    This would have made a great tv series - they storyline had the potential to go in so many different directions

      This was based off something REAL

    • @Aquaria
      @Aquaria 8 років тому +69

      It was done as a real experiment in the 60s in California. In the early 80s, ABC made afterschool special about it. Only difference seems to be that the real experiment was ended after only 5 days because the students were getting too carried away with it.

    • @MrGLites

      So it STILL could have been extended into a tv series

      actually, there is really only one way this scenario goes...everytime!!!!!
      That is the whole point of the original experiment and the movie!!!!

      Exactly that was the teacher trying in 1967... all the US people who say "No, not in the US", and every experiment, even in the hippy days (Stanford, it takes 36 hours until in 1971 Experiment, a real one at Stanford University, paid for planned 2 weeks, had to be cancelled after 6 days because they lost controll and the "target" was already reached after 3 days and the worst/best (depends on your view or if you want to prove that its true or that its not, but its true - so far every study shows it, country, ethnic background etc does not matter, give people power and let them feel like they are better, like in Stanford, they in their head really forgot that all people are volunteers, they said "They are prisoners, we are Guards! We have to keep it safe!", but WITHOUT ANY violence...
      of course it ended violent and nobody (I don't think there was 24/7 observing, cameras with something like VHS in the university running yes, but they did not expect escalation soo fast, and look @ Guantanamo, they do what they want because the others are terrorists (not unguilty until they show that you are guilty, everyone is a terrorist, white torture is okay, its no US law, its Cuba... or the secret prisons in Eastern Europe which became known when these very poor countries like Romania and Bulgaria jopined the EU, the CIA had secret torture prisons there until they joined the EU.... in Stanford nobody did something like "Stop! Its over, you are far beyond the red line!!!", sorry for bad english but yea... I'm not a real German too, today Germany is/was cool, now the much migrants which ONLY want to Germany because of social care (= cash),
      since Scandinavian countries are too small and do not make this, but Germans do not lose this stupid nazi complex... most young germans even their grandpas are too young to have done something in WW2... its almost 100 years ago that Hitler tried the Coup in Munich, okay exactly 95 years ago! 85 years when he became "Reichskanzler", this was not Nr. 1... until his death Hindenburg was the chief, but soo old, he did lose the reality, but for Hitler he signed the laws which were in effect until the end of Nazi-Germany... only he could sign it... that a communist tried to burn down the Reichstag was real luck for them as Historians I think all are saying the same... it was no fake (like the North Vietnamese Torpedo boat attack which was faked by the US Military and put the President under pressure, I believe the 2nd was a fake too, but this is not confirmed, that the 1st was fake even the goverment can't lie and so they said, yes it was a... "mistake" or so... mistake, of course... like in Iraq the chemical weapon mistake in 2003.......

      Well, that's probably because you think, that it's more possible to happen in Germany. Germans, however, have dealt with their past and think - or at least thought a few years ago - that Germany was the one place, where you could be sure it wouldn't happen again.

      yea and this is not commercial important, important: It can happen anywhere, from everyone, no matter if he is black, white or native... just give power, this as in the movie said at the end "Pseudo-United-Power"... every study I heard/read about shows this... give people power and the feeling or for sure that there is nothing who could arrest and judge them and even hippies became sadists within 36 hours in Stanford for example..a REAL study at a University and not just a school project week....
      the story is known in any case if you inform yourself or read a short description... the message is important, check the interview from the teacher who made this school project in 1967 in California, USA... 1981 US movie is here full, but its a 44 minutes short movie only in bad quality.. I will watch it, but I guess I will stop somewhere, only English and I do not like "short movies" which are older than me and in bad quality... of course it is dramatized here, but its a REAL movie...
