Update to this theory: A viewer of mine shared a page from the Masterworks Book (also called "Breath of the Wild: Creating a Champion) that completely busts this theory. It confirms that the court poet had NO involvement in the ancient research.
Honestly not too surprised, since this is one of the worst theories I have done. Have a good day, guys!

Quick question, was Kass teacher the person who took the photo that you are rewarded at the end of Champion’s Ballad DLC? In English, it sounded like it was a female person who took the photo, but the photo was found with the notes of Kass’s mentor. So could the mentor just got a copy of the photo due to being part of the court? Like Kass’s mentor wasn’t the one who took the photo right?...Though Link’s name wasn’t called out during the photo shoot so with the whole jealousy thing going on, they could have pretended link wasn’t right next to zelda. Idk. Just curious on how Kass’s mentor got the photo as I doubt anyone could just get a copy of it.

Sorry, I don't buy it. Robbie says in his journal that he "spent so much of his life" researching the guardians (before the calamity), and then he went full-on researcher after the castle fell. There's no way he could also be the full-time court poet, and then eventually Kass's teacher once he was born. He'd have to be, you know, two different people.

However, Robbie is a powerful researcher and a skilled inventor. I cannot fathom a king looking at a highly skilled researcher and going “yeah, but your poetry is just like... more necessary to the kingdom, dawg”
There is zero chance of a full-time, king appointed court poet also being a Guardian researcher, ESPECIALLY leading up to a confrontation that could destroy the world. A court poet would almost need to be skilled exclusively in the arts alone, because any other valuable skill would most likely benefit the kingdom far more than reading poetry to Zelda...

Idk if mine is a good theory or not, but I have a theory about the Blights. They arent just random Malice Creatures, they ARE the Champions, or at least their souls corrupted by Malice. Evidence:
-The Blights use the exact same weapons as the Champions. Wind uses a Projectile, Water uses a Spear, Fire uses a huge Sword, and Thunder has both a Shield and Short Sword.
-At least 3 if them use modified versions of the Champion powers. Windblight creates gales, Fireblight creates a protective sphere, and Thunderblight uses a barrage of lightning that does massive damage.
-You can only hear their voices once inside the Divine Beasts. THEY'RE GHOSTS! Why would they not just leave. King Rhoam traveled from Hyrule Castle to the Plateau, so why did they never leave? Because they got corrupted.
-Unlike every other enemy that isn't a Guardian, their faces are unseen. They wear masks. If anyone knows about Infinite from Sonic, this is a parallel situation. They use masks to change who they once were.
-If the Champions died, where are the bones? Bones don't decay, so with the exceptions of Rudania in extreme heat and Medoh where its windy, where are they?
Things that could disprove, and my response:
-Their spirits were trapped due to the Malice in the Beasts: And yet Rhoam came from Hyrule Castle. The area with the most Malice in the game.
-What about their weapons?: Even if they arent the Blights, no one but Link, Zelda, and the Champions can Access the Divine Beasts.
-What about a "Straight to Ganon" run? Why dont they talk?: They dont talk because you have no memory of them. Remember, each Divine Beast quest has a memory involved. (And no, I dont count getting the memory and then going to Ganon without freeing the Divine Beast. Thats nitpicking.)

    • @astxrriq
      @astxrriq 5 років тому +6

Zerkyran hmm that is true... also Calamity Ganon has (most of) their powers and weapons (what the Blights have) so in your theory, the (corrupted) Champions would also be in Ganon. I like your theory idea but some of it doesn’t make sense; the Champions got defeated by the Blights, and (Calamity) Ganon has most of their powers and weapons

    • @astxrriq
      @astxrriq 5 років тому +4

I agree the Champions would be corrupted, since when you kill the Blight they are like “oh thanks for setting my spirit free” or whatever. But I think that they couldn’t leave the Divine Beasts because they had no body to travel in, unlike King Rhoam. But that could go reverse since a clip of them halfway killing Ganon shows them outside of their Beast ONLY once you set their spirit free. So I’m not sure.. it could go no or yes. If I was a theorist, then I could probably answer this more, but I like where you’re going with this theory

    • @netatsake
      @netatsake 5 років тому +8

Okay so first off, if they were corrupted, then that alone would explain why there were no bones - the corruption needs something physical to latch onto. There is no instance in the entire game of there being corruption that isn't attached to something physical - corrupt growth is never once seen floating, and the closest thing to a 'spirit' corruption we get is the floating skulls that get spawned from corrupt maws.
Secondly, technically speaking, Daruk did not use a sword, but a paddle as a weapon. For that to have been a sword it would have needed a sharp edge, but the boulder breaker really doesn't have a sharp edge - none of the weapons the Goron use do. They're all paddles or drillshafts. And even if they're swung like swords, the edge that would be considered the blade is far too blunted to be considered a sword. The Boulder Breaker in particular is worth mentioning because it has an attachment at the end that very literally turns it into a flat-shafted hammer for all intents and purposes. As well, if Waterblight was a corrupted Mipha, then it would have been given a revival gimmick, which it wasn't.
Thirdly, and back to the bones thing because the first was technically supportive of the theory. If the bones of the champions were left behind, even if they didn't turn to dust over a hundred year span (because yes, bones decay, it is under specific circumstances that they don't) then when the Divine Beasts began moving, then the bones likely would have been shaken out of the beasts while they moved around, especially during the fight sequences that get you entry to them. The beasts are not fully enclosed at all times. They're usually wide open. Mipha's was literally underwater, and as the dam filled up, the water current would have likely washed the bones away. Daruk's was literally climbing the side of a mountain and was sideways, not to mention that his beast was on a volcano, which, um, I dunno if you know this, but VOLCANOES ARE HOT AS HELL. Have you ever seen Goron bones in BotW? Neither have I. So most likely those bones were turned to ash a long time ago. Revali's was flying, and everytime the thing turned, it was likely that their bones would roll off, nevermind getting caught in the air current and being blown out if they were on the inside. And Urbosa's beast was in the middle of a sandstorm that it was kicking up all on its own. Strong wind currents, again, would have blown the bones out.
Fourth and final point - did you forget that when you are first introduced to the Blights while inside of the Divine Beasts, each of the champions mentions that they were DEFEATED by said Blight?

I have a theory of my own. Considering Robbie asks to see Links scars and link wakes up in the shrine of resurrection boarder line naked, meaning someone would have undressed him. If that someone was Robbie and saw his wounds potentially Robbie was checking 1 how they healed 2 if he truly is link based on the same wounds he had when he was placed in the shrine of resurrection.

Not only that but his diary entry also strongly suggested that he had witnessed Link’s fall with his own eyes, adding to the strong guilt he felt.

Super Secret People in Hateno thought Purah was dead because they'd not seen her leave her house in years yet she was fully alive. Kass might never have seen his teacher again after his teacher left. Him being an old man at the time Kass might have assumed that he died from old age or a monster attack in his travels. Unless somewhere he mentioned witnessing him dying or being laid to rest then his teacher could still be alive.

Garnet That's not how conclusions work, though. People thought Purah was dead, but she is not. However, there is no reason Kass would be lying or would he saying something he wasn't able to confirm, and contrary to the case of Purah, there is no canonical confirmation that Kass is wrong. What a character says is canonical unless the same canon proves it's wrong or a lie. That's a rule for every fiction.

Robbie became deranged after spending so long obsessively researching and waiting for Link. He eventually began forgetting or molding his memories, confusing names and acting erratically. My theory: Link was the mentor. He hums when you make food, and he’s got a knack for whistling. There are clearly NO holes in this theory whatsoever, because Link did accompany Zelda, he did die, and he is a sheikah..wait... however... Granté, the son of Robbie and his hylian (?) wife still wears the sheikah garb in Tarrey Town, and I think he’d be considered half-sheikah. So clearly, link’s mother or father COULDVE been sheikah, and raised him in Kakariko (disregarding the theory that the hateno house was Link’s old house because it’s just a theory), so I think that with all that out of the way, it’s pretty clear that Link=Kass’s mentor.

While a lot of the points of this video are very strong, I don't think it forms a cohesive whole very well. Robbie being present for Link's sacrifice makes sense, and one of the two Shiekah men present at the sacrifice being Kass' mentor makes sense, but the evidence as it is presented doesn't lend itself to Robbie being Kass' mentor. It relies too much on presented information being false, such as Cherry being the actual name of Robbie's first love, or Kass's mentor being dead. The theory isn't entirely impossible, but it's more likely that Kass' mentor is one of the unnamed Shiekah rather than being Robbie as part of an obtuse ruse.

I hate to rain on your parade with disagreement but there is one major fatal flaw with this theory. And that's the fact that Kass's mentor was a court poet! While Robbie did write in his journal a lot about the past. There is no evidence to prove that he was ever a court poet. Also, I firmly believe that saying that Kass lied about his mentor's death is a weak excuse, just to grasp at straws as desperation to prove a theory right. While I forgive you for that, as I understand that you must've worked really hard on this theory. But no one would ever lie about the death of someone they cared about.
Also, have you ever considered the possibility that Robbie may have just been another one of Link's close sheikah friends? Remember that there were two sheikah there in that scene. And just because we see sheikah there, doesn't mean that one of them had to be Kass's mentor. For all we know, Kass's mentor could've held back, afraid to confront Zelda. Afterall, we do hear that from Kass, he said that after he watched Link take the fall for Zelda, Impa explained everything to him. So it's clear that he must of avoid contact with Zelda and went to talk to Impa about everything instead. which makes more sense for someone who loved the same girl as Link.
Usually the Jealous person is always trying to avoid contact after witnessing something like what Link and Zelda did. Also, the Japanese name for the place being the same as the robot and Robbie's first love is just a coincidence cause the English name is different. And lastly, I personally always liked the idea that Kass's mentor was actually Misko. Which makes more sense since he stole things from the Royal Family, likely because he was upset that he wasn't chosen as a champion, that Zelda chose Link over him, and even Rhoam wouldn't let him have Zelda's hand in marriage. But of course, he likely stole from castle before everything went array and witnessed what happened to Link and Zelda.
Feeling guilt and regret, he decided to atone for sins. Which is why he devoted his time writing journals to help Link find the items that he stole, adventuring to seek out more ways to help Link, mentored Kass so that his legacy would be helpful to Link, and even taught Kass songs to help Link solve the riddles to the trials. This, in my opinion anyways, seems to make more sense to me then your theory. I respect your theory. I understand you worked on this. But I just think differently.
You should make a video on who Link's father was. I'm curious to see what you'll come up with.

The only Sheikah mentioned in Zelda's journal were Robbie, Purah, and Impa: yet Kass' teacher-the court poet-was said to have accompanied Link and Zelda on their excavations and adventures. So why isn't this figure mentioned?
As for Kass…that is a fair point. He has no real reason to lie per se, but he did keep it secret that he knew who Link was the entire time, up until he revealed the truth with a song in Rito Village. So if he's been dishonest and not forthcoming before, it isn't outside of the realm of possibility that he's doing so again for some as-of-yet unknown reason.

"The only Sheikah mentioned in Zelda's journal were Robbie, Purah, and Impa: yet Kass' teacher-the court poet-was said to have accompanied Link and Zelda on their excavations and adventures. So why isn't this figure mentioned?"
Well, we all know for a FACT that Robbie is NOT a court poet, so he can't be Kass's mentor! Also, there's a chance/possibility that the pages that are available to read in Zelda's journal are not all the pages. Which could've been done intentionally and on purpose cause Nintendo probably doesn't want us to know much about Kass's Mentor right now. For all we know, he could be a completely different character who's not even seen in the game (yet). All I know for sure is that it's definitely NOT Robbie! That would make absolutely NO sense based on what is known about Kass's mentor! So far, the only logical candidate is Misko, in my opinion.
Just the way Misko writes, is clear traits of someone who be a good a COURT POET! He writes in the same kind of riddle as how Kass sings his songs. PERFECT MATCH! At least for now anyways.
"As for Kass…that is a fair point. If this ended being the case, then that would be repetitive and stupid! Having him lie, then admit the truth, followed by another lie, would not make any sense at all! Kass's mentor is DEAD! And Robbie is STILL ALIVE! So it's NOT him! It's FACT! Capiche?!

Honestly, at first it was just a random thought I had one day. We know that both Purah and Robbie put Link in the Shrine of Resurrection, and the teacher witnessed this event. But going by elimination, it would have to be Robbie. What got me interested though was the connection of him to music, as we hear the electric guitar and screams of fans. I was at a dead end after that though. But when I found out that Link fell on "Black Cherry Plain" suddenly I got excited. I researched more, and found more connections that linked the 2 together (in more ways than one, pun definitely intended).

Mhhh... this is the most dissapointing theory yet, I mean it's an entertaining video but Robbie never knew about music, not once, he was a Guardian nerd and studied them all of his life, he wouldn't have time for music. Besides his dialogue doesn't agree neither, if he was a poet it'd be noticed on his dialogue.
There's 2 MALE sheikahs who see the fall of Link, the one who shouted "Princess!" is Kass' Master since he'd be worried about her rather than Link. After taking him to the resurrection chamber he never saw Zelda again, he then studied the ruins and folklore all of his life and discovered the solution to several shrines, however he was unable to live long enough to pass this vital information so his pupil Kass was the one who passed down his knowledge in the form of songs... Robbie just felt sad because he studied the guardians rather than building weapons and technology based on them and he kept studying the guardians afterwards.

    • @SaraAdrian
      @SaraAdrian 6 років тому +18

I agree. Robbie shows no musical talent or inclinations towards poetry, he's clearly a scientist and was before the Calamity (he was working at the ancient tech lab north of the castle when it fell, pretty sure he mentions this).
Also there's no reason for Zelda or anyone else to mention members of the court like the court poet. There are clearly other characters that were involved (a recipe you can find refers to a scheming member of the court). Finding and opening shrines wasn't top on the priority list since they couldn't help in defense so if anything it would have been a minor quest, not anything Zelda, Robbie, Purah, or Impa would have focused on.
Besides Robbie is short as hell, he wasn't either of the two Sheikah that was present when Link fell.
And there's no reason for Kass to lie about his master being dead. The only reason he didn't reveal he knew who Link was is because he knew Link wouldn't remember, but after that questline is completed there's no reason to keep his master's death a secret. If the game developers had planned this they would have left us this easter egg, but they didn't because Kass's teacher isn't some poet-scientist-inventor guy key to all the things.
Not everything has to have a deeper level.

And even that is explainable by the fact that his childhood friend Purah also makes up similar poses to look cool, and they probably try to one-up each other.
I don't think the court poet would be one of Zelda's guards in the first place, but perhaps you've 'hit the right note', so to say...
Kass only says that his mentor went on the expeditions to the shrines with Zelda, not that he was present when Link fell at Fort Hateno. If this person was shown anywhere in the game, it would be in the memories where Link and Zelda were examining the Sheikah machinery and shrines.
This does bring up another potential theory though - could the Sheikah guard that gave that glare at Link have been a Yiga Clan spy giving away the position of the Princess and her Champion for the Guardians and monsters to hunt down?

I actually really like this theory a lot.
It's funny so many people here are commenting about how it's unlikely one man could be a royal poet, a musician, and an expert in sheikah technology in the loz universe, when we have real life figures as that not only in real history, such as Da Vinci...but also in the actual game. Link is a character that can do an INSANE number of things: he can cook, he can snowboard and best one of the best boarders in the game, he is the greatest fighter, he can fly really well, he can swim and was also a token love of Mipha's while ALSO gaining the affection of the princess, he traveled and used many different technologies himself. He is skilled in disguises and sneaking into villages, and is also an expert horse rider.
If anything, it would make COMPLETE sense that there was another guy who was like Link and competed with Link for not only Zelda's affection, but to become a royal knight fo rher. And on top of that, probably knew Zelda longer than Link did, as this Shiekah was part of the Sheikah tribe and a royal poet for the family and was her age.
Also, just as a side note, the facial structure of the sheikah looking at Zelda looks REALLY similar to Robbie. They both have square jaws and tanned skin.
Also I don't think its a stretch that Kass would lie to Link at all about a false death of his teacher. He was already not honest about knowing who Link was.
Seriously, if he loved his teacher, and his teacher asked him to please not reveal his identity, and say he has passed, why would he owe anyone that information? Who would he rather honor? Link, or his teacher who he adores? I think you can also think of it as, who his teacher used to be, is dead, but now he is a different man, no longer the teacher he used to be.
Anyway I really enjoyed this video, it was really good. I especially liked the part about Robbie requesting to see Link's battle scars. That was for me, a potentially really good piece of evidence to your theory.

@@ShootistFN lol Yes. You make it sound like a court poet is working a desk job from 9-5. A job such as that doesn't need to be working constantly. They're probably called for when needed or required, requested of a service and then dismissed. Sometimes they weren't needed at all. They're probably only needed for like..an hour, maybe two at most. They're entertainers and most court entertainers were called for breifly. That then leaves a ton of free time that he totally could have used to do anything else he enjoyed. There are many cases of doctors and scientists who were also artists. M.C. Escher is a famous one of many. Osamu Tezuka, the creator of anime had a PHD and doctorate. And he probably had even less time, but he found time. Humans are capable of a great many things and I think the video game culture isn't used to seeing remarkable npcs.

Remarkably wrong in the same way that Nintendo basically had to force a bunch of disjointed Zelda games to "appear to be 'Linked'" together in order to not disappoint fans... so that they could keep making more money off the franchise; and even to go as far as to claim that this game (BotW) happened "much much later" than the rest of the games in the Hyrule Historia timeline.
They screwed up the minute they made Majora's Mask and told people, "this is a parallel universe created by an anomaly Link created when he pulled the Master Sword out of the ToT." And now, here we are.............. what a mess.

It's an interesting theory but you are reading a lot of things way out of context in an attempt to make the puzzle pieces fit. I doubt Robbie is the person you seek. Much of your evidence contradicts itself, with the best possible clue you have being tenuously weak at best (Ie the stove named Cherry and the Black Cherry Plain). It's a grasping at straws clue, if I were to be honest.
Even the journal entry you use, Robbie is writing it in the remorse of someone who didn't have the technology available for Link to use to save his life, not in the voice of someone who was jealous of a man having the love of Zelda. What he blames himself for and is remorseful about is not having anything ready to help Link fight and to save his life. And the reason Robbie makes Link show him his scars to to prove he is Link. I don't understand how that is misunderstood, Robbie even makes that clear.

I think you're right about Cherry being an alias, but I don't think it was Zelda. Given the evidence presented in your theory, I now believe that the real identity of "Cherry" is... Link! That's right, not only was Robbie lying about his first love's name, but "her" gender, too. Ignoring any Hyrule taboos, it would be even more awkward to let your second love know that your first love was the opposite gender, never mind being the Legendary Hero.
And now stripping for Robbie on replays will be even more creepy than it already was. You're welcome.

The theorist hinted at this further by playing "Memory" as he read from Robbie's writing about Link. If you're unfamiliar with Super Paper Mario, that's a song reserved for the bittersweet, war-torn, one-was-nearly-killed-and-the-other-was-wrecked-by-grief pairing of Timpani and Blumiere. Timpani may not be the player character, but she is the protagonist of SPM's story. I don't know why the theorist would make such parallels, but I must wonder if it was an accident or not...

Sheika are basically ninjas, Ninjas have been know to fake their deaths. Ninja's were so good at it that it was rumored that you could even stand over the body and not tell that they are faking it. Also, ninja's were really good at aliases. Kass could have been talking to Robbie that is disguised at the time and that cover was blown so he stopped using it, faking the death so there would be no questions later.

One of the majors plotholes I see (apart from the master suposedly being dead) is that I don't understand why a poet of the royal court would be assisting in a battle. Maybe they were so desesperate that they used all men they had available, but that soldier has a pretty strong build to be a servant of the royal family. He regretted that hed failed Link in that in spite of all his effort, theres no implication that he regretted how hed looked down on Link before seeing him fall, you know?

The primary problems with the theory are trying to say he named the Ancient Oven after a location instead of something that can more directly relate to Zelda. Besides, he had no reason to hide his feelings, when you consider that Zelda is a thot trying to steal Mipha's Husbando. Link and Mipha could be likened to Lovers. The armor she made for him is made purely for their(a Zora Princess') fiance. I mean seriously, Link must have reciprocated these feelings, considering how its mentioned they were damn near inseparable growing up.

Mostly a ridiculous theory, simply from a fact that robby is a scientist who was working on ancient gear and ancient arrows for all the time link was resurrecting. Kass' teacher was a musician who died FEW YEARS PRIOR. Means there was no way robby could spend this much time teaching music. Mostly it is just easier to read the official nintendo BOTW books. 1. There is no connection between "Cherry" and Zelda (Kass's master love interest) even if you assume it is a reference to the place where linked died.. That doesn't explain why Robbie would say it was named "after his first love" (which you are assuming is Zelda).. Surely, if it was named after the place where linked "died" he would say something along the lines of "I named it after my greatest regret"
      2. Robbie spent his life after the fall of Hyrule in one location researching guardians and preparing for the return of the hero. Will Kass's master spent his life travelling the world researching ancient songs in preparation for the return of the hero.
      3. Kass's master is dead.. You're explanation really wasn't convincing as comes across as trying to force facts to fit your theories instead of allowing the facts to shape the theory..

We know that Impa had talked to him and he set off in search of the songs, and since his role was as important as the other members of the tribe I find it unlikely that he wouldn't be mentioned. As far as the theory goes, I'll still believe it until Nintendo says otherwise.

Not someone the main characters would remember or care that much for.. Remember, Kass only said his master saw what happened to Link as "he fled the castle".. He didn’t say anything about him fighting in the battle.. I don't know, but the way he was jealous of Link kinda made me feel he must not be a front line warior guy.

Okay okay I know Kass said his teacher was dead, but Purah made anti-aging elixirs to make her younger, so why shouldn’t Robbie use them too? Also, Robbie felt remorse for not giving link the proper gear and weapons to fight guardians, and what does Robbie sell to Link? Ancient arrows (kill some guardians with one hit) and ancient gear (extra defense against guardians. He also sells some guardian parts. I think this is because he’s trying to prepare Link for the adventure ahead, and hope that his gear and weapons are stronger than they were a hundred years ago. This probably isn’t true, but it’s possible
