This show is taking on a life of its own and with just being two episodes in. I absolutely love it. I've missed Daryl more than I even realized. He does not disappoint.
Somehow I see Negan and Maggie finding their way to Daryl’s show. Cause that show sucks. To many rewashed storylines of their past life. Completely boring. And Hershel is a 🍆
Laurent being the cure is a good theory especially being if Paris is ground zero and his mother was bitten by the first zombie’s having the virus before it mutates threw the years could be a huge factor in that theory. Definitely loving this show more than I thought can’t wait for the next episode and seeing how this season with progress.
it's not just that Lou couldn't do it....she was obviously very capable....Daryl did it to SPARE Lou from doing it, and taking on that guilt when she already felt guilty for that guy's death (i don't remember his name but he was the walker in the moat)
I would love if isabelle was a scientist and worked somehow or knew about the virus and this is why she quit and went insane on drugs and bad decisions. It will be a great plot twist (ish). Bc her reaciton was weird, she kinda knew what was happening, but not believing
And when she told other nun, that when they will come North, they will all reveal their true purpose, I think it means she knows something about virus or finding the cure
if AMC could somehow make a show that just continually shows the start of the end of the world from various people's pov, that would be my perfect zombie-related show. as soon as that bit ended on "fear the walking dead" i completely lost interest
Yessss this was peak cinema! The beginning of the the apocalypse was so well done. We want more of it! It would be great if AMC showed each character dealing with the beginning. Like 1 full episode per character. Like how did Dale deal with the beginning, Merle, Andrea, the prisoners from season 3, shoot even the Governor! I’d like to see how Lori and Shane dealt with it at first as well.
OP, the idea of the show would be simple to do. Just have a reporter/journalist doing what the main character of World War Z was doing, interviewing survivors on their points of view of the outbreak to give better clarity to the overall picture. Agreed on losing interest in FtWD, it promised to show me what happened at the start of the outbreak on the west coast. Instead I got a 3 week time skip and a bunch of people murdering dozens of soldiers + hundreds of civilians via walkers to rescue a drug addict. Never watched another second of it.
I immediately thought of Ellie in The Last of Us when I saw Laurent was born to an infected woman. Do they think he's the savior like they thought she was? The biggest difference is that everyone has the virus in TWD universe so how is he any different than otger kids born in the last 13 years? Another difference is that we don't know if Laurent is immune like we do with Ellie.
Rip-off comes to mind. HBO last of us had pregnant mom bitten by zombie but baby survives and have immunity to virus. So Joel must escort Ellie to develop vaccine to save humanity. Here same story Laurent may or may not have immunity but is the saviour of humanity so Daryl must escort him to the habitat. Same story.
I kinda hope laurent isnt the cure but just immune. In the comics, the viruse is never cured and yea the spinoffs are doing their own thing but the idea that there will never be a cure is more interesting to me than there being one. Tho also, if laurent can pass down his immunity through generation, that could be a cool idea.
what are they supposed to cure lol? decaying and decomposing corpses don't have any blood flow to let the cure do it's thing so it would only be effective right after getting bit.
Laurent is definitely carrying something. I feel like they’re making his skin even paler than it actually is. I wouldn’t be surprised if the priests demise is tied to him somehow. Like he bit the priest and caused him to turn.
- Yes, Quinn will return. He operates the underground nightclub that we see in the promos. He also, apparently, is involved in the black market. I think before the apocalypse, he worked with Isabelle - she pickpocketed items and he sold off the watches & credit cards. - in this episode it was mentioned that Isabelle & Lily's parents had died. So it's likely they suddenly went from travelling the world with their parents (who worked with Doctors without Borders) to orphans & Isabelle had trouble coping with that change - In Madam Dubois' room was a package of Metformin, which is a medication used to treat diabetes. - My guess has been that Mont St Michel will be the final destination for Laurent. They haven't given any hints whether he would be trying to get to Le Havre this season
I love the flashbacks. As far as I'm concerned, every episode should follow the Lost style flashback storytelling for each character where it goes back to the zombie outbreak to let you know who these people are in the current story. Fear The Walking Dead, as a series, should have been nothing but an anthology of the outbreak across numerous characters' backstories.
You should rewatch the episode, It was Daryl that fired the arrow that killed the zombie brother in the moat. You can see she still had the arrow and Daryl hands a crossbow back to someone and nods to her.
This is such an epic side note but i was so hurt when they left that little girl. I could have never left her. Idk if it was just me but i took it as BOTH her parents were gone. Like a Clementine situation where both parents were out and the mom was on the phone crying. If the mom was there i dont think she would let her daughter go outside and play on the scooter while she cried over Paris falling.
Thank you for a Great review. I enjoyed the second episode as well as the first one. The flashbacks demonstrated some of Isabelle’s life prior to the apocalypse. Hopefully, we will find out more about her. This show is very promising.
The man IS Quinn.. Same hair color and if you look at the jawline in the second frame, it is the same shape and color as Quinn's beard in the first image.
I think that is Quinn because there is no way the type of guy who would tell a person to ditch their pregnant sibling would not be ruthless enough to seek revenge in a zombie apocalypse. I liked seeing Teddy from Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny actor Ethann Isidore as one of the scavenger school kids in this episode. BTW I liked the donkey joke, but Asterix was a mule product of a horse and a donkey... so you were half right ( the reason it stuck out to me is because mules can't have children and during the slave times doctors told slave owners that mixed race children were sterile too.) What would be interesting is what if Laurent ends up being like a daywalker and after he is bitten he a zombie with the milky white eyes but retains his faculties.
In the trailers last week after the first episode, there was a brief clip of a guy saying I haven't seen you in so long, or something like that I'm paraphrasing, and I paused it at the time to see if it was somebody from the original walking Dead series, but now I'm thinking maybe it's Quinn and he's talking to Isabelle and they run into each other in Paris. Great review as always and I can't wait for the next
8:54 Daryl kills the brother actually. Also Quinn is stated on Variety's coverage of the show(spoilers warning) to be a “displaced Brit who has become powerful in post-apocalyptic Paris as a black marketeer and the owner of the Demimonde, a sexy underground nightclub.” sooo.. ya
So Isabella use to be a party pick pocket till the end came also so did her and Quinn know each other before the end there last scene in the flashback seemed to imply that! Also I know it’s the start but did Quinn literally punch that walker in the face! Also Isabella being Laurent’s aunt is nice and it’s not just some random kid she’s attached to! I can also see why Laurent is special in the eyes of the nuns he’s a two month premie baby and survived his mother being turned
What if Quinn was the pimp and the gig was for Isabelle to hustle men out of cards and whatever else she could get and this is why Quinn was able to get there so quickly after it all went down? We will have to see. I'm not a big fan of the messiah angle at all but like you said, if he's immune then that might be more interesting.
This 2nd ep riped my heart out because they have childerns, I'm crying thinking how all those kids keep themself alive since preschool. I cant imagine what the kids gone thru all the years.
@@n47eem No. But I didn't have a pregnant sister that was infected either and that worked more for me. That's great that it touched you. I have a lot of issues with the show. I think most that are watching this are blinded by fandom and the higher production quality. There's a hell of a lot of silly moments, hell, the whole premise is pretty silly so far. Dixon that's supposed to be a lone survivor has made how many mistakes so far? And nearly died two or more times in just 2 eps. That bit on the drawbridge and the fall was ridiculous.
Slower than I would have liked but the opening scene of the breakout was so bad ass. I wish it would have just stood there. So far I am a huge fan of the show. Can’t wait for more
Serious bad assery but would like to see more mayhem with explosions and zombie hordes more like the style of world war Z. You know what's funny is when you see Daryl in the moat trying to climb out the zombie is like 3 feet away from him and taking his sweet time shuffling to reach Daryl. Can these zombies move any slower.
quite honestly at this point all i want to know is how does daryl keep up his stylish hair cut so neatly without fail 🧐? was he a hairdresser before the z apocalypse? 🤔
I can’t believe the walkers would kill that one guy. He told them he’s an American and they didn’t listen. Maybe he didn’t realize they only spoke French..
This was a great episode but also they go clémence poésy!! What an absolute win. I watched Essex serpent last year and despite it being a Claire Danes Tom hiddleston vehicle the two major standouts were clémence and fear the walking dead’s brilliant Frank dillane, both of whom were in the Harry Potter francisé too ❤
only seen 2 episodes so far, but it's pretty good. I think being set outside America loses some interest, but Daryl being there and flashbacks of when it started really help. I'll continue to watch. Not as good as Dead City, but still real good
Laurent's mistery? From episode 1, it's pretty clear, his blood is seen as precious as He was possibly infected in the womb. So he's inportant for all sorts of powerplayers, hence He was hidden in the covenant.
U missed the part where she excused herself off the elevator after hearing screams immediately taking meds of some kind after hearing screams from the party alluding she has some kind of condition that she may struggle with hallucinations and took her way longer to realize an actual emergency was happening. It's also an unfortunate observation i've come to, seeing how desperate the show writers potentially are to make this a good show they need to steal ideas from a more successful recent series "the last of us" took as an approach for what could end this apocalypse, from what i just saw, where the boy most likely will be the cure since his conception was in the time window of his mothers death to a bite so if they do go that route, thats lame as fuck tbh cause they want to ride those coat tails.
Condition that struggle with hallucinations - she was under influence of drugs at that moment. I am wondering why she didn’t have any withdrawal symptoms next day, when they were escaping Paris
Lou doesn’t put the brother out of his misery. She can’t do it, so Daryl comes behind her with a crossbow and does it. That’s why, when she puts her teacher out, it’s more meaningful
One inaccuracy I found is that the 50€ bills she has/ money in general is the EUROPA series which was first introduced in 2017, so it’s technically impossible for her to have them.
@@rebel6183 ooooh ok so we were definitely talking about two different instances. In my defense I was a bit tipsy last night when I commented lol I was thinking of what was covered in the episode 1 breakdown @5:18-5:45 and @ 8:30-8:48
Oops! The original comic's Astérix (short, blonde and super speedy fast from the village wizard's magic potion) is not the same character as the one you showed us - that was Obélix (tall, round, eats everything in sight, redhead and fell into the wizard's cooking pot as a baby = no more soup for you!), lol!
After surviving 12 or 13 yrs you'd think Daryl would know an ambush trap and not go chasing after anyone running away. Wow. Writers need to kick it up a notch on common sense.
I could watch a whole series on a bunch of different stories of Day 1 of the out break. Similet to to Tales of The walking dead but just about day 1 of the outbreak. Every episode would be chaos.
1. Quinn is the same guy who they're going to meet in the bar in the coming episodes. He might be a negative character. 2. Look at Isabelle's hand marks. The day zombie outbreak happened she only had few marks but when Daryl saw her hand in the first ep, she has now so many scars on the same hand at the same place. So it means she tried to die even after Laurent's birth. But it feels like it might've happened before she became a nun. So this means she took a long time there to become a nun exactly. 3. I'm repeating myself again. I genuinely think Laurent is immune to walkers.
I don’t think Moof fired the arrow at his brother, it looks as though Daryl took the crossbow and fired it so that the kids wouldn’t have to be responsible
There was no point in staying there once they saw they weren’t a threat to each other - for someone to be on a mission and in a rush to get there they sure do waste a lot of time
This episode had a heavy Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome feel to it. All that was feral Australian kids talking "missin' the highscrapers and the v-v-v-video, and the bydie bye." With that said, this show has so far turned out to be better by orders of magnitude than I would ever guessed it could be, truly. I guess the Negan and Maggie spin off was supposed to be pretty good but I couldn't get past the second episode. Maggie had become insufferable long ago on TWD, and the prospect of sitting through a show where I have to deal with her every episode was just a cross too heavy for me to bear. She's such a one dimensional character, and watching her constantly trying to kill Negan even though she needs him was just…f'cking awful. It's like she's only slightly more intelligent than a walker, and with all those variants I don't know how long even that will be true.
Although last of us had a similar rendition of the “second coming” birth, how the mother was bitten. I feel like it’s sort of universal in a sense that it can’t really be copied since it’s not that outlandish of an idea. Idk, what does everybody else think?
Will Quinn be back? Is Laurent the key to a cure? Why haven't I seen ONE baguette yet??

I don't know about anybody else, but so far I'm enjoying this show a whole lot better than Maggie & Negan's.
Overall but negan had the really good moments like gutting the guy Infront of the people
It's mid vs. pretty bad, so DD wins. But we'll see.
Me too. I lost interest w/the Maggie and Negan story
Somehow I see Negan and Maggie finding their way to Daryl’s show. Cause that show sucks. To many rewashed storylines of their past life. Completely boring. And Hershel is a 🍆
Maggie and Negan is also good. This show is a rip-off off HBO last of us. Not original at all.
I hope the same writers are utilized for Dead City 2.. This is the best spinoff yet!💕
Agreed
I came here to see who else thought the same lol
wait there is even more spinoffs.. yikes.
Dead city was ok tbh, the story didn’t hook me, however, it was nice to see the characters return
Yess I also hope we get to see New York monuments zombiefied like they seem to be doing in this show’s teaser promos
Flashback scene at the nightclub when the door opened...sounded like zombies took over the club after. Anybody else noticed that?

This aint happening. Hes only special cause he survived hes mums death during labour
Darryl was the one who took the shot because Lou couldn't do it... Just like he had to take the shot for Dale
This needs to be higher up
true, I had to rewind it.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Which is probably why he offered to ‘deal with’ Madame Dubois. (for Lou)

She looked like she was a pick pocket she stole lots of men’s watches and money
She's basically a higher class Cardi B. Driver was probably with her gang.
No she didnt. Her whole reaction was she didnt know what was going on.

Tales of the Walking Dead covers the onset from different people including an episode with Alpha & Lydia. It's well worth watching

what are they supposed to cure lol? decaying and decomposing corpses don't have any blood flow to let the cure do it's thing so it would only be effective right after getting bit.
We are so far from the comics. The comic book story became irrelevant after season 2 of the original show.
Just immunity doesn't mean alive he's still got every chance to be killed be anything else I hope he's just a miracle baby and not special

Lou doesn’t put the brother out of his misery. She can’t do it, so Daryl comes behind her with a crossbow and does it. That’s why, when she puts her teacher out, it’s more meaningful
Laurant is Blade. Bet money he’s immune.
One inaccuracy I found is that the 50€ bills she has/ money in general is the EUROPA series which was first introduced in 2017, so it’s technically impossible for her to have them.
didn't Daryl kill the brother?
Nope the woman from the first two people Daryl ran into in France who killed Codrons brother she just lied and told him it was Daryl
I just now finished the episode and rewound that moment and yea, daryl did shoot the walker brother. He had a crossbow.
@@IW3527 i'm talking about Moof's Brother. the little boy.
@@rebel6183yes, it was Daryl, he saw how she was struggling and crying, and he did it
@@rebel6183 ooooh ok so we were definitely talking about two different instances.
I fell asleep three times trying to finish this episode....😮
One thing I dont like about this show is that they nerfed Daryl so we have "exciting moments" where he is in danger
It was mr Dixon that put out moof´s brother the girl could not do it
so they went with the 'he killed my brother so I will hunt him 'trope.... And they gave the boy the Ellie LOU cure... how creative..
I believe the boy is special because he may be immune
8:53 actually Daryl shot the boy before Lou could. And since you mentioned it at 12:07, I think that is Quinn
Wouldn't this show take place at least 12 years after the apocalypse. Instead of 11 like you said
The impression I got of Quinn (I didn't even catch his name on the show) was some type of handler/crime partner/pimp.
Just wanna say.. Lou did not shoot the brother Zombie. Daryl did, its why she looked in shock at him after and he put a bow away.
The craziest thing about walking dead is that it was only 11-12 years 👁️👄👁️
Astérix is a French cartoon character
Proceeds to show Obélix
“He jus wants dat ass.” - top line of the video.😂
“God damn it. I’m an American!” - top line of the episode.😂
I wondered if Izzy and the other nun were involved. Izzy calls her my sweet and talks of the two of them being a family with Laurant.
Astérix is the small one, not the big one (you shown Obelix)
After surviving 12 or 13 yrs you'd think Daryl would know an ambush trap and not go chasing after anyone running away.
Wow. Writers need to kick it up a notch on common sense.
...and the nightclub the episode started out with was called "Bonnie"
Have you ever noticed the Car that they used in Episode 1 it seems like it has some Modified tank in it just like the Croatian did in Dead City.
The 2nd episode reminded me a lot of Clementine final part there are also kids from boarding school, ship like Lily's 😐
I don’t think Moof fired the arrow at his brother, it looks as though Daryl took the crossbow and fired it so that the kids wouldn’t have to be responsible
For some season I got the impression Isabelle was someone famous
You don't have to get bit to turn, you just have to die 😂
The zombie in 28 weeks later got to France I think it’s class
Don't you mean learn not to be a lone wolf again.... Daryl did learn to work with others (again🙄) during common wealth arc in original series
Laurent's birth scene kinda reminded me of Ellie's birth scene in the last of us.
There was no point in staying there once they saw they weren’t a threat to each other - for someone to be on a mission and in a rush to get there they sure do waste a lot of time
And you're a little crazy for calling Oreos biscuits.. 😁
yeah, where can i even watch this?
American patriot: I'm an American!
Me: You never were.
Amazing how impressed I am by the amount of French who know English
This episode had a heavy Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome feel to it. All that was feral Australian kids talking "missin' the highscrapers and the v-v-v-video, and the bydie bye."
With that said, this show has so far turned out to be better by orders of magnitude than I would ever guessed it could be, truly.
I love this series
Although last of us had a similar rendition of the “second coming” birth, how the mother was bitten. I feel like it’s sort of universal in a sense that it can’t really be copied since it’s not that outlandish of an idea. Idk, what does everybody else think?
we compare to the last of us
but maybe the DD series will be better than last of us
The explosion scene makes no sense lol. Just manages to blow up all the zombies all around him and not him.
I really enjoyed this episode. I thought it was great. I still leave these reviews a little confused though, as usual.
Who is R. J. Thought that was Rick &Mashonnes kid?
