Yeah... as a romanian, I can confirm... this building is colosal... there are rooms that can comfortably fit an entire basketball stadium, field and standings at all... I am not kidding... I visited this people's palace (wich is another name for the palace of parlament) and I went inside a room that was arround 200 by 200 feet long and a height of almost 100 feet... and thats just one room...
I've been to this place, it's gigantic, it can be seen from space! Oddly, they don't use air conditioning, there are all kinds of tunnels built in the walls to carry fresh air!

The Afghan war had nothing to do with the fall of the USSR.
At maximum, the war seen only only up to 100K Soviet troops simultaneously, which was like 3% of the total armed forces. Normally, though, the USSR had just 30-50K troops there. Not even theoretically a burden for the USSR. And it was not an "invasion", as the Afghan government has officially (and repeatedly as the USSR did not want to) demanded that the USSR to comply with its signed obligations to help fighting the CIA-incited invasion of tribal jihadis from Pakistan, which was done as per recently-disclosed plan by Brzezinski, approved by Carter in 1979 for the CIA to arm, train, fund the jihadis. Later, in a few years, the CIA has added globalist jihadis into the mix, and this is how Osama bin Laden has become a force.
Nonsense. You don't have to lose the whole army for it to be a significant force behind the regime change. In fact, there's a reason we have such idioms as "the last straw that broke the camel's back". USSR spent billions of rubbles on that war (billions they didn't really have and needed them elsewhere) and they lost somewhere around 25 000 soldiers with 53 000 wounded. If you count in those who survived and had serious PTSD, you are looking at some serious discontent of the population. Most historians agree that Russian mothers who lost their kids there were particularly active and actually wielded some power in the regime. All this contributed to the overall mood that communism is over and it's time to move on. If people felt like these lives and money were well spent, maybe the regime would grind on. But they didn't.
@@miroslavhoudek7085 Nonsense. The death toll was 14K, not 25K, and the billions spend were a tiny portion of the Soviet budget. Low oil prices as well as multiple other issues within the USSR's management and economy were a real factor, unlike the Afghan war. The mothers of soldiers did not have any role of note in the regime change.
As was mentioned in the video, it was "one of the factors" that led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Failing to take Afghanistan fully and sudden death of Brezhnev then Gorbachev making a U-turn on the "Brezhnev Doctrine" and installed Glastnost' and Perestroyka. Its universally acknowledged by the former Soviet citizens who lived through the Afghan war and the fall of the USSR that the Afghanistan invasion was a big fat mistake that significantly contributed to the dissolution of the state. Nonetheless, you are completely right about other factors too.

@@miroslavhoudek7085 Any number higher than 14K comes from thin air, but somehow you chose to believe it. And the reference to the figure coming from Russia as something any more doubtful than from any other country is laughable. Finally, as I mention, there are many issues, not a single one, so you have invented this point yourself to win an argument.

But that s because there are a lot of rural areas and poor towns so in some places it s kinda poor but the capital is rich. Just look it up.
