The beautiful Judy Garland is brilliant in this scene form the classic 1946 movie The Harvey Girls! This beautiful and classic song should have never been deleted form the movie!
John Hodiak died of a heart attack at the age of 41! I had such a crush on him when I was a little girl. I didn't know that at that time he had already passed away. So sad. I've always loved old movies and I think the period between 1937 and 1955 are when my favorites were made.
I love this movie, Judy Garland was a great actress and had a beautiful voice i loved her musicals 🎶🎶 John Hodiak was a very handsome man but I don't remember seeing him in other movies it's so sad that he passed away at the young age of 41😥 this was a beautiful scene from the movie, Hollywood has a bad habit of deleting scenes from movies so why did they film it for???
Thanks for posting this. I've seen the footage of the song before, but it's nice to see how it fits in the narrative of the film. I love this film but I always feel that there should be more numbers by Judy in the film. The second half of the film is particularly in need of another musical number. This is such a nice song and a tender moment between the two leads, I'm really sorry that it was cut. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of what might have been.
Wow! Thanks.I have the soundtrack on CD with this song, but its great to see how it was sung in the movie. I love this movie Judy Garland was both brilliant and funny(especially in the gun scene) in this movie. Angela LansburyRIP🌹 was brilliant as her love rival and John Hodiak was very handsome, brilliant and adorable as her suiter.😉
Oh, I love this movie SO much! John Hodiak is one of my all time favourites! Thanks very much for uploading this for us! I wish they would have left this in the movie, the song between them is really lovely.
This has been up for 5yrs & I've just noticed it!! Thank You, and its in pristine condition! She looked so Beautiful in this film, one of my favorites! Love John Hodiak as well, he had a quiet intensity about him.
Absolutely! There was very little time allowed for their characters to develop and for everyone to understand their characters falling in love. Someone really goofed!!🤔
With the Blu-ray and the restoration, wouldn’t it be nice if someone thought to add this to the movie along with the other deleted songs and scenes! This Should also be done with the new Blu-ray Easter parade with the song Mr. monotony! Etc.
Angela Lansberry said, Judy Garland was very "thin and very much happy and in love" during this time. I can see that there was a possibility of retirement, and becoming a wife was definitely in her attitude when she made this film. She even admitted years later signing that MGM contract after her marriage to Vincent Minnelli was the worst thing she could of have did for her mental state at that time. I guess the love and protection she wanted from Vincent blinded the reality of the controlling studio powers that consented that marriage and the birth of Liza Minnelli in the first place. She Gave Mankind the greatest entertainment on celluloid and because of it I'm so grateful for her contribution, but in returned, I wish she was protected and understood for her humanity and womanhood.
Wow - much as I love Judy Garland, I wouldn't have wanted to get on the wrong side of her in real life - when she plays 'angry' she comes across as pretty feisty.
Very nice job, both in terms of sound and picture, as it cuts from Hodiak's fall/Judy's giggle to the beginning of the cut song. However, it would be nice to see a copy of the shooting script, as there was undoubtedly dialogue cut before Judy starts the intro (otherwise her breaking into song has no motivation). I also think the ending of the number should DISSOLVE to their arriving back to town, rather than a fade out. But that's just me. Have you done the same thing with "March of the Doagies?" This would be far more challenging, as we have NO IDEA why Judy clasps her necklace as the scene fades out. I mean, what transpires before they all start singing the cut "Doagies" song?? Would love to see the script. Wonder if the cut dialogue exists. Probably not. All I know, is that whenever I watch the DVD, I watch it with the numbers backs where they belong. Only time Arthur Freed GOOFED in cutting songs, in my opinion. The reprise is corny and unnecessary (as is the charming "Hayride"), but "Intuition" and "Doagies" should've stayed put. Again, nice work!!!
Well sung by Judy Garland, but clumsily directed, I thought. Plus, Judy seems like she's about to go off the deep end with anger in the beginning scene. And that "ha ha ha" business did not work at all. All in all, pales in comparison to any of her scenes in the previous year's "St. Louis."
Hmm different strokes. I preferred this to Meet me in St. Louis but yeah I’m not sure this song works. The story and the love interests and garland as usual works way better imo though
Judy Garland was so adorably cute in this scene!! And this song should have never been deleted...it's the best one!!

The most beautiful eyes that I have seen in all my life... I love Judy
John Hodiak singing. What a delight. So glad this has been preserved and made accessible. 😊 ❤ 🎉
I've walked along those pathways near Stoney Peak in Chatsworth and Topanga Canyon.
I love John Hodiak. So sad that he passed away so young. :(

Metro should have kept this song in the film. I makes watching the film hard! Missing this song! 🙂

she was so pretty and full of personality, funny, and talented. what a woman
Such a lovely song.
I love Judy Garland!!!!
This song should have been left in the film. It gives more insight and depth to their relationship.

LOVE her!

Poor Judy, so beautiful and talented. I had also read that Angela had a very big crush on John Hodiak during the making of this film....
Wonderful Video!
love seeing it complete like this! makes the film even more enjoyable!
Definitely should have been kept in the movie.
Beautiful 🥰.. didn't know John Hodiak could sing ....Gee......
This was a great movie I've watched way back on AMC

⭐⭐⭐⭐(out of 5) Excellent! ❤❤
Thank you.
How handsome was John Hodiak
Why was this cut out of the final film? It's a good number
Yes - fortunately, the footage survives.
1:39 ha ha ha ha 😂😂😂 she’s so funny
Will "The Harvey Girls" be shown in its entirety anytime on UA-cam?
Not until the copyright runs out. I think in 2046.

I agree. "Doagies" has become one of my all-time favorite songs, and "My Intuition" scene/song is irresistibly charming.
Who decided to cut this lovely song out?! That's senseless!
Is there any other place that I can watch this movie for free 😉
spend a few bucks, cheapskate.
@@ntrainride I'm not a cheapskate I'm a very giving person but UA-cam is already filthy rich why should i make them richer
Any money you pay does not go to UA-cam - it goes to the copyright owners.
Why do I have to pay $2.99 to watch this movie on UA-cam? It's from 1946 for God's sake 😣
Because Disney lobbied (paid) Congress to extend the Copyright Act.
Maria "Skinflint" Defraga.
Its also a classic
