If your locking and unlocking your vehicle with the remote and the car no longer honks or beeps or flashing parking lights as before...
Please check to make sure the hood, doors and the trunk are all completely shut.
Majority of the times the hood is not latched completely shut.

Thanks a lot! You saved my wife for being so worried about the issue! After I checked doors, the lift gate wasn't properly locked. After closing the gate properly car locks started to respond as previously did! :)
I don’t normally comment on car videos, but this was probably 3rd video I’ve watched after reading multiple articles.

Good looking out. I read thru my owner’s manual to no avail. I watched this video then walked around my car and found a door partially closed. When I closed it, problem solved. Thanks for taking the time to post this quick solve video.

I have a 1999 cougar the battery not chargiing even when I get a jump last time I had someone give me a jump the doors was locking unlocking by there self the speed miter was going up down acting crazy what could it be
Problem solved!! Your 2 mins video helped me to identify a little issue with my rear door lock and eventually the lights are now flashing upon remote lock. Relieved now. Thanks!!
My left rear door wasn't closed all the way. Had already taken apart key fob and tested battery which was ok.

guys if you have this issue on Nissan and you dashboard is not showing anything open, try just pressing Lock+Unlock on your remote for about 5 seconds till the car horns. You can disable/enable it like this anytime

Had a couple tires replace today. Guess they unlocked the hood instead of the truck. I didn't notice it until after watching video. As a senior on a budget I was concern I would have an unexpected auto repair bill. You are a blessing and I THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO.
Still helping ppl in 2021. Pulled the hood button along with the gas button filled up & went back home lock doors but no sound. Not until I find this I go back out & fix it thanks to you.
Thank you!!!! This helped me!! I was stressing out because the alarm honk wasn’t going on and I didn’t know why!! I was already going to take it to the auto shop to get it looked at. I checked the hood and trunk and all my doors, turned out One of my doors was manually locked and didn’t want to unlock with the remote so that’s why the alarm honk wasn’t working. 😅 THANK YOU!

@@sweetcaroline7576 I just manually unlocked it from inside and thats how my alarm honk started working again, I didn't do anything major. The doors locked and unlocked after with the remote.
you saved me a lot of headaches with this.. and the deal is, I could barely tell what wasn't closed all the way. I just opened everything and slammed those suckers shut and boom it beeps and the alarm is back on
What if all doors are closed including trunk and hood and still no beep and locking of doors, it has happen to me once, I didn’t do anything it just started working again, any ideas? Thanks

Thank you. My 2013 Hyundai Sonata stopped working yesterday after I added wiper fluid. Even though the hood was secured it was not locking or peeping. I saw your video this morning, remembered being under the hood yesterday, went outside, opened and shut the hood, and poof, the remote locking and peeping worked. Must of had a leaf or something get in the way of the sensor yesterday. A huge thank you for the video.

Thank you sir! I panicked because a super typhoon recently passed and thought my electricals was damaged. The hood of my Honda was open that's why the lights were not flashing
100% right!! Thank you so much for this info, got car back from shop and couldnt figure out why no chirp or flashing lights. Turns out the front hood wasn't closed all the way and this did the trick & fixed the problem where no other video or even the owners manual would explain this. I'll also add that without the engine hood fully closed I couldnt even arm the alarm since flashing alarm light would not flicker. Again thanks for this info it did the trick!!!
Thank you! Even though I have a Hyundai Sonata, your video solved my problem. I had taken my car in for its annual inspection and one of the mechanics didn't securely close my hood. Could've been a major deal had I been out on a highway. Thanks again.

Awesome this fixed my problem! I picked up car from mechanic, and my alarm when armed wasn't beeping and no lights flashing. I was going crazy trying to figure out what was wrong. This video showed me mechanic never closed hood all the way so hood wasn't locked down.

Thank you sooo much. I couldn't figure it out. Went out to check my hood and of course, it was opened. I realize that in going to get gas the prior day, I pulled what I thought was the gas release button. Went to put gas in it wasn't open. I now realize my error. Closed my hood and wala fixed the problem. i am soooo subscribing to you.
Thanks for showing this. Had my oil changed in my wife's car and they didn't latch the hood down all the way. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't honk when hitting the lock on the key fob lol

Thank you. I have a new-to-us '06 civic for my 16yr old twin sons. They said their car stopped honking when they locked the doors. I figured it was the trunk, but the had popped the hood latch somehow. I closed the hood and issue fixed. Thank you for the quick tip.
For me it was the rear passenger's door that wasn't shut properly (Mercedes). Now it works wonderfully fine again! Thanks a lot!!
Thank you for posting this. My 2013 Honda CRV had some repair work done in a bodyshop. They failed to tightly close the hood which caused the key fob problem you described. Once I saw your video I closed the hood tightly and the problem was solved. I would never had known this connection without your video.
Thanks a lot. My key fob was unable to lock or unlock the doors. Upon viewing this video, noticed is because my back door sensor isn't working properly and always showing the door is opened. I fixed that myself and the key fob is working perfectly fine now.

Thank you, this happened today. My doors looked closed and I didnt have the indicator come on that they were ajar but I went and opened and closed them all properly and that worked!

Thank you so much! This has happened to me off-and-on for months, and it happened again lasting several days. I previously thought it was a minor electrical problem with a connection in the trunk. So, I would open the trunk, mess with the wires, then close it, and it'd all work fine again. Dummy me, it was just closing the trunk all along. LOL This time I opened all doors and hood, and firmly closed them all, and all is good again. I think it was probably my passenger door that was maybe not closed all the way after grocery shopping a few days ago. I guess it was secure enough to not trigger the DOOR AJAR warning, but enough for this to happen. Crazy. I have also had the issue with my DOOR AJAR light being on when all doors were closed, and I fixed that by opening and reclosing the trunk. I wonder if the sensor on my trunk is too sensitive, or something.

Does not solve my problem. The hood and all doors are locked. Are there inside controls for this, also my backup alert does not beep. Not the battery as neither key works. Anywhere that I can be referred to?

I'm having this same problem. But if the hood, trunk or doors weren't fully closed, wouldn't there be an indicator light on the dash letting you know that?

This helped me. Found the rubber stop inside my bonnet must have fallen out which in result cause my alarm sensor switch not closing the circuit. Therefore my alarm did not activate. I got a new rubber stop for my bonnet and it is now pushing the switch in and making my alarm to work perfectly. Thank you
My 2012 Ford focus car remote just stopped working all of sudden so I checked to make sure everything was closed like you said in the video and it is still not workingso what can I do next

Fixed my alarm issue! Door not closed! Only fix like this on UA-cam!
thanks it helped apparently my door sensor was unplugged took off the plastic piece by the door panel and it was really unplugged. plugged it on and door upen light back back on and i reset the alarm by starting the car and lock and unlock

Oh yeah! I bet this is what is up with my car, my stupid fingers accidentally hit trunk button often when trying to lock or unlock car. This totally makes sense and a heck of a lot cheaper than dealer diagnosing it!!!

Anyone know a fix for a 2003 mustang? Every door is shut tight
Thanks, I thought I had to reprogram my remote. My battery dead and all my dummy lights lit up after jumping the battery. After about 15 to 20 minutes of driving, the car reset the dummy lights and they went off. Got home and connected my charger. After charging, I didn't close my hood completely as I wanted to open it again later. Went to lock the car but not two beeps or flashing lights. Now I thought the locking feature needs to be reset manually. Came to your youtube and it saved me time and aggravation. I closed by hood and the locking beeps and lights worked. It's good to know that if it doesnt beep that means your doors, hood or truck might be open. Thanks again. :) :) :)

Nice video. Why does it only beep when you push lock the second time? Shouldn't it give the feedback on the first press? Also, unlocking gives no sound? I think the newer generation Hondas/Acura's have beeps for both unlock - double beep and lock - single beep. Seems kinda confusing! Lol
I have a 2012 kia Sorento. This is my issue. We have reclosed everything making sure all was closed all the way. Didn't fix the issue. I had noticed as well that one press on the unlock was unlocking ALL the doors when it should have only unlocked the driver side door. Pressing and holding both lock and unlock an the same time fixed that but not the no sound or lights when locking.

My wife's horn wasn't working on lockup but lights were. Just holding down both lock and unlock for about 5 seconds the horn beeped. Problem solved. I blame the grandchildren!
For people who have honda civics woth i-mid. Look in your lock door settings for keyless lock adknowledgment. Turn it on. :)

Just solved the problem ( don't laugh, yes brainfart ) went around and opened and shut all doors ( check door jamb buttons are all ok ) Ridgeline peeps don't forget hidden bed storage door. Everything works perfect now on my FOB !
