I agree same what i was thinking especially since you had close to an extra 3 dollars left you could a dozen eggs at walmart i have noticed at my walmart eggs are less than 2 dollars for a dozen now
When I see these videos it makes me so hopeful that mama’s and daddy’s struggling to feed their kids and families can get some ideas from these. Some people aren’t creative (me included) to think of some of these ideas. Thank you for sharing.
I recently found you from southern frugal mamma channel. Love budget meals since my husband and I are retired and on a limited budget. I know I will enjoy your videos. See you soon.
Tip: Idk if anyone else does this, but I use Everything Bagel Seasoning with my Cottage Cheese for a quick easy snack or part of my lunch. It's so good if you like savory. There are a lot more ways to make it sweet if you prefer that 😊
What I really appreciate about this video is that you have used as many fruit and veggies as you could for the money you had. A lot of the folks who do these kinds of videos don’t. WTG!!
Great job on the meals! I can eat the same thing almost every day and it wouldn't bother me because growing up we didn't have money and did eat alot of the same things each week. Being grateful and content helps 👍
Amen! I call this "Oh Lord, manna again?". I went through some money woes when my kids were young and it was oatmeal for breakfast and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch (government surplus cheese, just to give an idea how old I am). I realized that like the Israelites I was grumbling about having food - the same food day after day. Changed my outlook for sure!😊
@@shellyturner2766 oh yeah I definitely remember gov cheese lol and blue milk 🤣. Remember the yellow "generic" boxes of everything? OMGosh I remember hiding my face when shopping with my mom and our cart was full of yellow boxes! I ate grilled cheese all the time lunch and dinner sometimes and I still love it... yeah I'm weird though I rarely touch oatmeal anymore and hubby won't touch it with a ten foot pole. He grew up poor too☺️👍.
When I saw the grilled apple cheese sandwich I hit subscribe! Plan to do a binge watch by this weekend. These ideas seem so realistic! One of my adult sons is living at home since covid and has gone back to school. He is very tall and physically active so I will likely have to double his food budget, but we are going to try this next week. I think he will like everything you made. Thanks.
I would try all of these excluding the cucumber…just can’t do them. I like mixing cottage cheese in my spaghetti, so i think a dollop would be a good addition to your Turk-n-roni. Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas and meals. You are a blessing to many.
1st Thank you 2nd I went from a family of 4 to 1. Children grew up and moved out then hubby got put in a nursing home (he is 53 I'm 48) 3rd you are beautiful and again thank you for a video like this ❤ its hard to do for just one. Most ppl don't realize 😢
Beefaroni, Turkeyroni, whatever you decide to call it will work. I don't know where my family came up with our name for it, but we call it Johnny Marzetti! We make it with whatever ground meat have (hamburger, chicken, sausage, etc), elbows, and tomato sauce. We've even made it using tomato paste made into tomato sauce!! Great Job Mandy!!
Many many years ago (maybe 50) years ago Weight Watchers used to have either breakfast or snack, I don’t remember mock cheesecake. Put cottage cheese on top of bread then sprinkle with sweet n low and cinnamon and broil for a minute or two. Boy was that delicious! I still eat it occasionally.
Picky eater here and I think I would eat most of these or at least try them, not a huge cottage cheese fan but with fruit on top I might be able to do it (LOL). I loved when you made the rest of the strawberries into a compote. It looked so good! Great variation and great ideas using some fresh ingredients. Well done! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 I might do those cheeseburgers tonight, how many of us would go out and pay a lot to eat that but you showed how easily you could cook it up at home. Looking forward to more of these videos. ❤
leftover strawberries: melt up a chocolate bar in the microwave and dip the berries and enjoy choco covered strawberries (yes for breakfast)...enjoy! dts/usa
next time you do the strawberry cottage cheeze toast, just chop your berries alll up, add yout honey to them, and then stir in the cottage cheeze and spread on your toast. Also, what you are calling beefaroni would be called goulash or American Chop Suey. Beefaroni is a meaty sauce on mac n cheeze :)
You do an excellent job at showing how to cheaply incorporate more expensive items such as fruits and vegetables, that are not included in many budget meal plans. I also figured out that this equals to $140 for my family of seven.
Quick tip - if you didn't know, you can add a little lemon juice and your apple from oxidizing. It gives it a slight flavor change but it's a fresh taste. I like it. But you might want to try it on a small piece to start, because tends to flavor the whole apple.
I enjoyed this video a lot - but... First of all, oh boy, groceries over there are so expensive - IT'S CRAZY!!!! Second, even if you are on a strict budget, you probably have a lot of spices such as cinnamon at home, which do enhance a lot of meals! So yes, you could have added some onto your strawberry toast 😍 without cheating on your challenge! And last but not least, when I do something like this, I cook a package of pasta in the beginning of the week, eat a portion the day of the cooking and put the rest in the fridge for future meals - that could be making a sauce for it, putting some pasta, sauce & cheese in the oven, put pasta with some veggies and eggs in a frying pan - you get the idea 😉 Anyhow, loved the video, gave me some great ideas, thanks 🎉
A good fun variation of the grilled cheese is a peanut butter and apple grilled sandwich(no cheese) since peanut butter is a good protein it can be used in place of the cheese. I make the pasta salad a lot during the summer months and to make it a main course I add cooked diced chicken and chunks of cheese to it also. Served with crackers it is a complete meal.
Really like the grilled cheese sandwich with apple slices recipe and the strawberries and cottage cheese with toast recipe -- am used to using tomatoes with grilled cheese sandwiches-- the fruit ideas were great to try-- never thought of fruit used that way-- thank you for the recipes!
I love cottage cheese and fruit! And with the addition of the bread as cards, this meal would definitely fill me up and be sustaining! I made an apple grilled cheese on my channel too! It was great! Good with a little cinnamon too!
Hi from Montréal Canada. Went to Walmart yesterday and discovered great value pasta sauce in a jar , 1.49$ (Canadian) cheaper than any other brand. Great job getting so many meals for $20! Old (very old) WW recipe, combine a serving of cottage cheese with sugar free jam of your choice, put on top of bread, broil it until top is lightly browned. I had a small toaster oven that I used.
We grew up with cottage cheese toast! It's delicious! I like it savory rather than sweet with everything bagel seasonings. I could live on this and be happy. Great job!
Iam going to try the cottage cheese on toast with strawberries, I usually have 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and top it with red grapes, it's absolutely wonderful. Love your video.

I heard that! I almost did a back flip when I seen how low eggs were again!
That’s what I was thinking too. Could have egg sandwiches for breakfast or lunch. Add hard boiled eggs to the pasta salad.

Granny Smith apple, grated up with strawberries is another way to make jam because there’s lots of pectin in the apple.
