NAIA really needs to improve. The government needs to take some type of enforcement against the scammers praying on especially Westerners at the airport. The staff is often times ill informed, very common to be told simply NO but are unable to tell you why or what you need to do. It's a complicated airport that is not setup like Western counterparts. As an example you can enter into the terminal after going through security but there is no easy way out if you need to go back to the street. The guards don't seem to know the exit. It took me about 15 minutes to of trying multiple spots in order to find my way out. The sad part was even though I could see my Fiance with my luggage waiting for me....The security person still would not allow me back on to the street. It's not a well run customer service oriented facility that's for sure.
@@123rockstar2010 I don't know. All I can tell you from my experience in March of 2023. I have been to the Philippines in 2006 as well but that was government travel. I can't really compare the two experiences. I can tell you the reputation of being a poorly run facility has been around for decades.
For me the worse experience was when I went outside to check if there’s a taxi and they don’t let me entry at airport again even I explained that I need to use atm
@@Nomaderoute Yes! Once you leave the doors you cant go back as an arrival passenger. Use the ATMs and CR before going to the curb. I made that mistake. I didn’t realize the waiting area was outside, I tried to go back to the AC and they said no. I was out on the curb for close to an hour. I had enough money to change over at the money exchange…so that wasn’t a huge deal for me.
If you're gonna book via Grab, there's no need to walk far as shown on the video. Just book while still inside the arrival area and go out when it's there. No Grab scam in the airport. The official airport taxis are not a scam per se but the rates are much expensive than regular taxis. There's also a line for metered taxis outside the arrival area with an airport guard monitoring the taxis. Just don't negotiate, let them use the meter.
The issue is that at the taxi stands, the grab drivers have started scamming, too. They turn off the app and then say it's a thousand for the ride. But if you go to where he's at, they think it's just a regular rider and not a mark.
@@JimBarcelona um no, just use your app, I use the airport once a month and only use the grab app to book and haven't had any problems. There's also a new competitor called Indrive that has a lot of drivers if Grab isn't available if it's peak periods
Just go upstairs to departures and pick up a METERED taxi that has just dropped someone off. Maybe even take a quick pick before you get in. Less than half price of the pirates downstairs. I've done it at NAIA many times.
Avoid buying a SIM card at the airport. The prices are extremely inflated. You will never use that amount of data in a month. 500 pesos is more than a enough, it's about 50 pesos for the SIM card at any number of local places.
@@_hendraeka WalterMart…Robinsons….Any normal spot will have them, two basic options Globe or Smart. 50pesos for the sim, 500 pesos load is all you need.
They have a Grab Booth at Terminal 3 at exit 3 ..... and if you are American and Have T-Mobil no need to change sim card your Phone will work fine with T-Mobil in Philippines and in Japan ... Talking from experience
Love it. But to much walking as you can walk directly out where you started after getting money and sim. Turn right find white cabs usually in center divider all use meter. Stay away from limo or blue cabs usually rip off.😅
This is awesome, I’m so sick and tired of scammers in Manila airport especially the taxi drivers, if they didn’t overcharge I wouldn’t have mind giving them extra…
Taxi drivers/scammers time is over. SMC's Ramon Ang, the new administrator of NAIA will not allow those unscrupolous vultures to enter the airport. Only accredited airport transport companies will be authorized to operate inside the airport.
Pro Tip: Book Grab but have it pick you up at the DEPARTURE level. So go up the departures. The Arrival area is very crowded and the DEPARTURE area has a higher chance someone will pick you up since most likely a Grab just finished dropping someone at departures and would like to get you since its a quick pick out of NAIA insted of them circling again the traffic of Andrews Ave. to go back to arrivals.
Crazy walking all that way just call a Grab . As far a Sim I have one registered in my fiancees name and just add data when I arrive as I use a lot when I am there ..And i am in and out of the Philippines every few months ..
Thank you for your vlog. We, my wife from the Phils and i (German), take always a white cab from T3 to Ermita (next to Robinsons Place) and never paid more than 200 Php.The same price from Ermita to T3. Last time was in December 2022.
By scam you mean, they refuse to use the meter? I had traumatic experience years ago with those parasitic taxi drivers. I even heard from Korean travelers who booked accomodations in very cheap dorm rooms that their taxi fare was more expensive than their flight tickets from Korea. They probably fix that problem already. Because crossing the foot bridge may be too inconvenient for some people.
yup. And they will say they only pick up passengers (flyers). As a local in metro manila this is scam should be stopped. I also think that the officers in the airport are in cahoots with them too. it's an organized scam.
One reason I book grab even it more expensive because there really a lot of taxi scam never goes away. But there a stand outside for grab and they have a boot they'll book for you
Catch white taxi which uses meter, the security guards take your details and number plate from driver incase something happens, but they are legit and use meter which is cheaper than grab
@@pattypadulas8879 At the airport where the security guard is there who notes down your details and the taxi registration are not scammers, they use the meter and don’t scam you, there’s some that are white and sometimes there’s yellow ones too which say metered taxi outside, I’m not saying all the white and yellow taxis are ok, but only the ones where the security guard notes down the details

I’m traveling to Philippines since 2012 bro, if you have a boarding pass for a fly in the same day you are able to entry back, if not the security won’t let you come in again at arrival terminal, you have to go all the way to departure scam your bag and entry again, or maybe it’s just happen to me, who knows, take your chances, I’m in Angeles and wont be able to meet at airport on november 19 😝, stay safe bro and enjoy your trip to Philippines
yes you are correct. There are entry doors and exit doors. There is not many entry doors though and if you go to the wrong one, it be a far walk. If you come out off gate 3 and walk left, the entry will be near by

Thanks for your comment I have travel to Philippines a lot and that’s the way I feel more comfortable, everybody has different point of view, What works for me sometimes doesn’t work for others. My idea is just share my experience and help somehow
You can directly book the Grab car from the arrival terminal.
Good to know, im local and didn’t know about the foot bridge, thank you
this video is important for Americans who travel solo.
coming in at night
I’m glad to help 🙏
