As hatchlings and juveniles, you shouldn't have any problems, but as adults, this tank may be too small. Females can grow to about 10 inches, and if you have multiple turtles, it can get crowded pretty quickly.
I would suggest looking at our larger 40 gallon ReptiHabitat tanks.
Still take into account how many turtles you plan on keeping and their size before deciding.

That all depends on local temperatures. If your pet's tank isn't reaching the appropriate temperatures they need, then yes, a heater may be needed. Always research the specific needs of your pet and adjust their habitat accordingly.

Hi there. It all depends on what temperatures you are getting. If the appropriate temperatures for your turtle aren't being met with the Turtle Tuff and 5.0, then additional heating might be needed.

This is a very great set for a baby aquatic turtle! Everything they need is included, love that!
That's up to you if you feel comfortable with the quality of the water. We would recommend adding some ReptiSafe Water Conditioner to be safe.
That depends on the type of Turtle. Try searching online for a Care Sheet of the specific species you plan on keeping. Always throughly research the type of Turtle you plan on keeping.

We recommend first separating the juveniles and the adults if they are a substantial size difference. This risks one outcompeting the other for food, or even eating the other(!). Turtles should be kept together with others of similar size.
The larger ones should definitely be upgraded to a larger tank. Depending on their size, they may eventually need something even bigger. Red-Eared Sliders alone can get fairly big. Get in contact with our Customer Service for more info: 1-888-496-6633

To people who bought this tank I recommend getting a bigger tank when your turtle gets bigger or use the 40 gallon kit then you can get another zoo med tank since turtle like to swim alot

Anything that obscures the path of UVB can decrease its output by some percentage. See our Lighting Care Guide on our website for more information, it covers both how to setup lighting for habitats with and without a screen. Hope that helps. Take care.

Depending on the species of water turtle, it might be. The kit is designed with hatchling and juveniles in mind. If your turtle is outgrowing the space, then a larger enclosure is definitely needed. How good and necessary is the turtle hut?
My lil hatchling was going to his heating rock a lot to bask ,, However i have noticed over the last several days he is not , He is staying by the fliter system . Is there something im doing wrong ?? im learning a crash course on care for my lil red slider ,, ,, I have him now for a month ,, and have gotten attached to him i dont want to lose him now , He seems healthy and loves to be held ,
+Robin Koschnick It's difficult to say without having hands-on time with him. Make sure his habitat is appropriately setup with the correct heating, he is eating, relieving waste, and generally moving around the habitat.
If you feel he is acting strange or showing signs that may indicate sickness, I would suggest taking him to a vet or reptile specialist that can provide a hands-on diagnosis. Hope that helps.

For hatchlings, yes, but an adult, a Painted Turtle would probably require our 40 Gallon aquarium or bigger. I would recommend our River Rock as a choice of aquarium ground cover.

GirlCrafter19 Red Eared Sliders are known to grow to relatively large sizes. This kit will work great for hatchlings, but you'll need to upgrade them to a larger tank as they get bigger.

Is it OK to not have any uvb or any other heat source to the tank??..I just put them in direct sunlight everyday morning and afternoon will that be fine?
Ralph Pelayo We recommended that the appropriate UV and heat be provided in their enclosure at all times. Providing heat and UVB appropriately in the habitats will allow your animal to thermoregulate (move in and out of the heat) and photoregulate (move in and out of the light as necessary). If you are going to allow your animal to live or spend part of its time outdoors, make sure you are providing the option of cover so your pet can move out of the sun if necessary. I'm thinking of getting my first turtle/terrapin but I don't want to waste a lot of of money on loads of different accessories, but would this kit last the lifespan of the pet if it were the smallest type or would you need to upgrade with all types of turtle/terrapins? Also if you will need to upgrade to a larger tank how long would this kit last? Any response would be much appreciated thank you in advance.

This kit is designed to provide the basics for a variety of young aquatic turtles, but it is up to you to research the needs of the specific species you plan on keeping and adjusting their habitat and lifestyle accordingly. Whether or not you'll need to upgrade the habitat itself will depend on the unique growth of your pet as well as how many you are keeping. Hope that makes sense.

How much water should I put in a 10 gallon for my Red eared slider?
That depends on how your habitat is setup. At the least, there should be enough water to allow them to submerge and easily maneuver around their surroundings without difficulty in finding food and other resources. Refer online for a Red Ear Slider caresheet for more details. Also, Red Ear Sliders can grow quite large, so expect to upgrade to a larger enclosure as they get older. Yes, the included heat lamps in the kit are safe to sit on the metal mesh top, but make sure they're the appropriate distance from your pet as well.

hello zoo med i have 8 aquatic turtles living in a 40 gallon tank 3 r babys and the rest r adults not full grown though 6 r red eared slider 1 is a Mississippi map turtle and the other 1 is a yellow bellied slider should i upgrade them to a 75 gallon tank?

As filters can vary depending on the animal and how the habitat is set up, and with the 40 gallon allowing a variety of potential setups with its bigger size to our 20 gallon, it was decided to keep the filter separate and let the new pet owner choose what type of filter will benefit their habitat best, while keeping the cost of the kit itself down. Our daylight blue and and nightlight red bulbs are great ways to provide heat for your pet during their appropriate hours, however, you'll always want to gauge their temps to make sure they are getting the appropriate amount for both day and night time heat.
