Ron Hruska instructs a patient on how to perform the 90-90 Hip Lift with Balloon exercise technique. The course where this exercise is taught: www.posturalrestoration.com/p...
I was getting weakness in my right leg, I play golf and I'm sure that due to all the rotation of my waist and upper body it is related to this problem. I went and saw a physical therapist who stated that my shoulders and hips were out of alignment and that this cause causing pressure on the nerve in my right leg. He showed me this exercise and I noticed a big difference in about 3 days. It completely went away and it came back years later and I did the same exercise and it went away. It is crazy but it works.

We would recommend getting checked out by one of our providers to see if this would be a good exercise for you www.posturalrestoration.com/find-provider
Just a question for you, why the right chest wall? I have both ribs that are flaring (obv left a little more) but both ribs are up. Can it not simply be more of an imbalance between stronger extensor muscles of the back opposed to weaker deeper ab muscles that cause the breathing patterns to change? Thanks!
I’ve been doing the 90/90 hip shift (without the balloon) for the last 5 months daily. Lately I’ve been experiencing new onset bilateral knee pain. Should I be having knee pain performing this exercise and am I doing something wrong? My PRI provider and I are stumped.
Is there information some where on why this works?? Also, in between breaths are you supposed to resist the pressure in the balloon when you hold for 4 seconds or do you squeeze it off in between the breaths.. Thanks!
Dan Mahar Here is an article on the balloon part of the exercise www.posturalrestoration.com/resources/dyn/files/1061744zb974c270/_fn/The_Value_of_Blowing_Up_a_Balloon.pdf the other parts is trying to get the patient out of a L AIC position, you should resist the pressure in the balloon.
My PR PT has me continue pushing air out of my lungs for the long count. She said not to hold the balloon shut with teeth or tongue. She has me pushing air out of my lungs and I can feel my left lower back area activate.
It is a repositioning technique to help open up the right chest wall and get a ZOA. It is discussed in detail in www.posturalrestoration.com/programs-courses/introductory-courses/postural-respiration
If you mean like "kegel like" engage, no, you shouldn't feel this engagement in the pelvic floor, but rather you should feel your hamstrings (back of your thighs), and adductors (inner thighs), along with abdominals. If you feel a lot of pressure in the pelvic floor when blowing up the balloon, we would not advise blowing up a balloon.
@@posturalrestoration *pls help* I've been practicing this and i recently realized that my calves are shut off. I realise that as soon as i engage my right calf it cramps up and i can control if I'm about to make it cramp if i just exert a little more force in my calf (i realized the same for my left too, but that cramp is harder to find on my left leg. I suspect that it's more uncontrolled and my body knows that as soon as i exert force on the muscle it will cramp uncontrollably). I'm currently practicing just engaging my calf until it cramps up and maybe eventually it wont cramp anymore. May i know what this potentially signifies, if what im doing is okay what i can do? I suspect that im patho pec and i understand that it can be hard to know what's wrong for sure.
Hi Christian, It can help bring the pelvis back into a more "neutral" position from an anterior tilted position. If you are looking to get treated I would recommend checking out our find a provider page www.posturalrestoration.com/find-provider . Let me know if you have any other questions.
You want to inhale through your nose, but don't try to close your throat. Just make sure you are not inhaling through your mouth and throat, and if you keep your tongue up on the roof of your mount pinching off the balloon, it is nearly impossible to breath in through your mouth.
@@Nothingiseasy999 I am continuing to do it. I don't do it nearly as much as I had. I believe I am retraining my body. It takes time. For me personally, I did the exercises a few times a day and now I do them a couple times a week. Just depends on how my hips, diaphragm, ribs are doing. For example, if I have to sit for an extended period for travel I do the exercises more. I try to listen to my body. I began PRI a little over five years ago.
Feel bad for the people who find PRI from videos like this and get hooked on spending thousands of dollars like I did. It’s always one more session every time you see a pri trainer and then it’s you need glasses and a splint and orthotics. I’ve done it all and over two years the only thing that changed is the money in my bank account. See a real doctor people
This exercise has helped me tremendously. If you don't have a balloon, you can use a straw.

Why when I'm inhaling doing the 90=90 i feel pain in my left ribcage?
Hello, is this appropriate for pelvic organ prolapse or diastasis recti?
We would recommend getting checked out by one of our providers to see if this would be a good exercise for you www.posturalrestoration.com/find-provider

I would recommend going to see one of our providers www.posturalrestoration.com/find-provider but it is because of the asymmetry in the human body.
You good?

did you notice a difference after 5 months or were you still waiting?

Hello
Does this exercise works well for tight diaphragm and stiff ribb cage?
Yes, it works for me. Also look up diaphragm and Conor Harris
Hi, when i pull down my heels i feel my hamstrings well but after the exercise my knees hurt every time, how to prevent that
My PT has me hold a ball about the size of a cantaloupe between my knees.
What is this technique used for?
It is a repositioning technique to help open up the right chest wall and get a ZOA. It is discussed in detail in www.posturalrestoration.com/programs-courses/introductory-courses/postural-respiration

when you exchale and drive the ribs down, should your belly still be soft? or should there be abdominal tension there?
+Josh Wasserman You want to be feeling more IOs/TAs than Rectus abdominus, it shouldn't be rock solid
awesome video. How often should I do that?
Are you Indian? Can you share your insta id
My PT says as many times a day as I can or five. Ido it once a day.
Why the jelly belly and how come no ball between knees ??

Will this work for anterior pelvic tilt??
Hi Christian, It can help bring the pelvis back into a more "neutral" position from an anterior tilted position. If you are looking to get treated I would recommend checking out our find a provider page www.posturalrestoration.com/find-provider . Let me know if you have any other questions.
Do you ever do the other side?
It depends on which pattern the person is stuck in. Most individuals will have a difficult time breathing into their right chest.
+aaransom how is that? :)
No, mostly this exercise aims to open right side
da man
PRI should I close my throat while inhaling into my nose??.
Difficult one
You want to inhale through your nose, but don't try to close your throat. Just make sure you are not inhaling through your mouth and throat, and if you keep your tongue up on the roof of your mount pinching off the balloon, it is nearly impossible to breath in through your mouth.

It is. But if you keep practicing, it gets easier.
It works so well for almost any issue. It sounds weird at first, but very simple in practice.
