I learned this the hard way, just by making beats and memorizing chords, this is really helpful and it saves a lot of time, good theory.

Honestly, I have been a Riddim dubstep producer for over a year now, and people haven't told me about music theory until now. Thanks for being the best to learn from. I tried watching deadmau5 and Armin van Buuren Masterclass to learn music theory, and I just didn't get it. Thanks for being my inspiration and motivation.

In music theory, a scale is any set of musical notes ordered by fundamental frequency or pitch. A scale ordered by increasing pitch is an ascending scale, and a scale ordered by decreasing pitch is a descending scale. A scale is a pitch collection. middle c has a precise frequency that is it! call it what you want.

I think it should be mentioned that the Chromatic scale was not arrived at simply at the whim of someones preferences, it is a standard that was evolved over many centuries that allows a collection of instruments to play together in a largely harmonious way. It's where physics meets music in a practical way.
Music is like a physics and maths experiment all wrapped up into one beautiful thing! Kind of awesome :)
