If somwhow you cant see the directory of ansible in /etc/ it may be because the directory was not created automatically during the installation. You can manually create the necessary configuration directory and files. sudo mkdir /etc/ansible and after that you can also create a directory of hosts sudo vim /etc/ansible/hosts rest of the steps are same
Instead of making a new group to update any particular server we can use this command as well • ansible ansibleserver-1 -a "sudo apt-get update -y" (The above command is used to get the stats of 1 server) here -a means adhoc & ansibleserver-1 means the name what we have given in /etc/ansible/hosts (which is also known as Inventory file)
Try doing with superuser permissions sudo vim /etc/ansible/hosts (If you are using Vim Editor) sudo nano /etc/ansible/hosts (If you are using Nano Editor) After you write the code in hosts file, you would need click esc & :wq {to save} Hope this helps. I did not connect from local system but directly launched instance of ansible master from AWS. Saw your other video of Ansible Tutorial where you did directly from instance. All went well but when playbooks are made and I am giving the command "ansible-playbook date_play.yml /home/ubuntu/ansible/hosts --private-key=~/.ssh/ansible-key" it is not running can you help me in this. Also, here we are in Playbooks folder whereas our Inventory file is in another folder then how is playbook communicating with inventory?
