as soon as covid reached my country (Greece), I remembered this movie, and immediately rewatched it. An amazing, terryfyingly accurate film. Other than the unrealistically short incubation period of MEV-1, everything else is super accurate.
Actually, the incubation period is quite fast for covid, especially about how fast you are to become contagious within the time you get the virus and actually show symptoms
@@karlbaxter3350 oh i think you misunderstood. i was not comparing mev-1 to covid19. I was comparing to how deseases are created and spread in general. Either way, the incubation period is the time between infection and showing symptoms. So the incubation period of covid is quite long (1-3 weeks). For example, the incubation period of the flu is usually around 3 to 5 days after initial infection, ad for rabies its 6 weeks to 4 months! One of the biggest problems with covid is that it has a long incubation period (so its hard to suspect that you might have it) and, like you said, it is contagious even before the incubation period ends. We are lucky it is not as deadly as MEV-1

10:02 That's a half truth. She did the right (and best) thing by gathering the potentially infected's contact info so people could handle the situation quicker. Then she informed those who needed to know that she was infected. There was no other scene of her working, and she didn't show symptoms until just before the scene I described.

The character Dr Erin Mears woke up with the symptoms of the flu in the morning- immediately informed her boss and self isolated in her room- she made calls to try and contain those who may have had contact with her, it’s unfair to say that she wasn’t careful and caused more issues - I thought it would be more interesting the fact that she was only eating packaged foods and her boss told her to eat a proper meal - which she got at the hotel and the very next morning she was sick. If anything he boss let her down.

Truly an amazing movie, as well as a sobering one. Being immunocompromised as well as having several chronic illnesses going out and coming into contact with those who are still not taking this pandemic seriously would be a death sentence. Not metaphorically speaking, not an exaggeration but truly; it would not be a question of if I would die but a question of when. I've been on complete lock down for almost 2 months now. A strict no in or out, my husband has been locked down with me just as long, he had to request permission for it otherwise we wouldn't be able to stay in the same home if he had to go out every day. It's truly frustrating to see so many people in the world and especially in the United states who are refusing to take this situation seriously. I had to go out once in these 2 months because a neccessary medication I take could not be picked up by anyone other then myself with an ID required(which we're trying to circumvent the need for me to pick it up and have permission for my husband to pick it up for me) and I had a woman who was coughing and sneezing with out covering her mouth or taking any kind of precautions standing an inch if that behind me. I had a full blown panic attack and begged her to move back and give me space. She got very angry, scoffed at me and then begin yelling in my face about being a sheep, stupid, overreacting, calling it a hoax and brought up trump. I panicked and ran out without even getting my meds. Started whipeing everything down with Clorox wipes, put the clothes I was wearing straight into the washing machine and took a shower right after. I was terrified, still am of getting sick and dying all because one woman decided that her personal beliefs are more important then my whole life.
@心静渊智 the only problem with that is that the medication is a type which I have to pick it up in person and show a valid government ID in order for them to give it to me.
@心静渊智 that's what I'm trying to do now, it's been incredibly difficult. It's a medication that has both pain relief as well as a medication to coat my esophagus and stomach to make it less painful for me to eat and keep my esophagus from constricting. So I guess I'll loose weight and live on medical grade protein shakes for as long as I can. We're trying to see if we can find a way to circumvent the rule of which I have to pick it up and be able to have my husband having permission to do it for me.
This is the only movie the teacher of my nursing class let us watch in highschool because she said it was exaggerated but incredibly accurate to what would happen
I watched contagion with my family around a couple months into quarantine. I loved it due to how much I could relate to it. (While covid isn't as bad as the one in the movie I could still see parallels)
It's accurate because they did their home work when the H1N1 virus was spreading, they were able to get first hand notes from the CDC and WHO after that.
This movie is predictive programming. The reason covid is so similar is because the plandemic is also going to a script. Covid has NEVER been proven to be real. This is biblical prophecy playing out.
Man even at home prom night is accurate to right now. Me and my friend are going to have a virtual graduation party in May since we don't have graduation and can't party 😂

I really liked this movie.
I really don't like this reality ^^
I loved this film when it was released I remember having conversations with my friends about it and them saying it's only a movie. I was like ummm they used pandemic scientists to help write the script. It's what would happen if something like that did break out. Now we are all stuck at home while they work out a way to stop it spreading.
I live in Australia and the number is starting to drop of infected cases which is a good sign. I've been at home for weeks now due to the nature of my job. Working with immuno suppressed disabled people so I have to be sickness free at all times.
It's crazy how right they got it.
Hahaha yeah I talked about it for ages after too. Recommended it to everyone lol

Yo could you take a look at a film called "The Bay" in the future.
I want that
Adding it to the list now! Thanks :)
@@filmcomicsexplained thank you. And wow....this new video got me paranoid of the stupid virus we have now

"The Bay" is such a freaky movie. I've watched it 3 times.
2011: Nice movie
2020: Nice documentary
🤣
Who's watching this after the T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City ?
I beat RE3 Remake in 2.5 Hours
the most annoying part of the game is having to fight nemesis but you forget to carry your grenade launcher, or the fact that zombies are harder to dodge than a big dude that takes up all the room in the map
Qrow Branwen I see that game as aDLC of RE2 remake, short and more story driven. Boss fight is nonsense compare to RE2
@@Wolfgang85-JC
yes that is true, I hope the developers can update this with more DLC to make it into its own stand alone game, I like the weapon variety in this game but RE2R wins because the map is actually explorable and not linear with no way to re explore areas after you beat them.
Billie Eyelash I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago.
RE3 Remake while good felt very rushed to me IMO

I watched this movie on a high school date. We were laughing at first then we both got into it.
Afterwards for 4 years we expected a pandemic and prepared for it.

as soon as covid reached my country (Greece), I remembered this movie, and immediately rewatched it. An amazing, terryfyingly accurate film. Other than the unrealistically short incubation period of MEV-1, everything else is super accurate.
Down to the government lies
@@natashacutiepie6074 what????
@@georgetsoukalas1409 ah- thank you for correcting me, and yeah thank god, but lets hope it doesn't mutate to being as deadly as MEV-1
I remember watching this, thinking it was a good movie, and wondering “when” it would strike. The potential for a new outbreak and the world’s unpreparedness has been mentioned several times by the leading experts for the past 20+ years
I was actually in the coronavirus vaccine trials. i felt just like the doctor who injected herself with the vaccine first. I wish i could've been smart enough to make my own vaccine :( but at least i got it.
You’re a hero for helping in the development of the vaccine, you took a risk and now the rest of us can have a safe vaccine. Bless you, truly

Ah yes, I'd love to get my skin grafted with the number of the beast and be tracked down by big daddy gov
Except in America there are those without health insurance and most likely due to that will refuse to get the vaccine. I know I rather die from covid than live to pay 80,000 dollars for the rest of my life while unemployed due to the pandemic
10:02 That's a half truth. She did the right (and best) thing by gathering the potentially infected's contact info so people could handle the situation quicker. Then she informed those who needed to know that she was infected. There was no other scene of her working, and she didn't show symptoms until just before the scene I described.
I'm glad you made a follow up video for this movie lmao
Thanks for covering this film. My husband and I were so overwhelmedl by it the first time we saw it, that we bought tickets and went right back in to watch again.
I won't say I love this movie, but, rather, I deeply appreciate it for it's brutal honestly.
I remember watching this in theaters back in high school. It’s what made me want to pursue becoming an epidemiologist.

Im from Spain, my father is at home after 1 week in the hospital with coronavirus. Now we are both here in lockdown and I see your new video.
Juan José de la Torre glad he’s better now
😔🤗
"Go back to the car or I will detain you"..."Where?" lol
I saw this movie back in 2016 and through that time I was told that my grandpa survived the spanish flu back in Europe, yet his lungs were never ok after, It was a matter of time for this to happen again and we don`t learn from history we tend to repeat it, me? I started doing the hygine part and all since I work on delivery food here in Guatemala, so I was aware that bacteria was always a threat, still working till today with it cause you never know what will happen and I have to work to pay my debts, This movie was hard but real, like I say it was a just a matter of time for this to happened again. We always must be prepared.
Covid is exactly like the Spanish flu, both will kill via the vaccines. Don't be deceived that covid is real. It has NEVER been proved to be real. The president of Tanzania was recently murdered for exposing this giant hoax. He used the PCR to test a paw paw and a goat. Both came back positive for covid! The inventor of the test Kary Mullis said his test would not detect viruses. Look on bitchute for uncensored info.
At seven minutes since released this is the earliest video I ever saw as well as one of my fastest clicks after seeing the title
I saw this movie in Biology class a few years ago.
A very fitting time to post this video.
Saw this his in the theater back in the day.
Lived it the last year or so.
Moral of the story, “wash your hands, drink vitamins and exercise regularly.”
Thank you! And try not to touch your face... I've got that one down from having acne in highschool.

Watches contagion once** you know I’m something of a doctor myself
WATCHES IT A MILLION TIMES*** I am a doctor
paltrow's siezure scene is her best work!
I actually thought her dying and just being still was her best work lol
You should do V for Vendetta next, since you’re doing all these timely movies.
My mom and I watched this movie and saw how fast a virus can spread throughout the world. We believe this movie was a warning as well as a instruction manual for future infectious diseases.
How true it was:
Dr. Meers wasn't working when she got sick-She was on the phone to get the contact information of the hotel employees in case they got sick too-She thought she might have accidentally infected them
I was literally talking about how similar this movie is to our situation now back in December/January when this shit was starting!
6 months after i watched this UA-cam once again recommended it to me, nice one UA-cam algorithm
Them tube likes pushing fake narratives on people while censoring the truth. Bitchute is better.
The thematic music really builds tension in so many scenes
To anyone who is being affected by Covid now directly or indirectly, stay strong! Ps stakeland or dog soldiers please!
Dog soldiers defo great movie
Man I remember watching dog soldiers on Sci-fi before they changed the channel name
I remember Dog Soldiers. Loved it growing up.
Think he did stakeland already
Niyat is always name dropping Dog Soldiers when he talks about Neil Marshall, so only a matter of time, stakeland is just a favorite cult classic I'd like to see covered
Great video Film bro! 😎✌
loved when you covered the mev-1 virus 2 years ago and now the whole movie!
I remember watching this in theaters with a friend. After it was over I remember we were both talking about how much we hated Jude Law's character and how he seemed to be the guy who would definitely exist in a real pandemic
I don't recall PPE being an issue in the movie but I do recall a line about nurses refusing to show up to work out of fear of infection.
I saw this in the theater when it came out and recommended it to ppl. Most weren't receptive...oh how times have changed.

Fun fact. We are living the movie out in real life
Ok everyone notice that everything started with a bat both in the movie and real life?
Except that's not true, the bat soup isn't even confirmed.
@@Cwhirt910 Bats are hosts for coronavirus, and vectors for animal to animal transmission. They're likely the source, just not directly from being in soup.
@@Cwhirt910 the issue wasn't the bat soup but the fact that a virus did a jump between bats and pangolins before arriving at humans.

Contagion is definitely the smartest movie ever made that's tackled this subject. Although dated, the Andromeda strain is still a classic.
We're trying to see if we can find a way to circumvent the rule of which I have to pick it up and be able to have my husband having permission to do it for me.
watching this movie in 2021 hits DIFFERENT.
I remember watching this movie when it came out and thinking how easily that could really happen.
Look at us now.
One of the movies that motivated me to study both microbiology and epidemiology
This is the only movie the teacher of my nursing class let us watch in highschool because she said it was exaggerated but incredibly accurate to what would happen
This film exactly predicted social media and show hosts causing distrust in vaccines.
This comment aged poorly.
I watched contagion with my family around a couple months into quarantine. I loved it due to how much I could relate to it. (While covid isn't as bad as the one in the movie I could still see parallels)
Brilliant movie, watching this when I was younger inspired me to pursue a medical career
Wishing the best to you and all medical workers during this time. Thank you for keeping us safe.
I remember watching this late last year and thinking that it was terrifyingly accurate, and now seeing 2020 this film just feels even more real
What I especially loved about the movie is the cinematography and color palette. Kinda has a orange/yellowish hue, like yellows really stand out here
1 year later and this shitshow is still going on
I had to watch this film for my nutrition and wellness class last year I’ve loved it.

The best thing about this movie, is the walter white cameo.

The year 2020, based on the movie "Contagion"
When I first watched this movie, in the end, I was like "All of the events in this movie can be prevented if that chef washes his hand first".
Really the only difference I saw in this and current times is that once the disease was known, people actually wore masks.
I watched this movie twice, back 7 or 8 years ago. For some people it may look bored or the plot is too slow. But as a person who came from medical background, I really love this movie!
