In this video, I revisit the critical importance of making crosswalks safer for our community here in Blacksburg, Virginia. With increasing foot traffic and a growing population, ensuring pedestrian safety is more vital than ever. Watch as I share my thought process during a simple trip to our incredible Hand in Hand park to play with my kids and try my best to keep them safe, so they can make this trip on their own one day.
There are so many good ideas we could test pilot to fix this crosswalk on Patrick Henry Drive and others like it. From better signage and lighting to improved design and traffic calming measures, we can make Blacksburg's roads and streets safer for all road users, especially the most vulnerable such as children.
