    This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.

    According to Kitchenaid the Pro 600 is produced with all metal gears. This is likely the source for the "whine" you are hearing at high speeds. You can go with reinforced nylon to quiet it down but could potentially loose some power and it will wear much quicker, especially under heavier loading.

    I have a KitchenAid (K5) that I bought in the late 1980s. Julia Child used that model. It still works but it needs re-greasing, so I have to get it serviced. As for the motor being in the way, I use a scoop to add my dry ingredients. It's easy to slide the scoop into the side of the bowl. I know what you mean about the sound. It seems to pertain to that model. The 7 quart Pro Line is quieter. Artisan 5 quart is the older sound, so it's not high pitched like yours. Good video, thanks.

    • @TheCultureofCookery
      @TheCultureofCookery  3 роки тому +2

      The scoop! Yes, that's a good idea. I hate dirtying more dishes so I prefer to use what I've already used to (we don't have a dishwasher at the moment 😢) - but that's a good work around. Appreciate the comment though! I had a comment earlier from a person who uses their mixer to shred chicken etc, have you ever tried that? It's on my list of things to do! 😁

    • @sashineb.2114
      @sashineb.2114 3 роки тому

      @@TheCultureofCookery No, I've never used the mixer to shred chicken, but I've seen where other people do it. I think the meat has to still be warm or hot when it's done. The paddle is used, not the wire whisk. Apparently, it takes only seconds to do it. Yes, a scoop is terrific for adding ingredients to the bowl. And don't forget to have your mixer on a low speed when adding flour, so you won't get a cloud of flour to clean up.

    I have a 5qt professional from 1998 that is 350 watt and a 6qt professional from 2017 that is 575 watt. Bought both used (always buy these things used, people buy them and never use them!) both are both lift because I like the extra stability when mixing heavy items. I purchased the bigger newer one because it was a pretty blue steel color and I grind a lot of meat, although after using it for a bit I don't really think I needed it. I agree that the whine it makes is very annoying. I thought something was wrong with the mixer because the older one I have doesn't sound like that.

      If you bake frequently, I'd honestly give the Ankarsrum Assistent Mixer a look. I did like the KitchenAid for it's classic style and relative ease of use, but my everyday mixer has been the Assistent. I love how the open bowl makes it really easy to add to the mix! Just got one of these as an incredibly generous Christmas gift from my mom. For her, owning your own KitchenAid is like a right of passage. It's all she ever wanted when her and my dad were first married. I've always been more if a cook than a baker, but its hard to resist the urge to try it out when you're stairing down this machine. I've only tried bread and pizza dough so far, and it turned out great. Mom sent me the recipes from the book she used when I was little. I absolutely love my 6 quart bowl lift stand mixer! I’ve kind of gotten used to the awkwardness of adding dry ingredients or maneuvering my spatula around the attachment to me it’s not a big deal as far as the sound I rarely have it set to 10 unless I’m whipping something and in that case it takes no time to whip so again it really doesn’t bother me. I have experienced the 7 quart professional bowl lift model and the sound is so much more pleasant, it is so quiet in comparison! If the power unit on a tilt head and a bowl lift mixer are the same, there is no difference in that regard. The difference between the two is strength. The strength issue comes into play under heavy duty use like mixing and kneading stiff doughs. For light duty tasks they perform essentially the same way.

      If you're kneading dough for bread you should never go pass 2. A very common mistake people do is not reading the instructions and go full throttle. This will wreak havoc on the gears, which I think is what's happening to this guy's machine, judging by the screeching sound, it seems he's already damaged the worm and/or the gear that follows the worm. Sources: I am good at fixing stuff and I have fixed a couple of mixers, and I always read the manuals !

    by the way,some 7 quart ones use a dc motor that is silent even on max speed! they are much more pricey but worth the ear protection.

    Hello people, I just want to make a comment: RTFM (Read The F&$#ng Manual!) I am making this suggestion because I have helped some people fix their mixers because they go full speed when making bread dough or other kneading and think going fast is the way. Wrong. Kneading is hard so your mixer needs to do it on speeds 1 or 2 or you will end up shredding the gears. In my experience, the noice this guy's machine is doing is telling there is already damage to them.

      @@kmarcellina KitchenAid, I think they have a lot more attachments that are easily available too. Also, depending on how much (and for how many people you'd cook, I'd recommend looking into one with bigger bowls. I have a 6qt. bowl lift model, that fits great under the cabinets, unlike the tilt-head models that need space above to tilt the head up.

    "Mixers in that approximate bowl capacity range not covered". Please review a Hobart N50 and a Globe SP8. The Globe SP8 costs more than the KitchenAid PRO 600 but, it is a much better/stronger/longer lasting mixer. The Hobart N50 costs a lot more, but is built to industrial standards. Hobart N50s more than 50 years old still run like new machines. KitchenAid mixers built by Hobart, prior to 1986, were also well made mixers. When Whirlpool purchased KitchenAid, they began a program of redesigning many of the internal metal parts and replacing them with cheap plastic junk. The reliable speed control mechanisms, in the Hobart built KitchenAid mixers, were replaced with electronic speed control circuits which often fail.

    I'm sorry did he say it's been around since the 1980s?🤣 The reason kitchenaid itunade mixers are are getting harder and more expensive to find defined is because although although they are assembled in Ohio many of The internal parts are actually Lee sourced from China and we all know what a great job great job this administration is doing when it comes to trade. Let's go Brandon!
