I don’t know why you’re surprised Eddie fell in love so fast. He was coming out of an addiction and needed something to cling to besides the gunslinger of course he was going to fall in love with the next girl he saw.

Started Dark Tower inbetween some really big fantasy series like Stormlight and Wheel of Time, and was cought off guard with what the series was plot/structure wise compared to WOT/Stormlight. One hell of a ride and so many "WTF" and "HUH!?!?" moments. Finished Song of Susannah few weeks ago and will take my final ride with Roland to the Dark Tower next week. Long days and pleasants nights sai.

I do love the climax, Roland basically used Jack basically as a GTA character in a roleplay server 😂

All these people who dislike the first book are just objectively wrong. The first book was easily the best in the whole series. I love how he wrote it in this cinematic style which painted surreal images in your head. Those images are like album covers that invite you to interpret them. The first book is definitely the same King who wrote Different Seasons and who still had artistic and literary aspirations. The next two books, by contrast, are more like entertaining comic books (which is fine), and from book four onward, the series definitely seemed like it was being written by the same later king who wrote Dreamcatcher or Bag of Bones, unfortunately. Dismissing the first book in favor of the ones that came after is like saying you like Cell more than Pet Sematary. "It's my opinion hurr durr subjective huhuh gate keeper!" No.
There's a guy who posted a comment on some other video somewhere that was complaining about "all the talk of universes" in the first book and thought the scene in the golgotha at the end of the first book should have been trimmed. It's like, are you f*cking serious, dude? I don't mean to be a jerk or anything, but that is not an "opinion," it's straight up mental illness. That scene is one of the best things about that book because it hinted at the cosmic significance of the Tower and incites your imagination. It's a long time joke that King's readers don't like many of his endings, but that particular ending is one of the best in any book he ever wrote.
To end a book written in a cinematic and visual style which evokes Sergio Leone's westerns with something like a Space Odyssey psychedelic vision is just awesome on a stylistic or aesthetic level. Just the idea of that is great. There is no fantasy horror western directed by Leone with a psychedelic Kubrick ending, but shouldn't there be? In a perfect universe, there WOULD be. In the best of all alternate universe timelines, you can be certain that particular movie exists. And this guy is like "yeah, he should have just taken that out." What the hell? At some point, you just have to say "f*ck your opinion. You are wrong."

I was raised in a hyper religious house and I honestly was made to believe that even touching a Stephen King book would somehow open you up to demonic possession. So when I finally started reading him it was so trippy. I’m really glad I have read him and my opinion of his writing has only gone up.

i read stephen kings opinion about idris playing gunslinger, he stated something like “when i write a character, i don’t see how they look from the outside, nor this skin color” so i read the book, and all king talks about is how the gunslinger is a white man with blue eyes, and it plays a major part with odetta and detta when it comes to how and why she hates the gunslinger , it’s like the people who made the damn movie didn’t read the second books and wanted to cast a black man as the gunslinger….. but all in all, my least favorite part of this book was when he was doing the detta voice and talking about jim crow laws and race, just took me out of the fantasy aspect

The difference/similarity between The Gunslinger and The Drawing if the Three truly reminds me of the difference/similarity between Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat.
The first book in each series is the foundation for the sequel(s). Some prefer book two over the first because the story is able to expand on the world and events. Movie fans say the same thing about The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and The Godfather Part II. But one must not forget that the sequel could not tell the story it tells without the existence of the first one.

I still cant believe he lost his fingers to a overgrown lobster. So infuriating. He is the best gunslinger from the old world. THE BEST! That is why i dont like him loosing his fingers that easy at the beginning.
