If you feel the batter is not as light as the urad dal batter, add 1/2 Tsp Eno. Actually, it depends on the weather, and how well the batter is fermented, It should be light and airy. It's better you add a little eno for a softer idli :)
Best is use wet grinder which helps in making the batter light and fluffy . Wet grinder is a must to make idli , dosa , vada batter . In all South Indian homes you find wet grinder which makes batter making a great convenience. We also have in the market wet grinder with timer which is useful for people multitasking .
