Absolutly! 1. Reloading Dies (RCBS, Lee, Dillion either one or the best deal you can find) 2. Shell Holder 3. Powder (I like IMR 4895) 4.Primers (CCI 200) 5. Lee Case Length Gauge and Cutting Tool 6. A good reloading manual 7. Projectiles (303 caliber or .311 diameter) 8. And something the check your overall length I hope this helps
@@MontanaGunGuy Absolutely! I'm extremely novice at doing this stuff, I used the equipment at family or friends workshops. Its about time I did it myself!
@@MontanaGunGuy I recently just got a Type 99. Cheap sporterized rifle. But the ammo is whats gonna cost my arm, leg and my soul. So it would be best to get my own equipment so it will pay for itself one day.
For 7.7 Japanese, hand loading it the the most affordable way. Commercial ammo is very expensive, and I also reload 7.62x54r and .303 British so I'm buying the exact same bullet for all three cartridges which saves me money.
Neither my type 38 or my type 99 like to chamber rounds from the magazine very well. I use factory ammo from graf and sons and steinel and neither cycle ammo into the chamber very well. Is the factory ammo the wrong length? They seem to get caught at the top of the chamber. My 99 shoots very well just doesnt always cycle reliably.
So 7.7x58mm ( type 92 )bullet diameter is 7.89 while the 303 is a 7.92 diameter this means the 303 would be putting extra stress on the bore of a Arisaka 99 wearing rifling faster. So Wiki has started a rumor and is saying that the 303 is interchangeable with ALL 7.7x58mm. Including the (type 99 7.7x58) bullet listed as a bullet diameter of 7.7mm on Wiki. so dose wiki have this wrong and it is not the best idea to interchange and use these bullets? Can you Measure the bullet diameter and weights are and see what the real diameters are for the sake of proper history and reloading data if you could make this video it would help me and others greatly?
澤仁Hitoshi Sawa the .303 diameter in inches is .312, the .311 bullet will for the 7.7x58 Japanese won't harm the rifle. Wiki has the incorrect info regarding this. I've shot hundreds of these rounds through my Type 99 with no issue. I've also used these projectiles through my brothers Lee Enfield and my Mosin M44.
but only 1 type of 7.7x58 was copied from the brit 303 that was the type (89 7.7x58) and the other two type( 7.7x58 type 99) round the type 92 7.7x58 are all Japanese origin. will you measure original type 99 and type 92 7.7x58 to compere the bullet diameter and weight to see what the real difference is ?
澤仁Hitoshi Sawa don't even worry about the Type 92 that's a machine gun that shot 7.7 Semi-Rimmed completely different from what the Type 99 shoots. I would make a video but I am currently out of state. There is no difference
澤仁Hitoshi Sawa and the Semi-Rimmed 7.7 has been out of production since the mid 1940s, I would have nothing to compare it, I'm sorry but this is the best information I can give you at this point in time
It’s 6 years later, but I have a 99 my dad bought back and just picked a fixer upper at a gun show
Oh nice! That will be fun to fix up
This same caliber also works for the 7.65 Argentine. Very diverse caliber
Absolutely! I use the same projectile in my 1891 Argentine Mauser and it is absolutely amazing!
I have an arisaka type 99 and a Springfield 30-06 I want to learn how to reload for them but I don't know where to start
I reload for my Type 99 LMG and it takes me a few weekends to make enough. My Gun loves 150gr. hornady.
How to reload it? Can you show step by step?
super late but 6.5 Swedish mauser clips work well. i have tested it personally and no issues
When I had both my Type 38 and 99 they did worked well. I used the Swedish Mauser clips with my 1903 now.
7mm mauser stripper clips work with the arisaka's and the 7.7's
So do swedish mauser clips.
I have a question. Can you make a small list of the equipment you use for this video? It would be a big help.

@@RestlessBogatyr Tbh I actually just sold my Type 38 and my Type 99. I kinda miss the 99 but not the 38.

supposed to be 183 grain in the bullet for original load
True, but manufacturers don't make a 183gr .311 diameter bullet. The largest they go is the 174gr. If they did make the 183 gr, I would be using it.
LifeOfaReloader so hand loading is the way to go even thoe the 7.7x58 is a diffrent shape then 303 and larger?

LifeOfaReloader oh i think i want to go original ik its going to be hard but i will be pround in the end to shoot original load out of my gun

Question: what does your reloading manual say about using IMR 4895 with a 150 grain projectile?
I had to do some homework on that but what I found from Sierra was start at 43 not to exceed 48
