Man, I’ve been on UA-cam since 2015, and watched all kinds of videos, your is the first one that I totally understand what you’re showing and teaching! I love it!!!!
Can confirm, DEVELOP THAT EAR. I used to be so focused on theory that I was like "nah, this is what theory says, gotta do it this way" and only when I started listening for mood and how the melo/chords are actually sounding my beats/loops got waaay better 💯
Or just use the chord assistant in Fl Studio while you learn music theory, not sure why he didn’t show us how to use the chord assistant. Fl Studio has a chord assistant in the piano roll.
@@ms.rebelle cause like He said He's teaching what He did when He first started and that was Years ago when the chord assistant tool wasn't even developed!
I will say having a basic knowledge of music theory is super helpful, atleast knowing keys and the scales in them allows you to move much faster, either way great video
Thanks for clearing this up for me guys. I was a little confused as to what yall were talking about at first when i read 'Chord Assistant.' I was wondering what feature yall were talking about but now i see.
Please do a video on chorus/verses because this tutorial is great for one of those but how to make another section in the same key that still sounds different?
Even if you know nothing about music you can still figure out something's wrong if the melody doesn't follow scale. You're born with that skill. You can also develop your ears (meaning more experience with sounds) by listening to as many sounds as possible and you'll soon figure out what sound sounds nice in the mix.
I've been making beats since 8 months and to this day i haven't made any good melodies maybe i should quit cause at this point I don't like using samples for every beat
I think youre making too many rules to make good sounding melodies. When I make melodies I turn my brain off and just get in the zone and just let the heart make the melody. I don’t think there’s too complicated or not complicated enough. Well maybe there is but either way I think people shouldn’t think about what they’re making is too complicated or not complicated enough. I think people should just do whatever. Literally. Like I said turn the brain off and let your soul make the music. Idk that’s what I do and I consider myself to be pretty good at making melodies.
he literally said listen and click. it’s just people like you that don’t know how to take advice at the surface. everything he says in this video are things you would do naturally if you were just making a melody by ear. you do these things without thinking about it even because music that sounds good will always have that harmonic value and repeated patterns at times. he’s just explaining it in greater detail because this video is for beginners and they don’t know the workflow.
“ Before I learned the art, a punch was just a punch, and a kick, just a kick. After I learned the art, a punch was no longer a punch, a kick, no longer a kick. Now that I understand the art, a punch is just a punch and a kick is just a kick.“ Bruce Lee. This is absolutely spot on. When they say make music without thinking, 👆this is what they mean. There is a difference between a master not thinking while making music vs a newbie not thinking while making music.
Agree with this. Within in the first few seconds of him placing notes I heard a completely different and “more complex” melody that could have been fire. I follow a bunch of piano posting UA-cam accounts who have crazy complex compositions and it sounds fire. He had some good tops and definitely simple can be a good idea. Do whatever you think is cool!
Why not show them how to use the chord assistant in Fl Studio, alot of you UA-camrs don’t be trying teach nothing. Just trying make a video run so y’all can get paid.
What did he do so wrong that you would advise untrained artists to work/focus on? ( if you dont agree with the ‘click around and trust your ears’ sorta shit lol
I mean this is the way almost everyone start music production with a little bit of music theory .Even really good producers are still doing this technique even tho they know music theory like a book

If I’m not mistaken the snap to scale feature should let yall make melodies easier because it’ll only let you select notes that are in key
Facts that what I’m talking about the chord assistant in FL Studio
Thanks for clearing this up for me guys. I was a little confused as to what yall were talking about at first when i read 'Chord Assistant.' I was wondering what feature yall were talking about but now i see.

Really miss that “Yo Kyle this sh crazyy!” Tag 😭😭
Thanks bro💪💯
Do you think you can actually "develop" an ear vs being born with it?
Even if you know nothing about music you can still figure out something's wrong if the melody doesn't follow scale. You're born with that skill.

yes it called relative pitch
im really trying to learn this, its hard when all the nice stuff costs 400 bucks
regarding Step editing mode, is there a way to change the note length?
Being able to play the keyboard, I think somehow contributes to that hearing effect...
Best way to develop ear?
listen to more music and break it down in your head. Focus on certain sounds.
Good video for the fl community
Basic ❤❤

Don't focus on making amazing beats, have fun with making wacky stuff into something you love.
@@snopdogg2x ong so much of my shit is ass but funky as fuck people focus on making something u can imagine someone singing or rapping over

It says (beginner) for that reason! Just tips that I used at the start and still use when making new stuff

If you intend for an Artist to hop on then yes you can get too complicated and not leave any room for them. Sometimes less is more.

Use your ears.
He said that
So now youre enticing kids to not learn about music theory. Anything to make a dollar. #suckamove
This was a horrible melody ironically
I make better beats than you
I like Kyle a lot but as a classically trained music composer, i hated this video.
