Thanks for the tips, I will try them in future events. I would add that when you invite someone, send them an invitation. My last event, after inviting people to the event, I messaged them individually, and sent them an invitation I made with Google Docs. I got some good feedback on that, and no angry messages. For the next event, I think I'll send the invite first, and then invite them through the event.
Nice! I usually send a Facebook message before inviting people to Facebook Events because I know people can get WAY to many invites. I like to think it's saying, "Hey, I didn't just click 'invite' to everyone on my friends list. I thought you might actually enjoy this event."
Such Good Info! I'm literally wondering why youtube is full of amateur talking heads who ramble for 20 minutes without getting to the thing they advertised in the click-bait description. Good tips on events. Trying to squeeze the most value out of events and everything helps. Has anyone found that posting IN the event seems to not have as much reach? Maybe only people that put "interested" or "going" are the only people who see those post. Any tips there?
That's correct Andrew. Only people who have marked themselves as "Interested" or "Going" will be notified when you post in the event. That's why it's so important to get as many people "in" the Facebook event as soon as you can - then it almost works as it's own Facebook page. Sometimes when I have a limited budget, I'll spend it early to get people IN the Facebook Event first. Another thing I've been doing is to actually put something in the post caption like, "Mark yourself as 'Interested' or 'Going' so we can keep you up to date." It works best if there are unannounced details you can tease them with. You could also say, "Mark yourself as 'Interested' because we'll be giving away ______ inside the event!"
Great tips! Do these tips still work in 2019? I ask because every marketer keeps talking ads. I’ve done the ads and while impressions were high, I’ve never sold a ticket via social media marketing

Hey Faith! I've been testing this feature and always get an error. But I think they're trying to set it up so your Facebook Event can be a scheduled Facebook Live (which will be awesome)!
Great info. I made an event where people could only reply bij pressing on the "interested" box! How do I reply back to thiese people, they are not friends. The event is from a page so if I ask them to be friends first before I can ask them to confirm if they are really coming, they wont know who I am to be friends with. Is there a way to contact these people? Thx
Can you add an item on the calendar with inviting? For example, I want to put trash day on the calendar but I dont want to put going interested on it, or just putting a holiday on the calendar.
You can hide the guest list for an event, but I don't think you can create an event without people being able to engage with it. Make an event for trash day - maybe someone else will sign up to put your cans out! 😀
Thanks for your question! Unfortunately, Jerry Potter can’t get to all of them, but if you still need an answer feel free to post it in our free Facebook Community: facebook.com/groups/fiveminutesocialmedia/
Nice video. Quick question, We host weekly events every night of the week. Is it better to create ONE event with multiple dates, or DUPLICATE events each week of the same event?
Hey Steve! The upside of creating one event with multiple dates is once someone has marked themselves as 'Interested' they'll get notified when you post in the event. However, in my experience we get way better reach by creating new events each time. You might experiment both ways, perhaps for a month each.
Thanks for the information Jerry! I got an issue, could you kindly help me? We run events online and post events in different countires but we are having issues with the time zone. People see our local time and they assume its their local time so they show up on the wrong date and wrong time. Do you know how to fix it Jerry?
Hey, unfortunately, Jerry Potter can’t get to all of the questions but if you still need an answer you’re welcome to post it in our free Facebook Community: facebook.com/groups/fiveminutesocialmedia/
Someone else asked me this just the other day - great question. Facebook events do benefit from momentum. For example, as people are marking themselves as Interested or Going, that helps the event in Facebook's algorithm, leading them to suggest it to more people. Theoretically if you launch an event really early you might get a bunch of people on it right away, then there might be a lull. My suggestion - Create the event as early as you would announce it anywhere else and try and get people into it. Then you can treat the event like it is its own Facebook page by posting in it once or week. Assuming attendees engage with your posts, the algorithm will continue to favor the event.
at 2:20 what do you mean only do this with sponsors I trust? Why would I partner with an organization i don't trust? And what would they potentially do with the event ad that makes them untrustworthy? thanks!
Hey Daniel! Would you trust every sponsor with full access to your Facebook event? I wouldn't. People take on paid sponsors all the time for the money, but they wouldn't give them access to EVERYTHING. They could start posting on the wall of the event 27 times a day plugging their own stuff, annoying your guests. The could change the description or the image, perhaps subtly where you didn't notice. There's just no reason to give all your sponsors access - they can share the event without being a co-host.
Thanks for the great video! Facebook now has interested or going & I'm totally confused because it's only giving the option interested. Do you have any insight or advice?
Hey LeVelle - Glad the video was helpful! Is your event a multi-date event? If so, people can't mark themselves as 'Going' to all of them at once, only as 'Interested.' If they click on the individual dates, they can mark themselves as going.
I'm trying to go live on my cell on my page. I then want to copy and paste the link to that video on my laptop so my live video is also playing live in the event at the same time. Directions I was given are not working :/

Hi, thanks for all your helpful tips. I am an independent distributor advertising in my own Facebook group and sometimes on my personal Facebook or my story a little bit. This will be my first ever event and I intend to do it just in my group for the first time rather than on a large scale. Can you point me in the direction of some tips that would apply to this type of small scale first-time event please? My group is not open to public so I can see that it limits me more but it is only for me to be advertising the products I distribute as opposed to many people advertising second hand or unwanted items. Many Thanks 🙂
Many of the same tips in this video will work. Depending on the size of your group you might be able to invite everyone in the group automatically too. Best of luck!
Great tips, but it seems that in just 1 year FB has changed things...The event for has been shortened and I cannot choose to have the event re-occur, nor could I choose the venue it is at as a co-host... nor could I post a link for tickets...I MUST be doing something wrong :(
Hi Kimberly! Hard to believe this video is almost 2 years old now, but the tips still work. You can choose to have a recurring event but it has to be done from a business page: facebook.com/help/479704465721993?helpref=faq_content The venue can be a co-host as long as they have a business page, but not if they are just a location. And you can post a link for tickets, although this might also have to be from a business page. Are you trying to do this on a personal page?

Hi maybe you can answer this question that has been driving me crazy when I am trying to promote my bootcamp workout event on facebook. When I create a public event eveyone only sees "interested" and noone can find "going" to join the event. This is frustrating to have 10 people interested but not going when they want to but can't . Please help me! Thanks !
Here is my current event so you can see. Someone help thanks ! facebook.com/events/305750243305842/?acontext=%7B%22action_history%22%3A[%7B%22surface%22%3A%22dashboard%22%2C%22mechanism%22%3A%22calendar_tab_event%22%2C%22extra_data%22%3A%22[]%22%7D]%2C%22ref%22%3A1%2C%22source%22%3A2%7D
Thank you for sharing the link! This is the first I've seen this, but a quick Google search has shown that it has been going on for a few years. Unfortunately no one has an explanation. Facebook often tests things with certain pages before changing them everywhere, so you could be lumped in with a test group. When browsing the Events page on my personal profile, I noticed that events I've been invited to have "Interested" and "Going" as an option, but events being shown to me because they are in my area just have "Interested." So if you can, you might try inviting people to your event and maybe they get the "Going" option? Overall, Facebook Events have never been great for getting an accurate RSVP count. 😕 Good luck with your event!
Someone else posted about this same issue today on another one of my videos and figured it out! Because your event has multiple dates, people have to click on a specific date. Then they can choose Going/interested/Not Interested. It doesn't allow you to say you are going to all the dates at once.
I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but if you post in your event, it won't show up in your page's News Feed - It's not a page post, it's an event post. It will show up under Discussion in your event.
thank you for these tips ,) helpful. I have a question. I created a business FB page. I created an event and posted it. I would like to invite and share with other FB groups I am a part of. I am having trouble with this. Does FB business page operate differently than a personal page? Thanks for your help Jerry ! Michele
Hey Michele! There are lots of differences between personal and business pages. With Business Page Events you can only invite your personal friends to the event. You should be able to share it into groups you are in too.
@@mrjerrypotter i created a public event on facebook, but the post in discussion section had only reacts button and comment button, there was no share button to share the posts that people put in the event discussion section, i sent the problem to the fb support team and they fixed it. thanks mate, i appreciate your efforts. wish u best of luck
Hey Miriam! Are you trying to make it the main event photo? I don't believe GIFs are supported for that, only images and videos. If you have a way to convert it to a video file that might work. You can post the GIF as a post or a comment within the event itself though.
Hi My running group posts Events coming up of races, from their Android phone. Problem is a lot of the events don’t appear to the people with an Apple phone. Any suggestions please?

In my case I am thinking of creating an event where I'll be giving marketing tips to the hospitality sector via Facebook Live. I don't have anyone from that sector on my Facebook Business page to announce this event and if push comes to shove, I'll consider boosting the post. Are there any other ways I can promote this event?
Is this a one time event? Boosting is great - Most Facebook Live views come later. You can schedule Facebook Lives with some third party software like BeLive.tv and OBS. If you did that, you could send out the link to people, post it in groups, etc. Let me know what you decide to do - I'd love to see it. 😀
@@mrjerrypotter Thanks for the response. No it will be a weekly Facebook Live not a one time event. I don't have a Facebook Group at the moment but was hoping to use my Facebook Business Page to do these weekly lives. Thank you for the recommendation in using BeLive.TV and OBS. I have heard of both but not used it as such.
For a weekly Facebook Live, consistency is key. And it sounds like being able to pre-promote them (with compelling topics) would be helpful for you. Rumor is Facebook is developing a whole studio tool for Facebook Live where you can schedule broadcasts and more. I hope they do!

Hey Steve! The upside of creating one event with multiple dates is once someone has marked themselves as 'Interested' they'll get notified when you post in the event. However, in my experience we get way better reach by creating new events each time. You might experiment both ways, perhaps for a month each.
Did,done, and commented.
Thanks Abraham!
Thanks for the information Jerry! I got an issue, could you kindly help me? We run events online and post events in different countires but we are having issues with the time zone. People see our local time and they assume its their local time so they show up on the wrong date and wrong time. Do you know how to fix it Jerry?
Replied to your comment on the other video you left it. Thanks for watching Martin!
How do i turn on check in to my event
I don't think there is anything to turn on. People can check in if they are near the location of the event on the day that it happens.
Hello! Is there an easy way to see all of the people that DID share my event? I'm not seeing it on the Insights page. Thank you!

Thank you for this. You’ve enlightened me on a couple of those tips. Thank you! One question though, is it ever too early to create a Facebook event?
Someone else asked me this just the other day - great question. Facebook events do benefit from momentum. For example, as people are marking themselves as Interested or Going, that helps the event in Facebook's algorithm, leading them to suggest it to more people. Theoretically if you launch an event really early you might get a bunch of people on it right away, then there might be a lull.
My suggestion - Create the event as early as you would announce it anywhere else and try and get people into it. Then you can treat the event like it is its own Facebook page by posting in it once or week. Assuming attendees engage with your posts, the algorithm will continue to favor the event.
These tips are great- can you help me with learning how to link a group to an event from our page?
at 2:20 what do you mean only do this with sponsors I trust?
Gotcha It makes sense now!!!!
I'm trying to go live on my cell on my page. I then want to copy and paste the link to that video on my laptop so my live video is also playing live in the event at the same time. Directions I was given are not working :/
How do you change a FB event date/time after it's been published, it's won't let me but is showing a red circle with a bar through it?

Nowadays I´m creating my event on facebook, but there is no option to invite my friends. Is there any changes that I can do to go back to invite my friends again? simply doesn´t have an option to invite anymore.. only share.. just because Im the owner of the event. So wierd.

@@mrjerrypotter thanks so much for your reply

Great tips, but it seems that in just 1 year FB has changed things...The event for has been shortened and I cannot choose to have the event re-occur, nor could I choose the venue it is at as a co-host... nor could I post a link for tickets...I MUST be doing something wrong :(
Hi Kimberly! Hard to believe this video is almost 2 years old now, but the tips still work. You can choose to have a recurring event but it has to be done from a business page: facebook.com/help/479704465721993?helpref=faq_content
The venue can be a co-host as long as they have a business page, but not if they are just a location.
And you can post a link for tickets, although this might also have to be from a business page. Are you trying to do this on a personal page?
I do not get a BOOST event button on my host page. Why?

Good luck with your event!
Five Minute Social Media thank you for your quick response! I appreciate your feedback. 👍
Anytime!
Someone else posted about this same issue today on another one of my videos and figured it out! Because your event has multiple dates, people have to click on a specific date. Then they can choose Going/interested/Not Interested. It doesn't allow you to say you are going to all the dates at once.
you have a resemblance with Lionel Richie, by the way. I love the info. well done.
Ha, too funny. Got to have lunch with him once.
Why doesn't my event have a share button option?? How do I get it?
Can you share a link to the event?
Tip#9 When I post in my event I do not see the post it use to put up in my news feed. Now it doesn't do anything.
You should be able to share it into groups you are in too.
hi bro , i want to add share button the discussion posts in my events but i dont know how.
any help please ?
I'm not sure I understand your question Ahmed, can you be more specific?
@@mrjerrypotter
i created a public event on facebook, but the post in discussion section had only reacts button and comment button, there was no share button to share the posts that people put in the event discussion section, i sent the problem to the fb support team and they fixed it.
thanks mate, i appreciate your efforts.
wish u best of luck
Glad to hear you got it resolved!
Thank you! Found it very interesting and will try it out soon!
You're welcome!
How do i post a gif in a facebook event which i created for an account (not my private timeline)? it doesnt show as nice as in my private page :(
Hey Miriam! Are you trying to make it the main event photo? I don't believe GIFs are supported for that, only images and videos. If you have a way to convert it to a video file that might work.
You can post the GIF as a post or a comment within the event itself though.
Does anyone know how to get an event featured on a FB group page?
Hi
My running group posts Events coming up of races, from their Android phone. Problem is a lot of the events don’t appear to the people with an Apple phone.
Any suggestions please?
There is no logical reason for that to happen. When you say "posts events," can you specific exactly what they are doing?
Hi and thanks for replying. The posts aren't showing up on people's iPhones only Android phones.
Can you share a link one of the events here?
It's not letting me invite friends. Do you know know what to do with new changes?

@@mrjerrypotter Thank you for the advice. I'll keep looking for facebook latest release. I am sure it will help all of us.
But how do one invite friends? The button is not even there.

Great!
If the event is a paid event, does facebook take a cut too? I assume eventbrite takes their 3%...?!
Facebook doesn't take a cut - The transaction still goes through Eventbrite, and of course they'll take whatever they normally do for paid events.
