I remember when I was a kid of about 13 or 14 yrs. I saw the B&W film 'Scott of the Antarctic with John Mills in the role of RF Scott and when it came to the final scenes where he was in the tent with one or two of the others, all asleep and crushed, he wrote those final, immortal lines in his diary. I am not ashamed to say that I had tears running down my cheeks, I was so moved and sad. The following day I visited the British Museum where the original diary was so I could actually see it for myself. One of those times in life that you feel compelled to do something even though at the time you don't exactly know why.

The hut was used for a long time after Scott's death, and it's been picked over by lots of visitors since, so to say it's "as it was when they left for the pole" is wrong.

That is interesting and believable ...I bet it was more sparse in Scott`s era

In addition to your points, I have to criticise that the documentary makes it appear as if the hut was abandoned by all members of the team and that none returned, so that the hut remains as it was when all these men left it. This is wrong. Only five men went to the pole, the rest returned to this hut and lived there for quite a while.

@@jasonbond5213 You are correct in what you say but it'll always be 'Scott's Hut' regardless of the nit picking.

I love this, but I guess my largest question would be why did they make it so hard on themselves with multiple GoPros, unmounted and unfixed? Wouldn't a single compact 360 VR camera similar to the Samsung accomplish that with one pass, saving valuable time on stitching and money on multiple cameras?

they probably didn't think that far. it would of saved them some time to do other things too.

The hut was of a prefabricated structure and was made, initially assembled and tested in New Zealand from where it was transported by ship and then re-assembled at its site, taking several of the men just a couple of hours. It was of a double layer and lined with a type of dry fibreglass material between the interior and exterior.
