Welcome to the world of laser engraving. I have had the Ortur Master 1 for about 1 1/2 years and absolutely love it. I engrave my logo on the bottom of my projects. You'll be amazed at the potential you have with it. I have a platform and a lab jack to raise or lower the project to get the correct height. It helps with the different shapes. I did purchase the Light Burn software and I like it easy to use. Like you I am a novice with computers but through trial and lots of errors I got it to work. Yes I did set cardboard on fire too. LOL. Good luck.
Thank You Pete, LOL I forgot to put that footage in, as well as the acrylic, the video was long and they were nit picking my video so it was to their standards, I am sure I will have some fun with it too, thanks again for watching
Cool!
Thank You
loved it ,
Thank You Sydney
Looks like the laser companies are ramping up their sales push this season through YT. I'm bringing out my first review this week for a NEJE laser. Saw Gary do one last week. Did Ortur send you the rotary attachment? That gizmo promises to be some fun for woodturning!
Thank You Ray, they are and this one wanted me to do another but there was nothing in it for me, hey do another and give it away, that would mean I had to assemble do a video disassemble then ship it to the winner, yeah needless to say I'm not doing that one.
I've seen quite a few of these demos, lately. Interesting to see the strengths of each design.
Well some people understand the software better than others, I'm not one of them, lol Thanks for watching Jay
Just got my laser about 2 weeks ago; it's interesting watching how others are approaching getting dialed in to using them. There are so many applications for this, it's mind-boggling. I've taken some of the same path as you regarding laser engraving various things on wood and then moved to cutting shapes. I've made a couple of boxes and am working on designing a storage unit for my Beall collet chuck system to go on the French cleat wall. One thing I've found so far is that this is another rabbit hole -- not so much in costing more money but in time; as you were showing, there is so much to explore in different materials, different applications, and various projects. The other really nice thing about this is that there is no longer waste plywood scraps in my shop gathering dust for "someday"-- it's now all raw material for this new tool -- that alone is going to make this worthwhile. This is gonna take some time.
Thank You Mark, yeah I can take the motor out of your car, tear it down, leave if for 2 weeks and put it back together then back into your car with out any book or anything, as you can tell computers were not my thing, LOL but I will figure it out, I did see potential for this machine in my shop, I've passed on so many of these offers it isn't even funny,
Hi Doug, funny you are showing this! The reason I haven't been on your site for a while is I got one of these a year ago and it has been my new obsession. If you get more into this look up lightburn. It is great software for engraving and you can do so much with it. If you turn up the power and slow the feed way down you should be able to cut out the coin shape you need for your logo. Also painting the dog tag or plastic black helps give the laser something to focus on so you it doesn't go through the plastic or bounce off metal.
ok I have purchased 2 inch acrylic coins for my logos, much faster LOL I can not seem to get it to engrave very deep into the aluminum dog tags no matter how slow and hot I ran it , I am sure what I did get to happen will get worn off fast, it's all new to me I will just unto that rabbit hole soon enough I think, they want me to do another on the longer 2, still not sure if I'm going to or not.
@@PohlBarnProductions I started that way too, but the advantage of cutting your own is you don't have to worry about centering it. Metal/aluminum is hard - it just kind of etches not really engraves.
You play Minecraft? That's awesome!
Where did I say that, I don't play mindcraft. but Thanks for watching Josh
That Looks Like an Awesome Kit, Doug!
Thank You Steve
Looks like some to be had
Thank You Doug
You just need to play about with it and it will become more understandable . It took me a week of experimenting with my machine and GRBL
I know Rich, thanks for watching
Currently, this thing is really necessary in the workshop for creativity.
GooD)))))))
Thank You Thank You
I was also contacted about reviewing this laser and had similar thoughts about burning logo in boxes and bags for craft fairs and stuff. Also plan to try it out on a wide rimmed platter at some point. Should be an interesting adventure.
you have to play with the setting on cardboard, low and slow seems to work better than fast and hotter, I want to do rims also but I do have to learn the language of it first, well they have a list to follow, even though I said temps and time they want it plastered on the screen, and a thumbnail of the things you made not the machine working, it wasn't that bad I had to re do it once and upload it again for approval, you shouldn't have any problems with it, 3 different materials cut with it, made sure you have some sort of metal under what ever you cut,
That is cool. I'd have same problem no computer skills. Thanks for sharing ✌️
Thanks for watching Larry!
Have Fun 😄
Thank You Heather
Proud of you for trying something slighly out of your comfort zone! Ah technology.... Nice job!!!!
Thank you Monica
Just ordered a laser myself. I've been watching The Louisiana Hobby Guy. He's been at this awhile and I've learned quite a bit. Great channel by the way. Love your projects.
Very cool! Thank You Roger
That will be so useful for you in your shop, home and anywhere really! Really enjoyed you reviewing this...It makes me go hhhmmmmm! I bet I could make all kinds of stuff with this! Time to butter up hubby, lol!😂😂🤣
Thank you Gerogia
I have got to start saving up mate. Your demonstration was awesome I really enjoyed it. I like you could do so much a fantastic addition to my workshop. Take care Doug see you again soon 👍👍👍😊😊😊♥️
Thank You Kelvin, I have so much to learn with that thing
Set it up right, and you won't need the branding iron or coin Logo's anymore and can engrave your Logo directly into your Projects...even into the Resin sections, after all, acrylic is a type of plastic and so is Epoxy Resin so there's no reason why you can't burn the Logo's directly into the mortises you create in the bottom of your pieces and you can still fill them in at the end with clear Epoxy to protect the Engraved Logo...
Have fun and Good Luck...
Thank You
Awesome review I have the baby version the Aufero1 with the short focus 5watt laser I like the idea of a 10 watt one though think the lm3 is awesome they are great for putting logo's etc in bowls too
Thank You Colin, yeah I need to play with it a bit more to get use to it, but it seems to work fine, I can't get the engraving very deep into Aluminum though
Good evening, Doug.
Nice demonstration of the laser. I will be watching for more uses.
Thank you Ray
Nice review Doug. I don’t have a need for one at the moment but, they’re pretty cool to watch. Sandblasting or chemical etching used to be the only options for glass. Neither one was very fun to do!😅
Thank You, no they were not fun to do
Good video, Doug. I use mine for engraving my logo, website address and piece number on the bottom of my pieces. The frame on mine has places where I can clamp extensions to it to change the height. I have not experimented with it yet. I am staying focused on making items to engrave my logo on! 😀
That's a great idea! Thank you Clayton
Nice new toys. I love my CO2 laser. That one ios perfect for engraving
Thank You Steve
cool device. should be fun and hopefully profitable. different kind of video once in a while is cool--like the car ones, etc.--thanks for sharing.
Fingers crossed! Thank you
Great job Doug . Love your new toy. I will be ordering one in the next week or so. It is the one I was looking at for some time now.👍👍👍👍
Thank you Scott, some how this ended up in spam, sorry it took so long to answer
Enjoy your laser Doug. Good luck with it.
Thank You Kath
Interesting, but one thing that I would do, would be to come up with some way to evacuate the smoke.
Thank YOu Fulla, yes I had to open the overhead door to let the smoke out
Nice, Doug. Lasers are so cool. Let’s see more of what you can do. Thank you for this. Take care. 😊😊😊 (1 for you, 1 for Ortur, and 1 for Annie).
Thank you Rob, I hope I can use it here and there in my videos
@@PohlBarnProductions I am sure you can burn scroll saw patterns with it too. 😊 you probably know that though. 😊
one of the reasons I agreed to do the video, logo's scroll saw patterns and it was FREE ! just make a video, although they did sort of have a bar to meet, I only had to fix a couple things,
Technology is so advanced, what an amazing tool
Thank You Carol, yes it is
I have a longer ray 5 10w and absolutely love it! And it definitely makes a great addition to the shop. It saved a bowl that somehow got a hole in the bottom. Just engraved a butterfly on a disk, inserted into bottom of bowl inside and a logo coin on the outside and wa la! Saved! 😂
That's Awesome Kathy, I believe they want me to do another video on that machine and then give one away, I wanted to wait and see how bad you all took this one first ! LOL
It was a very good , honest review video
you can even burn the logo inthe bolws.
Thank You Carlos
Practice makes perfect. Thought you would do one in acrylic like your logo. 😀
I did do one in acrylic but the footage was messed up, it didn't load all of it so I thought I'd shut the camera off, I found I still had it after I uploaded the video, no big deal I will add it in a video one day then use the logo
@@PohlBarnProductions Great hope tonsee soon since your logo supplier retired would love to see how yours turned out. Enjoy your week
I have a laser Ingraver. Totally awesome
Thank You Thank You
As a laser engineer for ten years + D oug
Thank You Tommy, me a week +
According to your description, the promo codes for this expired on 9/25 :(
I saw that two when they sent it to me in an email, I put it up anyways, I have asked about it with no reply so far, if i get one I will change it
I let them know via email and responded with use the second link it will take a couple days for a new one to be generated, when I get that I will put it in the description
Hi Douggggggggggggg
High Robin
Interesting, Doug. I thought it was funny that a Laserpecker ad popped up in the middle of this video.
Thank You Bill, you know I have no control over that
@@PohlBarnProductions I know but it's still funny.
yeah my wife opened it up on her phone and got a commercial for a laser as well.
Man, Everyone is getting these things. They are cool.
Thank You Jane, yeah they want me to do another video so I can do a give away I guess
@@PohlBarnProductions oh how neat. Wish I could get one. I'm still working on tools lol need another chuck body, a big scraper, and a 5/8" gouge. My 1/2" gets worked to death. Want a thin parting tool mine is a thicker one, and maybe a couple carbide tools.
That's awesome
Thank You Herbie
Great review.
Thank you Jack
neat toy =-)
Thank You Leora
cool doug
Thank You Larry
Looks cool, Doug! Congrats on your new toy!
Thank You Billy
Great job Doug. I’m sure you’ll make nice things with it. Hope all is well, take care.
Thanks Angela, you too!
@@PohlBarnProductions you’re welcome.
Can the engraver do rounded pieces of wood? (Edging around a bowl 🥣) or even pieces of wood for putting in resin?
it has a rotary attachment I can get for it but I think it's more designed for Glasses or mugs, not sure if I could to the side of a bowl or not, maybe the rim or the bottom if I raised the machine high enough to do so
I'm jelly
I'm Sorry ! thanks for watching Jen
