Why is there not a bluetooth or wifi way to use cerbo to better control the victron 3k inverter/charger. Features like ignore AC, when to start charging battery, etc.
@@joeboxter3635 The only reason that comes to mind is that Victron might be geared more towards the installer market vs the DIY so they're trying to limit what a non solar/non technical person can do to mess up their installation. I wish they did have a lot more control from the Cerbo. I wouldn't have to find my own "hacks" in order to get certain things (like controlling the AC IN) to work.
One of the things I like about Victron, and a couple of others, is they continue to support their stuff with new firmware etc, and that can even add capabilities.
Glad it helps! It's so nice not having to run the generator! I did the rough math. With the cost of fuel right now and being down for 48 hours so far, it would have cost me over $130 to keep the generator running.
Adam, I have been a big fan and following of your page and Andy's off grid garage. My setup is almost identical located in N.W. WA and originally had the eg4 system but i upgraded to the victron system. Eg4 crapped out so upgraded for the replacement that i may use as a generator boost to the 10k victron like Andy did but his was all victron already. My system has been working flawlessly since going off grid 100% since Feb 2024 on 8.7kw of solar 16 420w REC and 20 renogy 100w. 770kw of battery bank using 2 x eg4 100ah and 2 x Gobel power 285ah. Just ordered a DIY battery case Andy suggested on one of his builds with Eve 314 mb31 because finding out from eve they have discontinued the mb30, so still waiting on That to get preparing for raining season. When it rains i only produce 5-10%. Only problem i recently have and I hope you can help me with is on the Cerbo gx mabe faulty, Not getting any data from the shunt/Battery/Loads. Only data on charge controllers mppt 250/100 and 250/85 to the gx and vrm. Did upgrade to the Beta. Can't find anything out there that anyone is having issues with except putting a cap on power point. Andy did have a little issue but a thing that was with his Pi. That"s what i hate about anything that they compact in a small size a put fets, and components in always seem to fail from heat i would think. Let me know on your input or others on the channel. Keep up on the good work!
Appreciate the comments and congrats on going fully off grid! I still hope to get there some day! As far as the Cerbo goes, do you see the shunt and inverters show up in the device list? I'm curious if it's some kind of connection issue or a programming issue. Seems very odd that you have a shunt (which would be VE CAN) and a MultiPlus (VE BUS) that aren't showing any data. This is probably a silly question, but have you gone and rebooted the Cerbo?
I've been keeping an eye on the beta updates. They're still actively plugging away at this. I'm seeing new updates every couple weeks at least. I can say that I've been running the beta since I put out the first video and haven't experienced any issues with it in runny my house. The last beta update came out on 9/20. You can actually see more details in the community forum: community.victronenergy.com/t/venus-os-beta-series-announcement-and-changelog-v3-50-22/120
they added the time remaining on dashboard which is great, but from lookign at your video, it appears to still havnt added the time to fully charged. I found these really usefull on solar assistant and that is the major thing I miss after moving to victron

I'm not sure if they added it in the official release of 3.5 or if it was added in 3.51 but there's a control button on the top left of the screen. If you click that, it opens a window which lets you control your generator (if configured), some inverter settings and it allows you to turn on/off your relays.
I upgraded to the latest beta, but I no longer see the levels screen. I can see how to change the brief levels view options, but how do I get the levels screen back?
If all the sensors are turned off, the "levels" page won't display. Go to Settings -> IO and make sure you have the proper analog and digital sensors turned on. For my temperature sensor, it was just Analog -> Temperature Input 1.
@@AdamDeLayDIY Thanks, Adam. I don't have any sensors set up yet, but the screen still displayed with the old firmware. I have a Mopeka sensor on my propane tank that I currently monitor over BT, but plan to add it to the Cerbo.
@@AdamDeLayDIY Easy peasy... went into IO and selected Bluetooth Sensors. It found both of my sensors (main 20lb tank connected to my Genmax 3500W dual fuel generator, and a spare 20lb tank). The main tank has a Mopeka Pro, but the spare is the regular Mopeka. The Pro shows solid readings, but the regular unit is flaky. If I stand near the Cerbo with my phone, I get solid signals from both. The tanks are in a prefab lawn shed with the generator behind the house about 50ft from the Cerbo. If Continuous Monitoring is disabled, how often does it update?
Wasssup..! I just installed it. Guess it needs a few minutes to be able to access the settings in it. My screen goes blank. I like the look and yes, it's pretty fluid\smooth. Can't wait to see it with active solar. I wonder if it detects multiple arrays.

still kinda annoying that they dont realise there is “DC bus” (aka bus bar etc) to which all the devices (chargers or loads) are connected. eg a battery doesnt have 3 input/outout connections .. it has only ONE … current flows into OR out off only ONE connection between battery and the “DC bus” … its not intuitive, or electrically corect just IMHO
One reason I opted out of doing any wireless connections, is because of all the hacking going on around the world! I don’t have the smart enough to know how to keep that from happening. So I choose just to use everything manually. Same reason I don’t use a wireless thermostat on my heater. California was using the wireless connection to turn off peoples heat!
