I was told as a child that I had "no talent" for art by an art teacher who favored two students who managed to do fairly well despite the fact that she did No teaching whatsoever. None, no instructions. Three months ago, at age 54, after a blindsiding family incident,I picked up a pencil and drew...and drew and drew. Out of friggin' nowhere but shear desperation for relief. Guess what? I'm not bad. I'm pretty damn good for a beginner. Now I'm ready for some encouragement and instruction. That's where you come in. Thank you so very much.

She just told me not everyone can be an artist and you're one of those. I recently started to try painting so lets see how it goes.
You know that after accidents or bleeding of the brain you can have suddenly even if before you where very bad at it suddenly can be talented at it. It s been researched and proven to really excist.
There's only 2 things I learned in art classes that I use on a regular basis. 1st thing is 3 point perspective. It makes anything with straight lines super easy. 2nd this is something my high school art teacher said. "Draw what you see, not what you think you see". Super helpful when drawing from reference photos.
I understand where you are coming from in myth number 1, however, I hope you don't mind, I think it is worth mentioning that to copy and try to pass of copied work work as your own is wrong and breeches copyright. I just feel that if you are encouraging people to copy for learning purposes, people need to also know about copyright laws etc. After all we live in a digital age and people share art work online so could be in breech of copyright without even knowing it. Otherwise I enjoyed watching your video
indeed it s really wrong and your story about painting masters/artists now and years years ago also aren t true stories. And yes breeching copyright by copying is wrong and breaking the law. You can only copy tolearn how to do stuff but nothing after doing that or with any art that s made with that can be used or published.Not even shared with friends family or on personal social media etc etc.
I left art after the 1st day of joining a painting class the lady I went to learn from made faces at what I was trying to paint and insulted me saying what have you done. I had made it clear to her that I know nothing about painting and yet she asked me to start on a canvas. Ever since I haven't painted.
for me, when i see an artwork i like (whether it's smut or not, an artwork is an artwork.) i save it. and then i trace it. and then i color it. and then i cut it out and have it as a paper doll. yes, i'm a tracer. no, there's nothing wrong with being a tracer. tracing isn't cheating. :)
Copying is stealing and you d never should advice it. And no! They as a appraintece they learned to do it yes but no they dodn t just copy and sell it.Actually they most of times did the simple stuff in the art and the master would then do the hard stuff and finish the piece.
