+Mecha82 Close. The kit's better than I expected. The only things I don't like are the exclusion of the Gundam hammer and the beam javelin and the particular shade of white used here. Otherwise it's looking mighty impressive.
I always love your reviews and they got me in to building gunpla. Most people I know like the get HG because they are much cheaper then a MG. But I would rather spend the extra money on a good Gunpla kit then something that doesnt look as good and needs a lot more work. Here hoping for a Trion 3 MG or My holy grail kit Ive been wanting is an MG Psycho Gundam.
now that ive had time to digest the design and watch the majority of the ova and reread the manga, i think i know why the torso is abnormally large: pilot preservation. The feddies wanted to make sure that the pilots of their experimental test suits would be able to live, report and give feedback on the suit
yeeesss.... thanks for the review man.... at first, I'm already convinced to get this kit. But because of you, I can't sleep until payday... and you've made the RX-78-2 references... truly Grandpapi Gundam is the MS of all nostalgias...
Yo jabman, as fellow gunpla fan I just want to say, "keep up the good work bro, love the videos." Not only are they very informative but they are nicely done. You've earned a new subscriber :), this is also the very first time I've commented on any UA-cam video.
Hey Jabman! Great review as always, I might just pick this up although I do like the proportions of the 3.0. I wanted to make a comment about the photos you put at the end of your reviews. The color correction always seems just a little bit off. Comparing the reds and blues at 11:56 and 12:54, I would almost think they're two different kits. The colors in your photos can come off as very bright, toy-like and oversaturated in a Saturday morning cartoon kind of way. Is this something you've noticed, and is it something that you could consider altering in future reviews?
+ghostypheus I have noticed, one camera I use has a flash, and during the process of producing the video review, the colors are slightly altered in those pictures, I try not to use that camera as much as I once did
The only problem with this. I already have the RX-78 OYW ver. and my parents probably don't want me having another that looks exactly the same to them.
Do you recommend the mg aile strike gundam ver. Rm over this? I really like both designs put I dont know what kit is better (also, the hands of this kit can breake easily?)
I just recently bought the rx-78-2 origin I have to say I loved it it is way bettering than the version 3.0 poseiblity on the kit is amazing. I give it a thumbs up!
@5:30 my 3.0 kit is solid AF connection wise. some armor bits fall off though. ALSO my 3.0 can grab his sabers off his backpack as well, sounds like you got a shitty QA'd kit.
Looks like a nice version of the classic RX-78. A pity about the upside down shield though. It doesn't make sense having a view port if he's going to hold it that way.
+Vital Blurs RC I think you CAN have the shield the other way around, this is just how it holds it for some reason. I could swear on another review the person showed it both ways.
+Vital Blurs RC it actually makes more sense. This way, when it lifts the shield to block, the viewport is actually in front of the head instead of near the elbow.
+KaiRellim509 Yeah, I guess it should work well with action poses. It just looks a bit unusual in a neutral stance. Anyway, thanks for the review, Jabman.
hi sir, just a question did you experienced the little stress mark problem in the waist area? specifically the peg in the waist where the legs attach, thanks for your possible reply... 😊
Welp, looks like i might pick this up for my birthday. =) was debating on this or the 2.0. Question, can I get the gundam hammers anywhere? They seem to only exist on the 2.0, and i thought those things were cool looking which was a big factor for me wanting that one.
+Sono yeah you can still get he 3.0 p bandai kit on Amazon for not too much and its great for either the 3.0 or the origin, It come with the Hammer, Javalin, a second bazooka and a yellow led unit.
@jabman025 Hey was wondering I searched for hi nu ver ka on your youtube channel and hasn't seen a review. Did you by chance reviewed this? if so can you give me a link or if you didn't do you mind reviewing? I love your reviews and wanted to check hi nu ver ka. and see your opinion on it! Thanks in advance!!
+Leech8905 Prime92 did a good review for the HI NU Ver Ka. A while back. I have both the Original and the Ver Ka. I like both of them a lot. There is some better points to the original but a lot of good points for the Ver Ka as well.
Hello Jabman. Got a quick question. I order the PG Unicorn with LED Set. Do you have any advice for working on it. Ive built a ton of master grades around 85. But this is my first PG Kit. Ive built all 5 variants of the MG Unicorn. Is the build somewhat similar to the MG but with just more pieces. Is there any painting that needs to be done on the kit?
Thanks. I finished mine a couple of days ago. It wasnt too bad except for those legs and the leds at times. I also got the full armor set for it. Its nice and adds a lot to him, but has some really bad nubs though. I really like it though and once done it made me need to get the PG Banshee Norn to go with it.
So would you say this is a better kit than the 2.0 or 3.0? I'm looking to get an RX-78 but I'm not sure which one. I don't really like the tiny head or upside down shield though...
If you want a modern take on the RX-78-2 with a lot of detail and part separation, go for the 3.0. If you want possiblity and multiple accessories, go for the Origin
No core fighter. That's a big minus. I think the origins version has a unique core fighter in the manga, like the one in the fix figuration metal composite version. If Sunrise decides not to give a core fighter in the OVA, then I'll accept this kit, but for now, it's a "no."
For someone who doesnt have a master grade of rx-78 should i choose this over the 3.0?? I'mnot a fan of the proportions on the upper body, and the cannon and effect parts sadly.
for me this kit seems to have some of exias gimmicks with how the knee seperates and how the cockpit hatch opens also can someone do a history lesson and tell me the story of this gundam, im confused about the fact amuro pilots this, didnt he pilot the rx-78-2?
+Aaron Frausell Either Kits are great. I think the Origin is much better for action poses but he 3.0 is good transforming version though. Getting the p bandai upgrade kit for the 3.0 really helps either kit.
Aaron Frausell Thats cool. Cant go wrong with multiple version of the RX-78-2. One of my favorite Kits right under the Sazabi Ver Ka and the different version of the Strike.
In the manga they're coloured red. In the anime they're yellow. I don't have an LED lying around so I used the yellow piece so I could sight for the stickers, which are reflective.
Now this is MG RX-78-2 Gundam for me. All accessories and effect parts alone make this really tempting.
+Mecha82 Close. The kit's better than I expected. The only things I don't like are the exclusion of the Gundam hammer and the beam javelin and the particular shade of white used here. Otherwise it's looking mighty impressive.

welp, there's an actual fighter jet (core fighter) crammed inside the torso. of course it'll be big
I just order this last week and had this kit delivered a few days ago. It's definitely worth buying and building.
yeeesss.... thanks for the review man.... at first, I'm already convinced to get this kit. But because of you, I can't sleep until payday... and you've made the RX-78-2 references... truly Grandpapi Gundam is the MS of all nostalgias...

+Kenny Sartain thank you very much
I really hope some of these new features make their way into future MG's.
Great detailing on the joint articulation. A correction: both beam rifles fit unto the shield.
Jabman, may I suggest using a real touch marker grey 1 on your white armored kits. They are really nice and not as harsh as black is. :)
Hey Jabman! Great review as always, I might just pick this up although I do like the proportions of the 3.0.

I think that second rifle is supposed to be the Origin Beam rifle still I was wondering about this kit and I am liking what I'm seeing :3
Thanks man. Finally my dilemma is over to which RX-78-02 I will build
I agree with the head being too small for its body. You should've tried putting the head from the other versions if it fits and if it looks good.
The only problem with this. I already have the RX-78 OYW ver. and my parents probably don't want me having another that looks exactly the same to them.
ask your parents if they'd care if you had a twin
So Jabman would you say we are waiting to see if MG Origin can "Stand up to the Victory" for MG kit of the year?
I like this thing but to me the MK.II 2.0 has the sexiest swordpull/Draw.
Hey man, love your reviews and all, but I think that you really should be louder, or just increase the volume when editing. Thanks!
I agree. There are times that he sounds kind of low on the volume, especially when watching on a tablet.
can't wait to see V2 ver K review :3
I mean.. 120 points from Dalong's review. You can only expect a great kit. Honestly I don't think V2's gonna be better.
Do you recommend the mg aile strike gundam ver. Rm over this?
I really like both designs put I dont know what kit is better
(also, the hands of this kit can breake easily?)
I just recently bought the rx-78-2 origin I have to say
I loved it it is way bettering than the version 3.0
poseiblity on the kit is amazing.
I give it a thumbs up!
I was on the fence about this version or the 3.0. You sir have sold me on this one. :D
yet another very informative and awesome review
anyone seeing this in ready player one would be pleased!
I've been thinking about getting this, my only fear is that it would be too simple of a build. How fun would you say the build process is?
Will the LED light up through the head cameras as well if you don't put the stickers on?
Yes
I just wish they would have given you the "magnet coating" option, rather than keeping them open.
I wonder if the small head issue could be fixed by attaching the 3.0 or 2.0 head in place of the Origin-02?
Yea the body looked big but the more I see it, the more it grows on me
So if this version of the gundam comes with mounted machine-guns in his forearms
Do this the Rx-78 Alex useless?
Not really.
Nice review!! By the way, how many Gundams you have it till now in total?
"Super" Fumina please ^^
@5:30 my 3.0 kit is solid AF connection wise. some armor bits fall off though.
ALSO my 3.0 can grab his sabers off his backpack as well, sounds like you got a shitty QA'd kit.
the special edition. just ordered has led, with it, vithe red and yellow I rhibk
YGS every Friday
I just noticed; does this version of the granddaddy gundam not have a core block?
Gatling gun effect parts........ Alex hopefully?
There is a Infinite dimensions Alex conversion kit. Uses the inner frame from this kit
Yeah the Alex was made in to 2.0
Hey jab, you can actually put both rifles on the shield.
For the Eyes went with a red like you, but I didn't own a LED thus I went with the sticker.
+Vital Blurs RC you can switch it easily enough, they even give you instructions how to in the manual
+jabman025 Ah excellent. Thanks for that.
Damn, it looks good. Does it have the 2-tone colors of the 3.0?
Does this kit have a core fighter?
I kinda want one now, but how much is it? also, those glowing red eyes remind me of the blue destiny and the EXAM system. holy shit, that's awesome.
Hi Jabman! What would be your recommended beginner Perfect Grade? I am planing to buy my first perfect grade. Thank you sir!
Poor OYW Gundam, all that's left of him are his head and shield after being used for the diorama
hi sir, just a question did you experienced the little stress mark problem in the waist area? specifically the peg in the waist where the legs attach,
thanks for your possible reply... 😊
I just started reading gundam origin.
hey jabman, any chance you can do a comparison of the rx78 OYR version, 2.0, 3.0 and The origin version and which you prefer?
Welp, looks like i might pick this up for my birthday. =) was debating on this or the 2.0. Question, can I get the gundam hammers anywhere? They seem to only exist on the 2.0, and i thought those things were cool looking which was a big factor for me wanting that one.
I think there was a limited release.. Might be p bandai release of the weapons together that includes the gundam hammers
MG RX 78-2 One Year War Ver. come with the Gundam Hammer. Another one sold separately for 3.0 Gundam as P Bandai item if my memory serves me right.
+Leech8905 sorry didn't pick that kit up, but the way the demand for this review is getting I may have little choice
+Leech8905 Prime92 did a good review for the HI NU Ver Ka. A while back. I have both the Original and the Ver Ka. I like both of them a lot. There is some better points to the original but a lot of good points for the Ver Ka as well.
the hands on the kit are honestly not that great, but the rest is pretty great
Hi! I'm planning to start collecting MG's will this kit be a good intro kit?
RX-78-02 had yellow eyes in the anime and the manga not red.
+jabman025 I don't get the ending. What does it mean?
+Gunpla Time kind of running gag though my original gundam reviews, if you haven't seen them all you may not understand
I've seen many of your reviews. I just didn't get this one if there was a hidden joke in it.
+Gunpla Time watch his video of the diorama he made with the one year war version of RX78 and you'll get it
+Ralph Tan Ohhh. I see now. He-he-he-he!
Looks very cool!
+KaMmErAcK if you have built the mg kits you will be fine, it is just a lot bigger and more time consuming
Thanks. I finished mine a couple of days ago. It wasnt too bad except for those legs and the leds at times. I also got the full armor set for it. Its nice and adds a lot to him, but has some really bad nubs though. I really like it though and once done it made me need to get the PG Banshee Norn to go with it.
Awesome as always dude.
i've NEVER seen the rx-78-2 with red eyes.
I've totally never seen the RX-78-6 with red eyes. It's just how the eyes were liked in the origin manga.
The weird lighting on the old anime made it red.
isn't that torso thingie the same mechanism as the barbatos?
So would you say this is a better kit than the 2.0 or 3.0? I'm looking to get an RX-78 but I'm not sure which one. I don't really like the tiny head or upside down shield though...
If you want a modern take on the RX-78-2 with a lot of detail and part separation, go for the 3.0. If you want possiblity and multiple accessories, go for the Origin
looks really nice :3 i want it
your work is great but something with the proportions looks off to me

Mark Mejia if you don't dig it. then don't, just go for the one you like.
poor OYW Gundam. jabman, I demand you give him a new body xD
Help me out here, I don't know which version to get. Which one is the best?
Of all MG version of the RX78-2 Gundam, what is the best version?
If you want a true representation of the 1979 series then the 2.0 kit, if you want something a little more modern look then the origin
Hey Jabman025 what paint do you use to get the clear red eyes?
clear red from tamyia
was the led included in the kit? kinda new in collecting model kits.
+marc louis cabagnot (Mugen) afraid not, sold separately
for me this kit seems to have some of exias gimmicks with how the knee seperates and how the cockpit hatch opens
also can someone do a history lesson and tell me the story of this gundam, im confused about the fact amuro pilots this, didnt he pilot the rx-78-2?
+Primescape 16 also can you dual wield the two guns
+Primescape 16 yes easily
+Primescape 16 It's either a reboot or an alternate reality to the original Anime. Just like the Hi - Nu vs the Nu Gundam.
I dig this a lot.
should I get this or the 3.0?
I don't own an RX-78 yet what would you recommend version 3.0 or the origin version
+Aaron Frausell Either Kits are great. I think the Origin is much better for action poses but he 3.0 is good transforming version though. Getting the p bandai upgrade kit for the 3.0 really helps either kit.
+KaMmErAcK cool thanks a lot I am still considering buying both lol
Aaron Frausell Thats cool. Cant go wrong with multiple version of the RX-78-2. One of my favorite Kits right under the Sazabi Ver Ka and the different version of the Strike.
jabman025 ver.3.0 or The Origin is better ?
+cleetus hellhamster orgin, no contest
this is my 23rd mg. just one hundred pcs short... lol
were do u get the led's for it
no mg kit of the year 2015 vid? :(
+swarley after the V2 review yes
+jabman025 oh yeah... forgot about that guy
What LED color did you use? Was the LED also red?
+The Ultimate Teacher yes a red LED
@jabman025 can this RX-78 holding both guns at the same time ??? like dual beam rifle ???
+Biru Merah yes easily
+jabman025 thanks for the answered ... as always love the review...
Good day which is taller? Rx 72 origin mg or Freedom 2.0 mg??
Rx 78-2 origin
I was more like inspect them to mob char and garma mg zaku 2
Origin version or red warrior version?
+ichigolo Red Warrior for me. Has much better Accessories.
Cool!
Rx-78-2 has yellow eyes.
I thought all the rx 78-2s eyes were always yellow?
In the manga they're coloured red. In the anime they're yellow. I don't have an LED lying around so I used the yellow piece so I could sight for the stickers, which are reflective.
I have the manga and they are yellow
My mg origin eye is green. Sometimes blue.
Hell yeah 3.0 was very fragile. Damn thing is a nightmare trying to pose it without some piece coming off. Talking you feet and legs. Smfh.
The ending lmfao
How tall is it ?
what do u think is better? origin or 3.0?
Igneos Kai honestly origin verison even jabman said it earlier in the comment section
Up next is fumina.. WHY. WHY BUY THAT KIT?! :(
Should I get the Origin version, or the 3.0?
2.0 or OYW looks better for me. between those two, 3.0. the Origin material is too soft
Brino bo thanks
Get the oyw version it is the most badass looking and quite cheap, but origin is nice too
does it come with an LED?
Nevermind
Does this feel more solid than the 3.0?
+Patrick Vincent Aquino very much so
+jabman025 Now I wish I got the Origin instead :(
+Patrick Vincent Aquino I have Both the Origin and the 3.0 and I like both of them. The origin is better by far but the 3.0 is a fun kit as well.
Origin gundam has pink eyes
Show me LED!!
Gundam Predator the origin.
Anyone know how to get him to hold the fuckin bazooka?
That head is just too damn small.
Not expecting much from v2 seems too much like v1
These always look old and cheap, if you're painting them, maybe ok but they look so dated
@GoofyGoufer07 this is the problem when Bandai constantly update their most famous figure
+jabman025 What do you like about this kit?
+Gunpla Time hi sorry im not jabman
Cowdude Shquishy Lock Stratos I know you aren't jabman025.
+Gunpla Time I am
+jabman025 It's like your username says you're jabman025!
+jabman025 What do u like about the kit?
