    I'm a Home Depot Flooring Specialist (misleading title, i know) and whenever I get a customer that's hell bent on installing their own floor (the majority being vinyl click lock) and ask me where the best place is to start, I write down the name of Joe's channel, hand it to them and say "right here". No idea how many times I've done that but it's been several times a week for more than 2 years. Definitely one of the best flooring tutors on UA-cam...and a fellow Minnesotan. Keep up the great content.
    By the way, those spacers seem awesome, I wish they were in-stock at my store but I haven't seen them yet.

    I wish I could comment on all your videos. I'm 1000% a newbie at laying flooring-I'm not even good at getting the chain back on my kids' bikes. We needed new flooring for over 2500 sq. feet. the installation quote we got from several folks was astronomical in my opinion. I watched everyone of your videos, invested in the same tools you used, and in a week I finished our house. If I had a question or ran into a problem I found one of your videos-and could figure it out. I wish I could show you the before and after pictures. Thank you for your work and God Bless you!

    I was helping a friend install laminate floor and I can’t tell you how frustrated I was trying to make it work. I simply don’t know how do this calmly. I’ve done my house and it turned out nice, but this particular project put me over the edge. It took so long and nothing was working. After the first day, I was asking God to help me through it because I was so done with doing floors. The second day was much different and went better. They bought the style select floor from Lowe’s and suspect some of the frustration was material related. They simply didn’t have enough income to pay 4$ sq door for vinyl. Not sure why I’m commenting, but I will say that you have a gift. I was reviewing your tool recommendations and I appreciate your prayers at the end.

      @@artkyger3425 this was style select that I had problems with. It was the basic budget laminate. I don’t know the answer, but I strongly suggest making sure the floor is prepared and TAKE YOUR TIME. If you need a break, take it. I was so frustrated and why watching this guy made me mad because you will never see a blooper or a cuss word on UA-cam. Take time to breathe and don’t force anything - that’s the only advice I can give. I have the 1.29 sqft in all my bedrooms and it looks beautiful. I had one style that was harder but worked out and I’m satisfied.

    Easily explained, actually watched the whole thing- I would have my brother-in-law handle it. If it were a painting job, my sister and myself would have done it, if it were just one room, that is. I to have the attention span the size of a gnat! Simply put, I think that this vlog was explained, no bells & whistles…you just get right to the point - in a nice way. I find that refreshing. You weren’t trying to sell anything, you were just telling the viewer what you were going to use next (in my opinion). I find yours so much easier than some of the other vlogs that I have watched. The less stressful that you made it seem, the viewers are much more likely to try this first themselves before hiring someone which will cost them a lot more money…especially now. You made it look easy…way too easy!
    Well done, sir. Well done.

    If you are using a circular saw blade (miter saw, skilsaw, etc) to cut vinyl plank a good saw blade to use is the Diablo Trex blade thats used for cutting Trex composite decking boards. All circular saw blades will cut vinyl plank but most of them will dull very quickly if you aren't using a blade with the correct tooth profile. The blades that have a gem-shaped tooth and have a low-negative hook angle will cut vinyl planking and not go dull. If you put a wood blade on and cut vinyl plank, it seems to do good at first but by the end of the day that blade is ruined. Wood blades have a different shaped tooth and have a positive hook angle and they dont mix well with vinyl planking.

      @morokeiboethia6749 Рік тому +1

      @@dreid4760 All circular saw blades have carbide teeth. The rest of the blade is regular steel. Carbide is certain form of steel that has a higher ratio of carbon and that makes it much more dense. We tried a few different blades cutting vinyl plank and they all cut great at first but by the end of the day you'll notice its chipping the plank a lot. That means it's going dull. We put a Diablo Trex blade on and did not notice any dulling after 3 days. The other blades we tried were all wood cutting blades. All have carbide teeth. The difference in the Trex blade is the shape of the carbide teeth and the angle that the teeth lean (hook angle) relative to the center of the saw blade.

However, we are doing almost 1800 sq ft and there isn’t a completely level spot in the house (double-wide) that I can tell. Are the LVPs that you recommended too rigid for our floor? Would they break? Is there any that would do well for a floor like ours? We are using a floor patch to try to help with this issue and then 1/4 inch underlayment over that but it still will not be completely level.

    We are putting lock type vinyl flooring down in a room. The room contecting to it has carpeting. Question is what do we use to connect the two rooms and look good.

    Thank you sir for the great content. I have installed vinyl plank in entire upstairs of my home. I need to do the downstairs now. A bit intimidating with having to level out the concrete and having transitions to tile. I know I’m watching your videos I can do it. Thanks again.

    I'll use a laser to take some measurements and have a reference line to work with that I mark with chalk from the hallway. laser helps you see what's appeasing. when your first starting out laser helps you see things better

    the best instructions by far! Question - when do you use the lining between the subfloor and the LVP? is it always necessary?

    • @AltruisticWarrior
      @AltruisticWarrior Рік тому

      For wood based LVP, yes. Can get away without it with SPC type over concrete but still wouldn't advise. It's best to have a vapor barrier in between regardless of whether you have wood or concrete subfloor.It's a very affordable component in the flooring install.
