfortunately,🙄 anger management phone no' would be an improvement for it !!, however I'm looking forward to harvest season, especially driving a 5S??? Massey, 😊, and he's got a Massey 3095 since new, yaaaaaa beauty !!!!! 🤩👍 however he won't sell it, but maybe a few bottles of whisky and get him to write 3095 sold to Mr C Anderson, might work ??,. 🤔🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃👍 thank you for the video.🙂👍
Big fan of the 3000 series myself Calum and good luck trying to get that 3095, never know your luck. 😎
I wonder how next owner of the 3085 got on? What’s the box on the wall behind you next to the double socket?
Tv, Sat and R (whatever that is) I would also like to know how they got on with it.👍
