Let's just be real here... A24 was gonna probably do waaaaayy too much with this... Friday the 13th is NOT "Elevated Horror" . I like some A24 movies, but overall i feel they try to get way too artsy, and F13 isn't a series that needs that..

I don't even consider myself a writer, but Christ, I could write a story about a guy in a mask killing campers for a whole lot less than $100,000. No wonder everything in Hollywood ends up in development hell...it's like they go out of their way to make things way too hard.

I know they don't have the rights to the Remake but I would do what the MCU is doing with Netflix Daredevil
I would start it in a similar place Jason died in the Remake then bring him back as undead Jason and have nods to the Remake don't officially say its a sequel so they can't get in trouble just make it close enough so the fans can decide in there head canon that they are connected
That's what the Evil Dead trilogy kept doing they kept loosing the rights to the movies so technically those movies aren't connected they just made them similar enough fans can protend they are connected
Get Fede Álvarez as director and get the rights to use the Necronomicon so we can see Jason's dead beat dad bring Jason back he's not a Deadite they just used a different spell to bring him back and it dosnt have to be connected to Evil Dead it's just a nice nod to his connection to the book in past movies

I would say the Remake is
Part 1 in the Pamela Flashback at the beginning
Part 2 in the beginning with the sackhead going after the first group
Part 3 and Part 4 when Jason gets the hockey mask and dies at the end
I bet if that movie got a sequel he be zombie Jason he wouldn't run anymore, he wouldn't use tunnels anymore, he have no hair anymore, his skin would be dark a rotten, he be immune to injury and he would be tellaporting

While a Friday the 13th show is cool, which I am on board with its gotten to a point now where budgets are too big for this franchise.
Friday the 13th came from a low budget concept, I know times change and it's a different business but it shouldn't cost this much to make a series out of such a simple franchise.
We don't want Charlize Theron . We want new actors. Theron is like too crazy for real. We need new actors/actress to play the mother. She's got to look like a foot. Betsey are you available? We can make exceptions.
This project is a headache. Time to move on.
I could believe A24 being over budget. But not having the experience to run a production this large? I don’t know. That would imply that the F13 rights owners/producers have any idea what the hell they were doing with the franchise for a decade +
@licechrispies Well the thing is so many people have different parts of the franchise so miller has the first script so everything from the first film paramount owns the name to Friday the 13th Cunningham and newline own hockey mask Jason it’s like too many cooks in the kitchen plus Also Jason was caught up in litigation for a couple of years

They are having a hard time because Friday the 13th IS NOT HALLOWEEN. I REPEAT FRIDAY IS NOT HALLOWEEN. A regular blood tits and machete for Friday today might not work today. It’ll be a one & done like the 2009 remake. They are trying to atleast give Jason a story or something to work with in order to give content. Unfortunately it’s hard because Jason barely has a story without Pamela but do ppl only wanna see Pamela ? Michaels lore is different from Jasons
I can understand wanting to spend some money on the show there are a couple of movies and tv series in recent years that rip off Friday the 13th and somehow Fear Street 1978 and AHS 1984 are the best. But a Friday the 13th show shouldn't be that expensive.
Hopefully the Crystal Lake tv series is still happening and it wont be cancelled but at this point we might not see the Crystal Lake tv show until at least 2027 or 2028...

Between the rights issue and so many people being involved in this no wonder it didn't happen. Again it feels like they were going a Bates Motel rout with this but it didn't work, I'm fine with prequel stuff to fill in the gaps but it needs to be good and Jason needs to be a big part of it don't wait forever to get him fully formed and doing his thing.

You guys need to watch and review The Bikeriders. I thought it looked dumb, and only went to see it because of Tom Hardy, also Austin Butler has been growing on me. The movie is awesome. Way better than I expected. It feels like a mix of The Iron Claw and Goodfellas. Unfortunately I think it is 100% certain to fail, like most movies this year. It just looks like a movie people would say “Maybe I’ll watch it when it hits streaming”, but it really deserves the support. My biggest problem is Michael Shannon only has like 2 scenes in the film. He’s Micheal F’n Shannon! Give him all of the screen time.
Also they play the full Nosferatu trailer in theaters for it and it made my heart drop. I didn’t know it was going to be here and it is such a great trailer. Probably my 2nd most anticipated film of the year based on the trailer.

Yay deconstruction. I always love when people take a simple story and overcomplicated it to show how clever they are. It's just a story about a giant dead guy in a hockey mask murdering hot dumb people. Bryan Fuller and Nick Antosca are both very talented, but they are the wrong fit for something like this. I'm hoping the series stays dead.
Anyone who’s seen Legion knows losing Bryan Fuller is a dumb move he could have made that Star Trek Discovery show watchable also!
I was looking forward to a prequel show. Hoped it would show Pamela Voorhees sabotaging the camp between Jason drowning and the first movie. Characters talked it being cursed and all the bad things that happened over the years, I always liked to believe it was always her doing.
Absolutely stupid to remake movies in tv format like you said we already have them. Next movies move at a good pace, you get less with TV shows because they just put filler in them. They have a chance to make a good story, also the timeline with the movies are all messed up so they have a chance to make a coherent story and timeline. Leave the films alone don't remake them, but no one can have n original idea. Pay the writers 100k to remake movies in TV format and add filler is garbage.

I might be crazy, but I think it would be cool to use this streaming series platform to do the Tommy Jarvis becomes jason storyline. Cast a young actor to play him from right after the final chapter and show his devolution into the new jason.
This IP has had the worst luck because of the constant focus on backstory. The character doesn't have the same intellectual premise as Michaels.
Jason is also not who he is because if his mother's treatment.
The backstory angle just doesn't work for a killing machine.

As lomg as Sean Cunningham owns thr rights I have no faith in any Jason project. He actively dislikes the character we know and love. Its the reason we got the sgitwgow of Jason goes to Hell.
There should also be a TCM tv series as well but ignoring the Netflix film ripping off halloween which the show take place 6 months after the events of the original film and would focus on the landscapes of muerto county and town of newt

I prefer Mrs. Voorhees to Jason. I wrote a script for a remake with that was just her as a killer. This was a year before this movie so I'm still bitter they're doing it first. I hope they don't underuse or miss cast her.

@WillBanks-mt7kt exactly. At least Scream is going in a different direction slowly, and Halloween is going in a different direction I hope. Laurie Strode has been beat to death and I think the franchise knows this. The two co creators of the Friday franchise need to look long term. Yeah, in the short term, someone is getting screwed but if done right, they both will win financially in the log term. Unfortunately one of them will probably have to pass away for the franchise to come back. Who knows
