There was a documentary about stand up comedians that had footage of Steven Wright in the green room before he was about to go on here. It was his first National tv appearance and he was nervously pacing watching the monitor when a producer told him he was up in 60 seconds, and Wright mumbled to himself “I’ve been working all my life for this moment but right now I’d give anything not to be here”.

I remember Steven made such an impression on me that I couldn't stop talking about him the next day and repeated many of his jokes, which I can recall almost 40 years later. Absolutely mindblowing how original and brilliant he is. And Johnny immediately knew he had something special and his seal of approval made Steven a star. This was an amazing performance. Steven is a unique and brilliant comedian. I've seen him live in Houston a couple of times years ago. He's so intelligent with his humor the crowd would have delayed laughter because he was already on the next joke and you re still processing the last joke and busting out laughing from the joke right before that. I enjoy his sense of humor!
