I;'m confident that history will record Ann Mutter as one one of the great violists of our time.
The greatest 😍
There are a few now. Its an individual decision. To me its Perlman and Hahn, not to forget Hadelich.
What about Itzhak Perlman, Fischer 😝😝😝
@@bernardwolff8742 absolutely 💋
Without question, one of the very greatest!
I wouldn't say it is inferior to Perlman's at all. It is just different. More sentimental and free. And she plays it with more sound nuances, just like she does everything. Beautiful.
Well, you might not say that, but I certainly will :)
I believe Perlman's version is superior in all ways.
Fortunately this is art and everyone has his/her taste/ preferences. I am glad you like Perlman's, I like it too, as I like Mutter's. But "Superior" or "inferior" to me are terms I'd rather use for sport competitions, not music.
@@belmon38Agree with you! Bro
:D
How very true indeed😊
People keep trying to compare performances like they're on a spectrum, artistic performances -- especially at the top levels -- are not on a spectrum of better or worse, they're just unique
Soooo tender & expressive.... Melts my heart!
Einfach, einfach beeindruckend. Danke Anne-Sophie Mutter für diese Interpretation. Chapeau.
I could never play this song. First of all, because I don't have a tenth of Anne's talent but secondly this song is so sad, I always cry, when I hear it.
Me too.
The song of millions innocent Jewish souls.
The lightness of her bow is crazy!
Mariss Jansons (1943-2019) RIP beloved maestro.
Simply amazing
She is Ann-Sophie, she is! No comparison, please! I prefer listen and understand. It is her interpretation and her creativity. To explane this theme is very difficult, it needs a lot of emotions. Respekt, please!
That 4th finger half step shift down no vibrato from F to E at 2:34 is probably one of the cleanest and purest notes I’ve ever heard. No manipulation just simply a bow drawing out the note
Of course she is one of the top violinists. Somehow on this work Perlman's version remains one of the best above all due, to my mind, to his straight forward delivery of the work. Lets not forget that Perlman was involved with this work since its inception and that may have helped
Agreed
Perlman’s version probably suits the theme of the movie better… Anne’s is more reminding of romance rather than a holocaust..
Love this!
Just beautiful.
Agree, gorgeous, always a very moving piece ,
I prefer Perlmans approach heavier with grief and sadness and not cut off before the climax of the piece.
Dreadful to cut it off...not worth showing it then.
When you get married at 20.00, but you have a concert at 21.00!!!
Perlman’s version is simply better because this version is over flourished. The beauty of the song and the music is in its simplicity. Williams mentioned it’s reflective of the musical equivalent of those working class jews playing this music in the ghettos. In my view and because of its simplicity, it is stripped back from all of the showy frivolities and is a screeching heart wrenching sound from a simple man whose violin sings his soul. This is where she went wrong with playing this piece and where Perlman nails it so graciously.
And God created an angel on earth, Sophie Mutter!
Tears on my eyes
Just amazing...
Grande esecuzione. Bravissima
Sehr sensibel gespielt!
As much I like Perlman's playing, when Sophie-Mutter plays, her violin appears to be singing.
and his sounds like it is crying... which fits this particular piece better.
and Perlmans not???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 get your ears fixed.
@@Jaujau933 well as @jedinxf7 said, his violin's crying. And like I said, I had nothing against Perlman's playing, so you can get your eyes checked
Respect...
Once you've heard Perlman's version, it's hard to prefer any other. I'd definitely like to hear Hilary Hahn do it because I consider her the greatest violinist of all time, but sometimes certain pieces are tailored for certain violinists, and no one can do them better.
This is really not Hilary's style.
@@danieltran9634 In what sense? Are you suggesting this kind of beautiful and moving melody as a tribute to Jewish Holocaust victims is somehow beneath her? Did you ask her?
Diosa..!! Gracias..!! Anne Sophie Mutter...!!!
zum weinen schön.........
Being a great fan of Mutter I think she missed the spirit of the piece. Hers is an intimate praying-like reflection that is trying to be sad but is lacking the intensity of the universal pain and tragedy and thus all the tension falls apart.
I understand where she comes from, being very personal and refined but it doesn't work here.
In this piece Perlman is hard to bit. He has the perfect balance between sadness and pain, between the intimate individual and the epic universal tragedy.
Himmlische Anne-Sophie Mutter - Danke- Belle..,...,..,...
For my tuppence I would say that Perlman's original version is the better of the two. Of course this is subjective but his reading is more tender and humble. He also plays it more simply with less rubato which for me ASM overdoes. The orchestra has a hard time of it following her as she trades emotion for rhythmic integrity. They both, of course are marvellous violinists and I've played in orchestras with both. Live, Itzhak Perlman towers above Anne-Sophie Mutter. A churlish thing to say when the later is so gifted a violinist herself.
Subjective definitely.... Maybe I prefer Anne-Sophie Mutter approach here, over the one I heard from Perlman but even that is splitting hairs, so really I prefer both. If I had the gift of talent like they have, I would play it differently each time depending how I feel.
To me Mariss Jansons makes all the difference. He is the far better conductor than John Williams! :D
I agree, I prefer Perlman although they are both incredible.
Whyyyyyyy did you cut the end 😭😭😭😭
Where full video, on site error
Verdade ?
👏
It was so good. How come they ended early?
🙏
Unfortunately can't find the full concert anymore
Platon
why ins't this available anymore on Meidci!?
Piece is cut short. WTF!
No go...
matur suksma
Show de bola
Better than Perlman, sorry! Much more feeling and musicality!!!
Minus za nagłą pauzę na końcu
May I speak to . My Aunt Barbie and I'm sorry
Poor rendition - she doesn’t feel this music. Itzhak Perlman’s original performance on the film OST remains the best.
Couldn't agree more... very bland performance...
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Morigi5 are you serious?! Just because, it‘s different from what you know, doesn‘t mean it‘s bad, okay?
And how dare you to call her unmusical? Have you listenend to her recording of the Beethoven, Mendelssohn or Brahms Concerto? She is an wonderful Violinist, just has a very different style than dear Mr. Perlman, neither better or worse. It‘ a matter of taste. But if you don‘t like it, please don‘t say it‘s bad, that‘s just not true.
@Morigi5 Poor hearing-Sorry
Leen Jean Leen Jean Am I serious? You bet I am. How dare I? Hah... because I can and I do.
As it happens, I met Frau Mutter in person at her concerts in multiple venues and I own many of her classical recordings. She plays Mozart beautifully and Beethoven, less so Sibelius, for example. All this is a matter of personal taste. To each his own.
yall did her dirty with that thumbnail lmao
Hahah. I almost never comment..but this was so on point
shawn acevedo what do you mean?
The thumbnail's not that bad...I just checked!
