I was privileged to instruct at the first HPDE in 2001 at the newly restored VIR. It was instantly one of my favorite tracks and I came back many times. Thank you Peter, Connie, and the rest for having the vision and making it happen.

I drove a good friend of mines RX-8 here back in 2019 when they had the charity lap event and I feel in love, I've never been there before I've never driven on the track and I've never driven an RX8 6 speed before

I got to do, what I believe was one of the early motorcycle track days, on the restored track....spring of 2002(?). I was impressed, ooh, fresh pavement on a real road course. They didn't even have the buildings built on the front straight yet. I did a drive around on the access road..I saw a "Gulf" painted sports car in an ole wooden garage/barn, I think it was a Ford GT 40 (?). Does that ring any bells?

NASCAR needs a Cup race here. A few well placed grandstands like The Glen and you will easily get 100,000 + including infield spectators. My favorite road course in the South. The Roval at Charlotte is OK but it's not a real road course.

To VIR: I appreciate your retrospective videos with comparisons to the modern up to date driving tour. The symmetry of the time-lapse is excellent. Well done. The key is to chop down trees (for they kill people and destroy property), deforest, undertake a project of the immense tract; build domiciles, businesses, and communities.

Trees too close to the track, Bad. Trees everywhere else, Good! The trees and landscape are part of what makes VIR so great. And I miss the Oak Tree. :-(

@@rockybarnes7704 To Rocky and the Community: No. I'm on your side, *with sincerity up to speed.* This is what I would write to you and all positive people pertaining to racing and improving tracts of vistas: ------------------------ I bid you all of the best in your purposeful pursuits of locating tracts to build tracks for racing. I do enjoy the comparative driving views of the open space which are different from the times of yore. ----------------------- The prior ragged trees and bushes devoid of any agricultural trajectory are known for killing people and rendering life hard for property owners: Wind, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires, etc, are contributing to causing consternation for the concerned. Chop them down. Reset, refresh and restart.
I am an advocate for utilizing tracts for many purposes: To build houses, apartments, business buildings, communities or even organized agricultural and farming vicinages -- and -- yes -- racing tracks! I'd rather have tracks to spring up -- rather than run-down tenements -- having to hastily run and soar from eye-sores situated in squalid blight which even large elegant cities possess.
I bid you the best in what you do. Blessings.

@@eddyvideostar so how many vehicles have found trees in the last 20 yrs. of them being re-opened? What are you talking about? I've raced there, I was never concerned about tree placement....p.s. misc. trees and shrubbery beyond run off boundary's, support eco-life of hundreds if not thousands of living species = good for planet.
