  • We started our day with a short hike to Mount Buller summit before beginning our 4WD trip through the Victorian High Country.
From the top of Mount Buller we took Cornhill Road until we reached Howqua Gap Hut. From here we took Circuit Road up to the summit of Mount Stirling. We parked here and walked to the summit which had incredible views of the surrounding mountain ranges. From here we also walked to Bluff Spur Memorial Hut and GGS Hut which were pretty cool to check out.
Then we continued on Clear Hills Track to Craig's Hut which we had been meaning to check out for ages and it was really good. Such a gorgeous hut with insane views. From there we we descended down to Circuit Road and turned onto Speculation Road and eventually on to King Basin Road. This led us to King Hut which is also a beautiful camping area right by the King River.
We crossed the King River 5 times and Mine Creek once. We drove past Pineapple Flat and turned onto Weston Track which had another scrambly incline. From here we went on to Carters Road before ending up back on the main road at Sawmill Settlement.
It was getting late and we decided to head to Bonnie Doon Hotel for dinner where we had a delicious feed overlooking Lake Eildon.
We had a fun time on our first real 4WD track and are looking forward to more in the future!
    Filmed December, 2020.

Great video. I've hiked and cross country skied extensively in this area. Now to try 4wd.
GGS hut is the Geelong Grammar school hut. It's a welcome shelter when I used to cross country ski.

Another great video, love watching your adventures.
A hike I could recommend for you is to walk from Mt Speculaton to Macalister Springs (Vallejo Gantner hut). This is the Crosscut Saw/Mt Howitt area. Drive to Lake Cobler, continue driving south past the lake, join onto Speculation Track, continue south to the end (rough track but not steep). Park and walk the 1klm up to the AAWT on Mt Speculation. Turn right onto the AAWT and walk across to Macalister Springs, this will take you across the Mt Buggery and crosscut saw, it's about a four hour walk to the hut. As you get to the end of the crosscut saw and approach Mt Howitt take the trail to the left ( look for signpost), it's about 1klm to the hut. There is no water along the route (ridge-line trail) so take at least 2litres each. There is a spring at VJ hut (you walk past it). If there is no-one else camping at the hut sleeping in the loft is a treat. This walk has great views. Map/GPS/Phone is required to navigation, although the trail is easy to follow.. Return back to the car on the same route.. If you want to take a different drive home follow Speculaton track/road across to the Circuit Road (Mt Stirling) then home through Mansfield... Easy road for the mighty Amarok... Anyways, just thought I would suggest this for you... Hope you can keep the videos coming.....
