I live in Marin County in the town of Corte Madera. I have constantly contacted Fire Chief Ruben Martin and The Board Of Supervisors to notify them that we have no emergency evacuation routes on the street where I live. Max Korten, Director of Open Space, developed what use to be a small forest behind my home. It was a HUGE DEVELOPMENT WHICH, INVITES IN THE PUBLIC AS WELL AS MOTORIZED VEHICLES KNOWN TO CAUSE FIRES. HUGE LAWSUIT COMING UP AGAINST MARIN COUNTY!!

We live in San Diego County and have had to evacuate twice even though we live in a tract. We put in the more fire safe vents, replaced mulch next to the house with gravel, cleaned up leaves under plants, took out some that were close together, removed a lot of very tall junipers and Italian cypress next to or hanging over the house. Got next door neighbors to agree to cut back their junipers or hedge to at least five feet from the shared wooden fence. We got rid of all stacked fire wood. This has been a several year process. My question is: We have one wall unit room A/C. Seems like embers could get inside it easily. I bought a fire safe blanket to put on a plastic patio box that houses some back up batteries that can't be moved. Should I get another fire safe blanket for the A/C unit? Thanks.

I'm opposed to getting rid of dead wood and keeping plants apart. Plant density provides shelter to larger wildlife and dead wood and leaves are what most insects and pollinators shelter in. Let's drag smokers to training classes instead.

The VAST majority of wildfire are naturally caused.

What is the #1 reason why wildfires start?
5 Common Causes of Wildfires | HowStuffWorks
Human activities - such as leaving a campfire unattended, discarding lit cigarettes, debris burning and intentional arson - are among the top causes of wildfires. According to the National Park Service, human-caused wildfires account for over 80 percent of all yearly wildland fires in the United States.Aug 15, 2023
