I think Ben and Brooke played the 1st mixed team because to have a chance at making playoffs, Carolina need to give themselves the best chance at winning 3 points in all their remaining matches even if a different strategy would give them a better chance at winning the match in a dreambreaker. They can’t really afford to play it safe at this point of the season.
48:18 I know Ben Johns is the best player in the world, I know he's trying to take over the match, and I know DC has been targeting Buckner's dinking all game, but I don't think you should ever take a dink this far into your partner's half of the court. It has nothing to do with "fairness" or whatever, it's just a bad play. He's putting himself and his partner out of position just so he can hit an off-balance dink that at best is a weak reset and at worst sets up an instant winner for James to aim into the mile of open court he's leaving. It doesn't matter what strategy either team is going for, this is not the play.
@ I don’t think Ben is the issue. I do believe the team lacks motivation & chemistry based on how they interact with each other. Ben looks unhappy…hopefully, next year will be a better year? 🤷🏻♀️
I mean not really. Ben is number 1 in mixed and James is 3. So the margin is small. Additionally James is playing with Rachel who is top 10 in mixed and Brooke isn’t even top 20. So you really can’t compare the two.
@@robaina1 true but Ben is really freaking good at mixed, shown by his dominance with ALW and even proving he can still win with any other partner (Etta 2x) and James haven’t been doing so good, (personally think he’s carried by Anna), last ppa he lost in the quarters, and I don’t even remember the last time he was in a final other than in Utah where not many pros competed. Then again he had an injury and breakup so. Just think Ben’s performance was just bad to a game he probably should’ve won
@@andretakada6631 Yea you’re right about James. Ben is also the type of player to not expend unnecessary energy. He could have just conceded this match in his before it was over, I also just think MLP format doesn’t favor how the John’s brothers like to play.
I wish Rohrbacher would tone it down a bit!! Her voice is giving me a headache!!! 😣
i don't mind it. Dekel, Ignatowich, & Glozman aren't high energy ppl. DC needs somebody to bring the energy
Oh My Gosh!! Noise pollution! Can’t enjoy watching the game without cringing
Agreed. It's so shrill and piercing. Over the top.
What fabulous, informative commentators. Cheers you two

Babe wake up! new ben johns mlp meltdown just dropped!
Ben needs new playmates. I feel bad for him!
They've replaced every player except his brother by now. At some point you have to look at who is the common denominator...

so Carolina mathematically out right?
Yes they have 0 chance of being in the MLP Playoffs
I wish CJ would just bend his knees.
Ben losing to James is honestly kinda embarrassing

Ben doesn't care about MLP
Brooke is a singles player, her doubles game is not quite there, yet.
