- Walking in Parramatta City Centre from train station to Parramatta River via Church Street, Parramatta NSW, Sydney Australia.
Parramatta is a major commercial suburb of the City of Parramatta, in Greater Sydney which is located in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located approximately 23 kilometres (14 mi) west of the Sydney central business district on the banks of the Parramatta River. Parramatta is the administrative seat of the City of Parramatta and is often regarded as commercial centre for both the Greater Parramatta region as well as the broader Greater Western Sydney region.
Parramatta is a major business and commercial centre and home to Westfield Parramatta, the tenth largest shopping centre in Australia. Parramatta is also the major transport hub for Western Sydney, servicing trains and buses, as well as having a ferry wharf and future light rail and metro services. Major upgrades have occurred around Parramatta railway station with the creation of a new transport interchange, and the ongoing development of the Parramatta Square local government precinct.

Love this; I was born in Parramatta in 1971; I lived in Western Sydney for 25 years; (moved to Queensland, now I live in Adelaide) interesting how Parramatta has changed through the years. I am planning to visit next year for my 50th birthday.

I lived briefly in Parramatta in 1995. It had certainly a cool vibe then.
The whole place looks like a building site. Might have been better to wait until it is finished. The square near the church and the river area looked very pleasant places to spend some time.
Second oldest settlement in Australia - please preserve its heritage!!!!
There are heritage listings in Parramatta, it can look kinda strange when there’s an old house surrounded by modern skyscrapers.

I just came away from Sydney and I used to live in the premises of PARRAMATTA.
I definitely miss this place and I badly wanna go bac soon ... I hope some day I get the chance to stay there again. 😞

🍎 so timely. I just started reading the Fatal Shore about the beginnings of European Australia and I have never heard of Parramatta before and yet it’s in this book. Glad to be able to get a view of what it looks like today. - H
Parramatta was actually where the person who introduced sheep farming into Australia lived....John Macarthur at Elizabeth Farm.
The colony would have starved if it was not for Parramatta and surrounds it was named in April 1788 just a few months after the first fleet arrived it was the second settlement with rich farmland at Rose Hill .

I started my working career in Parramatta in 1963 at the Commercial Bank of Australia, now Westpac...the building was near the post office in the mall if I remember correctly...lot of water under the bridge since then ..

@@Glenn-ei3xp I live here about and Parramatta is a lot more busier then this, but that’s ok I don’t mind being told. No dot no spot gave it away. At the bus terminal and the amount of people there too.

What about The heritage listed Parramatta Lake? The beautiful riverside cycle paths, historic colonial sites like 18th-century
Old government house, Riverside theatres, Parramatta ferry wharf etc.
